  1. Unfortunately that's the world we're living in where age, race and ethnicity have to do with job opportunities! In my opinion, age shouldn't be a factor for getting a job as long the person can perform. I remember going to nursing school and one my classmates was in her sixties and her grades were all As, while the youger ones struggling to get Bs. Maybe you should move to Florida because we're desperate for nurses. If you don't mind driving, maybe you try home health.I wish you luck!
  2. It is only two months. I wouldn't put it.
  3. First and foremost, you should have called the PCP and report the incident and let him or her to put it back. You said it was bleeding , that's trauma and you shouldn't insert it not knowing how much damage to the urethra.. Always ask if you don't know. It's better to look like you don't know something because you ask than to do the wrong thing! My moto is ask not one , but more than two.
  4. Hope it works out for you! They'll probably send you a class and you may have to do drug testing. In Florida that's how it would happen. Every hospital should use the COW, computerized operationing Wheel. You have to scan it and the patient. If the medication is wrong, it will tell you. You're only human! Don't be hard on yourself. I used to check the order three times before I pulled it and because of that I never made narcotic errors. Good luck!!
  5. She is a new nurse and it seems as if she wasn't thought the protocol. What she did was wrong, but didn't know the right way. That the problems with hospitals putting new nurses on the floor without proper training. I was trained for three months on the floor and now they are trying to put new nurses on the floor within a month. Blame the hospital!!
  6. Don't sign anybody's orders, especially medication s. That will get you into trouble. They're not yours. If you have to call a nursing lawyer and find out.
  7. If a NP has to buy own medical insurance and gets no benefits, should he or she accepts pay rate of $40.00 an hour as new NP? Florida
  8. Stay there and get your experience. Patients will or will not want you. Move along. I have passed my boards eight months here in Florida and so far I have a hard time getting employed. I got lucky when one doctor offers to hire me for Fridays only. I jumped at the opportunity because I can get my experience and learn a great deal from him. Never look a gift hoorifice in the mouth!!!
  9. This is what I called nurses eating their young. It was very unfair fair for the preceptor to give you five patients the first day. I don't think some nurses remember been a new nurse. I did preceptorship and I always treat my new nurses better than how I was treated as a new nurse. I was bullied and talked down to by my preceptor , but I told myself I will not quit because of her. Hold your head up and ask God for direction. Don't loose hope! Good Luck!
  10. Hi Agriffin, God morning! My name is Joan. I passed the board in February and applied for many, many jobs, but no luck. I applied for risk assessment job, but the only opportunity they have is state travel. Meaning I have go to place I have never been that can be dangerous. 12. Hi hoppel, I passed my ANNP in February. I studied the Leik book several times , APEA book and CDs several times and too weeks before my exam, I did nothing more than questions. If you know your materials, you will have no problem. Also , I bought a tape recorder and taped my self reading and ask questions, then I played it over and over.Ask your self examples such as : If an elderly patient comes in with forgetfulness, weakness, tremors and tingling in extremities. What would you do to rule a DX of vitamin B12 deficiency. Talk to yourself. Good Luck!!
