  1. Hi HopePRN, My acceptance letter is dated 10/30/17 and postmarked 11/1/17 so yes! That being said things area always changing in the program. With an increase in the number of cohort members that are accepted it may take a bit longer. If you don't hear anything by Mid-November give the program a call! The admin is a big help and may have an estimated time for you. Best of luck!
  2. Keep your nose in the books and get that degree! C's don't mean you don't still have what it takes to be a competent and caring nurse. We all know the tests can be enough to make you pull your hair out, but don't let that discourage the time and effort you've already put in to the program. If you still want to go to Graduate School once you're done with the BSN and working as a nurse, please know this...there are often "EXCEPTIONS TO POLICY"...as in...just because the application site says you have to have a 3.0, doesn't mean you wouldn't still be able to apply. Talk to the program Director! Your experience and referrals in the profession will go a long way if and when you determine that you want to apply to a grad program. There's a reason for all those memes about Nursing school being the only place that "A" students cheer for "C's". It's difficult! But it's manageable! Just keep going and tell yourself you've got this!
  3. Hi Whitney, If your available network of nurses is limited I'd recommend asking if you can interview a faculty member within the nursing program. If you are sincerely unable to interview an RN locally, I'm sure the experienced nursing faculty would try to accommodate your efforts. Perhaps they even have a friend or coworker that they could put you in contact with! Best of luck!
  4. Hi Pilar87, I'm not sure if that question was directed to me or another poster. I did not end up applying for fall 2017 and only applied for spring 2018 getting in the first time. My GPA was 3.89 and my HESI was 96% overall so I didn't have an issue. I'm not sure where the cutoff was this semester to be honest! There were a few people in my cohort that did not get in for the fall that had similar GPA's as mine but had less than 90% on the HESI. So, very competitive for the fall! Good luck though, it's a tough but excellent program.
  5. A while back there was a note on the website that the A&P portion would be a scored section for fall 18/spring 19 applicants, but I don't see that updated on the website. It looks like it's still on the test, but not used to calculate entry. Pre-Admission Testing - Nursing Program - Truckee Meadows Community College IF you want to be sure, you can always call the nursing office and ask if the A&P will be used in your overall score. She's really helpful! Good luck on your tests and application!
  6. We use a local daycare, but have also used house sitting services from Rover.com. Our daycare is around $300 per month and we drop off 5 days a week. Rover is more expensive sometimes, but we mostly use it for date nights when the daycare option is closed. Just be sure you're able to give the pup a great life with a great pack of support! Our dog is super attached to family and people, so he doesn't fair well on his own. We learned that the hard way and we weren't initially prepared for the added expense. That being said, having a dog has been a wonderful change for us and I'm glad we were able to make it work! Best of luck with your decision!
  7. Congratulations on graduating! And I'm so sorry to hear about your car. I hope everyone was ok!
  8. I emailed and asked about it. Apparently we don't get the list until January during orientation.
  9. I did the same thing! I'm taking Nutrition 223 online right now, and the ebooks kill me. I need to be able to highlight, dog ear pages and physically see things. It's so much easier to jump around in an actual text book, and to make notecards for studying.
  10. Glad it's all sorted! Now just to wait for the uniform/text book email. :)
  11. Hey, It is definitely a requirement! When they sent over the instructions for E-Value there were several PDFs, and one was named "Pre Clinical Requirements". Influenza is the last item on the checklist, so be sure to get one!
  12. I know! The cost is definitely a cringe worthy moment, but it will all be worth it in the end. I'm hoping they send out the supply/uniform information soon so I can start planning my finances down to the penny.
  13. Yeah, when I checked in with her she had sent the list out to Admissions & Records to update, so I called them to see what was going on. Hopefully you have no issues registering! I think after you're registered you get your email about how to log in to E-Value. That's where you'll upload all of your immunizations, CPR card, etc. If you don't get that email after you register definitely call Amber!
  14. Hey tmccstu2018, When you return your acceptance of offer letter to the nursing program, they in turn release your name to admissions and records so you can register for classes. I was able to register for NURS138, NURS142, and NURS212 even though my degree emphasis in MyTMCC hasn't been updated. Admissions and records said that the degree emphasis takes a few weeks to update. You should be cleared to register though as long as you've turned in your acceptance of offer letter. Hope that helps!
  15. I did my background check but I haven't had time off work to go do the drug test. I'll probably do it the week after Turkey Day! I received my log in to upload my documents yesterday, so I think if you're registered you should get one soon too!
