Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Update: all papers received may 4. 16 weeks and 1 day later my license cleared/posted on breeze. Did LiveScan prints... ****** thing is it expires 2/28/18.... which means I don't even get the full 2 years. They do it based on the month AFTER your birthday... That's rather annoying

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
what did they say when you asked them about how long it might take? I had called last week and she told me once you are verified its ok for it to expire (I submitted May 4th and was afraid of this happening). The lady on the phone said that as long as it was verified before the 90 days that is all that mattered. I almost feel like I need to fly out there and see if I can do anything in person, this is just unreal!

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
I am assuming they just have less international apps... But who knows... As far as the traveling agencies I actually read that they just say that but they usually don't deliver. Only thing they do is hand it in in person... But who knows. The whole thing is frustrating. I am just glad finally moved onto March 15-30th I have been hearing a lot that it taking people 5-6 months. This is horrible because we are just waiting on a job to open (I'm really kicking myself for not doing this sooner...)

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
I sent in a paper app 5/4 (when they got it, with hard finger prints). Check cashed 6/23. Showed up on breeze 6/24 with pending, missing education history . When on vacation I did live scan finger prints also (just in case) Today 7/21, more then 11 weeks after original submission missing history disappeared. Still waiting.. I called this week and they said maybe in another 4-6 weeks till they get to may apps. Who knows at this point. (Some dates may be off a day or two, doing to memory) Floxy, I could be wring but I thought the LVN and RN APP might be different. Not sure. Did you submit all your stuff online 6/27?

Just logged onto breeze, the "missing education history" has been taken off. The deficiency box is now empty... Hopefully this means someone is looking at it *fingers crossed*

Ranch dressing in a breast milk container
Lap sponges left over from surgery (I work OR) are awesome for doing dishes, dusting or cleaning... and you just throw them away when you are done!

How Does Call Work? 1st Call 2nd Call? Etc.
call is very different depending on your facility. I would make sure to have them explain it very well to you. Call shifts can also greatly differ depending of staffing of different shifts. My hospital does not staff a lot of evening people and none overnight. IF you are call one you are working 80% of the time, call shifts are 24 hours.

Whiteboard- for tracking all soft counts Paper- sent up in instruments trays and used to count instuments- hang on/next to whiteboard 3. Is your counting system: Functional Easily Accessable 4. Is the surgical count visible to all team members? Always 5. Is patient information displayed for all team members to view: name, allergies, weight etc.. Yes 6. How are Surgical Counts documented in patient record Cerner 7. Is the actual time the surgical counts took place documented? No 8. Are the initial counts completed prior to the patient entering the Operating Room? Most of the time, ALWAYS before timeout! 9. Are there interruptions during the surgical count? Sometimes, but if so we restart, people are pretty good at not interupting! 10. If you had access to an advanced counting system would you be interested in using it? not sure what an advanced counting system is…

Transition to Peds OR
I have also considered transitioning to a children's hospital... The only peds we do now is dental and I HATE it... Mostly because of the drills and smells...

cloth hats
Wow. That's just crazy to me! I could see if you we're touching your hats then doing surgery or somethin.... wild!!! The elastic on our disposable hats irritates me so I wear it over my scrub hats.
-
Scrubs run the OR, not nurses.
I also believed that a circulator was required to be an RN.... This is very unusual..
-
cloth hats
So we all have the cute scrub cloth hats that we LOVE! I am curious. Where do you work? Are you allowed to wear them? Do you have to keep them covered?? Curious! Very Curious! (I am in Santa Fe, NM. We are allowed to wear them but have to wear disposable hats over...)

How long did you stay at your first job?
full time 6 months, then I went per diem for three months. It was corrections and I got pregnanct and husband wanted me to leave. After the six months I had to come to my local hospital, they had paid my way through school. I owed them a year and a half for school. After almost two years I will be leaving states so moving... From corrections to the OR. lol

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Hey everyone. Just wondering how everything is going for everyone else. I applied by paper 5/6/16 (that's when they received it) Check cashed 6/22 Showed up on breeze 6/23 pending missing education hx (was told this is a default status) I submitted hard copy finger prints, later did livescan I spoke with someone at BON (called number on main page at 8 am CA time) was told they would get to my application in august (EHHHH) but they did have my live scan prints in... JUst playing the waiting game. We are trying to relocate our family to California. We are in the process of buying a home but our loan wont go through until we have one full pay stud to show employment... this is so frustrating... Any good news from anyone?? I did not apply for a temp license. I wish I did, Is it to late to apply for one? Has anyone had success with this?? HELP!

Relocating states FOREVER
Beautiful response. So just to make sure I have this right. I can be a "traveler" in CA even if I am working in the same town as I would be living? The only thing is I would be missing out of the "tax free" bonuses and only making straight pay and paying taxes (Almost feel like I would prefer that, tax free seems like it can be tricky.). By doing this would I make more money then a regular staff employee? I want to save money and if I work for them as a traveler when/if they ask me to sign on I can negotiate for more. Also, I wanted to take those weeks off between contracts to visit grandma.
