This can't be safe at all
Take that NICU job and don't look back. 2 weeks is no where near sufficient for orientation for a brand new nurse. That is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn't even be legal. I wouldn't feel bad for you. If you are concerned to the point where you think your license could be on the line....get out!! I'm sure a place like that would have no problem throwing you under the bus if something went wrong. Congrats on your dream job!! ðŸ‘

Do You Ever Ignore Your Employer's VM When They Try to Call You In?
I always let it go to voicemail and if I decide to go in (which is rare) I will call back. I NEVER feel obligated to answer or go in. If it is that bad, management could go in. I might actually be more willing to pick up if they were. I have NO guilt for not going in. We always run short and at the time we just deal with it. That may seem mean, but I have a life...even if it just means watching tv.

Overflow in the er
I think having home patients is dangerous for the inpatient hd and for your other ER patients. Neither is able to get the care and attention that they need and deserve. Not to mention increased wait times in the waiting room because you can't move patients. Just last night at work we had 7-8 inpatient holds. The hospital I currently work at recently thought it a good idea to close almost 50 beds. We have been holding in the ED since!! I'm not sure how a nurse can be expected to care for her ICU hold, floor hold, and sill have to take care of anything from the sniffles to an MI. It's so unsafe and so unfair to everyone involved. This has been part of a deciding factor in me wanting to leave my current job.

Mechanical Compression Devices
The hospital the I worked at 3 years ago. The one I work at now does not even though we see out fair share of codes. I loved the auto pulse!!

1:57, 1:58, 1:59, 2:00!! I passed!!
I can't believe it. I am still in disbelief that I am actually a registered nurse. I took my test on Tuesday 8-28-2007 and my test time was 2:00. After 75 questions that computer didn't shut off so I was certain that I was going to get all 265, but I got to 77 and the computer just shut off. It scared the crap out of me. Not because I thought I failed, but it just scared me and I actually jumped. And then I got an immediate feeling of panic. I didn't feel like I could possibly have gotten enough correct to pass, but I also felt like I couldn't have possibly gotten so many wrong that I failed. Well, I checked like every 5 hours JUST IN CASE they were deciding to be nice, but the cruel people make you wait EXACTLY 48 hours. I checked at 1:57. 1:58, 1:59, and then again and 2:00.. Anyway, I am SOOO happy that I passed. I start a nursing job in the ER at the local hospital on September 17th, so I guess that is my next challenge. I am ready to face it though. Good Luck to everyone taking their NCLEX and congratulations to people that have passed. Feel free to put your story on how to found out you passed!! Have a B-E-A-U-tiful Day!!:balloons:

How many got only 75 questions?
I only got 75 and I am a nervous wreck, it took me approximately 58 minutes.. When it shut off I actually jumped because it scared me. I, like a lot of you, didn't get any metrology questions. Most of my questions were pharmacology of drugs that I' have never heard of, alternate format, and prioritizing. I feel like I couldn't have done that good to pass after 75 questions and I also feel like I couldn't have done that bad to fail after 75 questions. So, I will be a nervous wreck until Thursday. Argh!!! I can't believe I just took the NCLEX!!!:uhoh21:
