  1. Hey everyone! CONGRATS on being accepted! I just graduated from LSUHSC with my BSN this May, and have lots of book for sale if anyone is interested! You can message me on here for more info!
  2. hello, I am looking to upgrade my stethoscope now that I have graduated. I am looking into the Littman Classic III and had a few questions. The website description says the bell can be a traditional open bell or closed bell by adding the removable diaphragm. If I put on the removable diaphragm will that side still be considered a bell to hear low freq sounds? or will it now act as a pediatric side diaphragm?
  3. Hello, I am set to graduate in May and have just accepted my first job. I had a question about PTO and vacation. My RN position schedules us to work 40hrs/week with combo shifts of 12 and 8 hrs. I am planning a vacation in december Sunday-Friday. Would I have to use PTO to request off for every single one of those days (even though normally I would not be scheduled to work that many in a row) or do I just use PTO hrs that are equivalent to the amount of hours I would normally be scheduled to work during that time?

I am a BSN student graduating in May 2020. I have begun applying for different hospitals and have interviews scheduled for this week. However, one of the hospitals I applied to (dream hospital to work at) said that they will not begin doing interviews until the end of march/early april. What happens if I get an offer from one of the hospitals I interview with this week and the deadline to accept is before I even interview with the other hospital? Can I back out if I accept the offer?
  5. Texas Children’s deadline is Monday at 8am and I’m still waiting for a letter of rec. ??
  6. When you submitted it did you put both Cumulative and nursing GPA? My transcript only has cumulative gpa
  7. I just Received my packet from Harris Health
  8. I did Not receive a confirmation either
  9. Does anyone know if Houston Methodist does Skype interviews for the prescreening day? I emailed them and havent heard back yet. I go to nursing school out of state and am already making a trip to houston the following week for another hospital that will not do a Skype interview
  10. That’s weird. When I use the link it says Summer 2020 cohort
  11. https://gradnurses.houstonmethodistcareers.org/ this is the link
  12. Houston Methodist opened theirs when it asks you to select specialties, do you think NICU is included in the ICU choice?
  13. Hello, I also plan on applying!!
  14. Hello, I am applying to the nurse residency program for summer 2020 and wanted to know If they allow you to start the program with a compact license? the website said Texas license so I wasn't sure .
  15. I plan on applying to the Houston nurse residency programs. Does anyone know if we can begin these programs with a compact license? I tried finding contact info for each hospital but was unsuccessful.
  16. hello everyone, I am graduating nursing school in May and will applying to the Memorial hermann nurse residency program. I was just wondering, if you do not get accepted into the program, can you still apply for a job at the hospital on the unit you wanted without doing the residency program? or is it mandatory for new grads?
  17. I am finished up my second year of nursing school and have never had a fainting problem at clinical before. However, in the middle of my Labor and delivery clinical I have had 2 fainting experiences. the first one was when I saw an epidural being placed. I didnt see the needle being inserted but when the pt began moaning in pain I became very light headed and had to leave the room. The second time was when i watched a circumcision for the first time. I was fine until the baby started screaming. Both times I felt so bad for the patients because I knew they were in a lot of pain, and once I started thinking about that pain I feel faint immediately. How do I stop this? I want to be a L&D nurse. I have watched lady partsl and C-sections and have not had a problem. It's only when I see the patients' faces and "feel" their physical pain. It's as if I can imagine myself in their position, then I faint.
  18. If any girls are looking for a roommate for the on campus apartments I currently live in a 2-bedroom, and will be needing a roommate starting next semester. you can send me a PM on here by going to my profile.
  19. yes. everyone who start nursing school in the fall, will have the same schedule and take every class together for the entire program
  20. there is only one section for each class. the list of professors on the schedule will all lecture at some point through out the semester.
  21. I am finishing up my first year of nursing school and all I hear from professors and older students is "passing NCLEX with 75 questions". What does that even mean? I know the test has 75-265 question, but that is can cut off anytime after 75. How do you pass at 75, if you have not even answered half of the possible questions? HELP!
  22. WebMD said this was the best knife to use!
  23. We heard everything via email. we Even received an email with our acceptance letters and then about a week letter we got the physical letters in the mail
  24. Don't stress too much about the application process the entire administrative team is very friendly and wants to help you succeed. Our applications were due by mid January, and we heard back about doing an online interview by the beginning of February. Then we did the written statement a month later, beginning of March. The longest part was waiting to hear back after the written statements, because that's when they sent acceptance/waitlist letters. We received our letters mid April (if i remember correctly). Good luck to everyone!
