  1. This makes me sick to my stomach. Strip her of all rights to ever work in the nursing field. Prison would do wonders for her. I do give credit to her bf for coming forward with this. How terrible for her patients.
  2. As the oncoming nurse I went with the day nurse to the patients room. The lady had radiation to her shoulder previously and had a small open wound. The other nurse said watch this. She squeezed the shoulder and thick, green drainage came out. I gagged and had to leave the room. The other nurse laughed and told others. Needless to say she could have warned me first. Collected myself and returned to the room to complete the job. Wounds don't normally gag me.
  3. I volunteer for APL..chili supper, pet park etc. I have a tendency to feel bad when I get OT, so I will spend it on one of my pts. I found an old rocker and had the seat replaced. I gave it to the pt who was asking for one.. I donate to St Judes and Susan Komen. I recently gave blood for the first time . I just enjoy helping out when possible
  4. When my mom was on the oncology unit as a pt she would always tell them she was calling her daughter because I would know better than the hospital.
  5. Rude as heck BUT did he ask about your credentials? You may have more education then he does. I dont tell folks Im a nurse but if they ask for my opinion I give it. Personally Id tag him as unruly
  6. I learned not to turn my back for to long. Years ago I had a pt that would punch me between the shoulder blades twice. She was smiling and said hi. I quickly turned my cart around. Hence no further issue. Some pts do not realize the strength they have. Different cartoons??
  7. Medline and its free
  8. Look into certified medical assistant.
  9. In my facility we dont need RNs so they are hired as RN/LPN. We do the same protocol. One of the hospitals here utilizes LPNs as glorified CNAs...CNAs are tech 1 and trained into tech 2. They do foleys, remove IVs etc. At my facility CNAs cant do anything except routine ADLs
  10. It was hard many yrs ago. But the hardest test I ever took was for the National Guard
  11. I would start with the LPN program first. I have friends that waited fir the RN program openings but unsure if thats what they really wanted. Only 1 went on to RN.. Ive been an LPN for 22 yrs in the same facility. Im almost 57 so not sure if returning to school would help
  12. Some of these responses made my laugh harder meter. What did I get for nurses week? Boss went on vacation. 😀 Yesterday was cookout for all employees. But I like my 2 weeks off. Every year (22yrs) its less and less but my pts and administration made us a thank you poster This year.
