  1. I have never heard of that one, but I will look into it. Thanks so much for the suggestion. :)
  2. Hi all :) I need your help. I am sure this is addressed some where on the board but it keeps coming up blank when I search, so I thought I would just ask. I need to get my Continuing Education Credits done asap so I can renew my license. I know there are places you have to pay but I barely have enough money to renew the license (I have been out of work) I have done some subbing but it has been few and far between. I am an LVN in Texas. I welcome any great sites or information. Thank you all so very much.
  3. I keep it simple buy it seems to work. I use tide free on cool (always put detergent in first) I turn everything inside out and only wash uniforms with uniforms No socks or towels. I do a double rinse. I tumble dry using the wrinkle release feature (basically the cool down) 2 bounty sheets. As soon as they are ready. I do a grab, shake, and hang method (keeping the dryer running in between) I finish up with Bounty wrinkle reducer spray :) I still have sets that are 10 years old and look great (I'm a little ocd with the laundry lol)
  4. I got my 3 days in at this school. Yay ! I have an assignment at a different school on Friday. I really think this was a great experience that I can carry with me. I am so glad I posted here. The support and advise you all gave me was exactly what I needed to help get me through the challenge. Thank you again.
  5. Thank you all so very much. Today I did it by the book and stuck with it. It was mostly good, and once they figured out that if they didn't meet criteria I wouldn't be calling home the office cleared out. I also checked every single kiddo for a nurse pass. I had thought I was keeping a pretty good eye on this, but more were getting through than I thought. I had a couple get upset that I wouldn't see them without a pass, but that is ok because the rule is that they must have a pass. Doing things this way gave me a lot more time to deal with the things that really needed my attention. Thank you all so much for the advise and encouragement. I still have tomorrow at the same school so hopefully it will go smooth also. You guys are great! Thank you so very much.
  6. I really need some help. I am currently subbing as a school nurse. This is my only job right now and I cant afford to lose it. I feel like no matter what I do it is wrong with some one. I guess my main question is...What do you do for the kids who don't fit criteria to go home but have been in several times? I have been calling home if they keep coming back but the principal told me not to call any more unless they meet criteria to go home. When they come in with a head ache and tummy ache and I have done crackers and an ice pack I am drawing blank. I would love any tricks or tips for any part of student care. I did read an older thread but maybe there are some other suggestions. I honestly feel like I am capable but feel like its always something and there is a limit to what we can do. I do all different grades and each school is different but 5-6th graders seem to be the most challenging you tell them to go back to class and an hour latter they are right back. Please help thank you so much. You all are great.
  7. I am a 47 year old lvn that has worked in the clinical setting for 7 years, sadly I was laid off a few months ago. I have been given the opportunity to work as a substitute school nurse. I am hoping it will open the door to a more permanent position. My question is....Well pretty much everything . If anyone could share their experience I would really appreciate it. What can I expect? Is there anything I can do to better prepare myself? Any advice would be great. Thanks so much. Yulie
  8. I would agree with the Phenergan for nausea / Vomiting in an addicted patient, but have never heard that it is less sedating than Zofran. That is actually one reason it (phenergan) might be preferred for an addicted pt. (that they might be able to rest some)
  9. I know it is pretty late to update this thread, but I noticed it in my inbox. First thanks to everyone who commented I really appreciate it. I did speak with our P.D., also our D.O.N I spoke with the pharmacy that gave me the heads up originally and a couple weeks after this post the pt was arrested and taken to jail, this was not her first attempt. Be well
  10. Hi, my name is Julie and I am 44 years old. I have had my lvn for 4 years. I had some college in my early 20's only to drop out to help my then husband complete his phd then to be a full time mom. All these years later I still feel like I have missed out on something. I loved getting my lvn I felt so proud, but I still want what I have always wanted...A college degree. SO, I guess my question is to those of you who have made that leap....How is it? How did you feel? was it worth it? would you do it again? I also can't lie part of me is afraid I won't be able to cut it. LVN school was not easy for me, which is one reason it meant so much for me to graduate. It was my one real personal accomplishment in life. I cried a lot, but vowed I would not quit and I made it. I am scared and need to know what the transition is like. I also have no idea how to pay for it. Thanks for the help. P.S. I work in a clinic situation, My greatest gift is the way I feel about my patients I am a giver all the way through, biggest obstacle is confidence...I know that is a biggy but it isnt something you just ask for and get. I am a hard worker and I do not believe in giving up. I also haven't started an IV in 3 years and was not so good at it when I did it.
  11. Thanks to you all for your help. :) I am now caught up. Have a great weekend
  12. How can I get my CE's that quick? Is there a dependable web site or something I can go to? If so,how do I prove to the board that I have these hours? I totally forgot and now I am freaking out. Please help. Oh yes, I am in Texas. Thanks in advance. Julie
  13. I live in a small town...they probably just said my name, and the doctor's name, clinic name and phone #. I was surprised they didn't recognize my voice though....Pretty hard to miss LOL
  14. Thanks for the words I really do appreciate them. I do feel violated, I can tell some understand that, and some don't... thats ok I do see it as identity theft and feel that IS against me and against my doctor. With out our names she couldnt get anything. As long as my name and my license are ok all I can really do is pray for her...And....report her as I have done, talk to our clinic head, and my Dr. who has fired her as a patient. The pharmacy has their own investigator. Thanks again I am starting to calm down :redpinkhe
