  1. Yes, you will be exposed. And yes, you will probably test positive. You will get "catch" some kind of infection from a patient during your nursing career. You will get hit,bit and hurt from doing patient care. That's unfortunately part of the job,if you can't handle it...get out now
  2. In my 34 years of nursing, I'm at my wits end. My staff is 1/2 new AD or BSN grads (ready to enroll in NP or CRNA school)and 1/2 NP students. In a few years will there be any bedside nurses left
  3. I graduated from a diploma program in 1983. I took additional classes and graduated from the university with a B.A. In 1984. I never had any regrets not having a BSN until last year. I was passed over for a promotion because of not having a BSN. I have worked 27 years in ER/ICUs, and have been in a charge nurse role for 10 years. I plan to retire within the next 6 years, so I am not going to spend the money to get a BSN. But I encouraged any younger nurse out there to pursue it
  4. Absolutely not...after being a nurse for 34 years
  5. I am having a difficult time accepting the fact you left a job due to not getting a consistent break. There would be no nurses left it we all made that a deciding factor.
  6. I'm not one to complain, but....
  7. Labs are back....no insulin coverage, no heparin changes, no electrolyte replacement. Woot, Woot
  8. I Hope I don't find....an spooky, empty room
  9. Pursue the dialysis job. It's what you want and what you will enjoy. I was in a similar situation. I accepting a new job ( but not one I really wanted). 2 days after I started; my dream job was offered. I took the cowards way out and emailed human resources ( telling them this position was not right for me) and told them I wasn't coming back. I dropped off my resignation letter and name badge at the front desk. I never regretted it and never heard from them again
