  1. Hi all! I am in WGU's MSN - Leadership and Management program and I am looking for a preceptor. Unfortunately, my unit is going through a management change and the current managers are interim and they will not be renewing their contract in April. The role of the preceptor is to oversee my quality improvement project (I'm writing a new neonatal hypothermia protocol) and to answer any questions I have about being a leader/manager in the nursing world. Requirements: WA State RN license 2 years in a leadership role (charge nurse counts) MSN degree If anyone is interested, please send me a message! I promise I won't take up much of your time and you would be doing me a huge favor. Thanks in advance!
  2. I would definitely keep it on the 29th as well. Driving 3 hours would add that much more stress to an already stressful situation. Good luck you guys!
  3. I just passed my last final of nursing school! Waiting to get my authorization to test e-mail and I'm interested to see how far out I'll have to schedule.
  4. My graduating class has been in touch with many of the Seattle area hospitals and so far no one is on a hiring freeze. All of the nurse residencies are going on, as planned. As for testing centers, I am hoping they'll reopen in a few months. It took a little over 3 months for Wuhan to now report no new cases of Covid-19. That would put us right around June/July.
  5. http://chng.it/tpYhLSndYN We've started a petition to get them to allow us to take the NCLEX. We need more nurses now than ever before. Please take a minute to sign!
  6. Hey guys, I ended up making it in off the waitlist for the Spring quarter. Cut off was 105.5 and I had 104.85, so just know there is hope even if you get waitlisted. If you guys have any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them! Good luck to you both!
  7. I hope everyone is ready for school to start on Wednesday! I wanted to see how many of you guys were going to take NURS 094? I registered for it but I'm still on the fence on whether I should take it or not.
  8. I used psych 101 and medical terminology. I'm not sure if they'll let you use Nutrition since it's a required prerequisite but maybe?? From what I've heard, you can pretty much use any class as long as you are able to write a little paragraph stating how it will help you with nursing.
  9. YOU GUYS!! I JUST GOT THE CALL AND WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM!! I hope it's totally normal to be in tears right now, because I am! I'll see you all tomorrow!
  10. Hey guys! I thought I would start a thread for all of us Shoreline Community College Part-time applicants for Fall 2018. I'm currently on the waitlist for the Spring 2018 full-time program, but if I don't get in then I plan on applying to the part time for fall. I'm sitting at 104.85 points and it seems like the part-time program usually has a lower minimum point requirement so I'm hoping that's enough to get in! If anyone has any questions about the application, feel free to ask me. This will be my third time applying to Shoreline so I feel like a pro at this point :)
  11. Congratulations! I'll see you guys at the meeting on March 7th. Fingers crossed that some people decline their spot so I can join you all!
  12. Hey MPaige, did you get your letter?? Hoping you got your 105.9 points and made it in :)
  13. Hey guys, just got the letter and I made it into the waitlist! The minimum cut off was 105.50. Congratulations to everyone and hopefully I'll be seeing you in April!
  14. Hey Hady, thanks for the heads up! Do you know if the cut off was 105.0 or a little higher? I had 104.85 so I'm hoping maybe that will be enough to make the waitlist! Congratulations to everyone!
  15. I think I will always keep the option open to pursue my MSN or something further, but I'm not sure if I will. I'll be 31 on Saturday and will be getting married this November. Once nursing school is over, I would like to start a family so I think I would put any additional nursing studies (besides my BSN) on hold for a while. Who knows what the future holds though :)
  16. Hey Hady! I always thought I wanted to work at Children's, but I got a job as a CNA in the Maternity Center at Evergreen Hospital and now I want to become a labor and delivery nurse! All the nurses I've worked with have told me that they thought they knew what department they wanted to work in but once they went through the different rotations in school it changed, so we'll see! I've picked up a few shifts in the ER as a patient sitter and have always wanted to give those nurses a pat on the back. It seems like a tough but rewarding department to work in.
  17. Hey Hady, welcome to our little group! Waiting is the worst part, somehow it doesn't seem quite as bad the second time around though. A bunch of us applied last quarter and the minimum was 105.t5 to get in so we're back for round 2. I'm still at 104.85 so hopefully the minimum is a little lower this quarter!
  18. Anybody else getting antsy? I didn't realize they had pushed back the application deadline to January 16th so it looks like we probably won't be hearing back until the very end of the month. I know my point total is borderline and that's what is driving me crazy! As always, good luck to everyone and I hope I get to meet you all in April!
  19. Just wanted to drop by and say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you!
  20. I think sentence skills is considered the writing portion! When I signed up for the accuplacer, there wasn't an actual "writing" portion and on my application I just used the sentence skills score.
  21. Hey Dambler, Those are the two classes I used last quarter and was given the 4 points so you should get those as well!
  22. Hey Ghosty, No, Shoreline changed their requirements again starting with the Fall 2018. Instead of the Accuplacer test, you now have to take the NLN pre-nursing exam. I think it might be similar to the TEAS test that some of the other schools in the area require!
  23. Turning my application in on Thursday! Although now the wait will be even longer since I'll have the application in a couple weeks early. I also bought a pre-RN entrance exam study book since I'll be applying to the part time program as well and I need to take that placement test. I'm finding that I know most of the stuff in there so I'm not too worried about taking it. Has anyone taken it previously? And if so, how was it?
  24. Ya I printed it out and just wrote it in on the application. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this!
  25. Also, anyone else having this problem? I finished my application and was reviewing it before I printed it. I noticed under the "cards included in this application" section that my HIV/AIDS certificate wasn't listed. I went back and made sure I clicked on it and pressed save. Again, only my CPR and First Aid cards were listed. I even went as far as deleting and re-doing the entire application and I still can't get it to show up. I can't remember if it did this on the last application as well and maybe I just didn't catch it?
