  1. Need advice on a situation involving another employee and a patient where I work. One of my other co workers told me that one of our coworkers borrowed $3000 from a patient. I wish she wouldn't of told me because now its just bugging me. That is so unprofessional and I know he will probably get fired if I tell my manager. But who does that. At a loss for what to do. I know what I should do for the better of the patient but I know it will cause a big mess.
  2. Responding to Happy. Nurselet.... I just left a job as an LPN at Centra Care and can tell you I made a lot more than $14 an hour... They pay according to your years of experience and I have over 20 years in so I started out at 19.00 an our and was making a little more when I left the company.
  3. Hello Fire- I am an LPN in the Orlando area. I have lived here since 2002. Since moving here I have worked mainly doctor's offices and did work at an Urgent Care here for almost 2 years. My pay has been anywhere from $12.00 and hour up to $24.50 an hour which is what I make now. I have had over 20 years of experience in many different specialties. If you have any other specific questions message me. Thanks.
  4. Well they only gave us the info for the first semester...Once you pass the first then we will be given the info for the next term...So yes for The 1st semester it's only Wednesdays.
  5. No I am sorry the lab is in the first half(3weeks) and the clinical is in the second half(3 weeks)...No lab in 2nd half...only clinical time at the hospital...
  6. Hey sorry...been so busy... Yes orientation was yesterday and they gave us a ton of info...A lot to take in all at once. The semesters are each 6 weeks only and the first semester, the first 3 weeks is Transition into professional nursing and the 2nd 3 weeks is Maternal Child Nursing. 1st 3 weeks starts May 9th... Our mandatory lab dates are every Wednesday at the Osceola campus 7-5..and at the beginning of each lab theres a mandatory lab orientation you have to go to in person as well. So basically every Wednesday from may 9th till 6-27 theres a once a week lab at the Osceola campus..then 2nd 3 weeks theres also a once a week clinical rotation Wednesday switching off between OB clinical and Peds clinical at either FH-Winter Park and APH or FHS..My Microbio teacher was Dr. Michael Taylor at VCC but I think he's gone now...He was awesome!! People jump thru hoops to get in his class.

  15. Thanks Ms....yes I got the e-mail yesterday and originally dropped off my app in person on 1-12. So I heard back a lot sooner than I would have. The mandatory orientation is on 3-4-16 so I will let ya know after that...Have you applied to the AVS as well??
  16. I got my acceptance e-mail today into the AVS program at Valencia and I start on May 9th, 2016...I am so excited!!
  17. copelin- Where did you apply to? I am surprised you were able to enroll without having all your pre-reqs done. I should graduate in Summer 2017. Right now I am waiting to hear whether I have been accepted in to the fast track Program at Valencia. Have a good day!
  18. Hello, I applied to the AVS program at Valencia for this summer 2016 and am waiting to hear...I dropped off my app and was told I would hear in 5 weeks. The deadline was 1-15 for the app so am so nervous to find out. I have a 3.63 GPA and got a 72 on my TEAS. Not sure where that stands but am optimistic!! Write back when you can!
  19. I am 44 and have been an LPN for 22 years and Spring 2013 I started my LPN to RN bridge pre-reqs while working full time....I took online classes on the ones I could and classroom for the harder classes. I am an A student and have now applied to the AVS program at Valencia at the age of 44. IT IS NEVER TO LATE! For me I have always wanted to go for my RN but A. couldn't afford it. B. Had to work full time. C. Never had any support from the man in my life. Then I met my boyfriend (now husband ) who said "Why don't you go back for your RN if that's what you want?" And it was then that I looked into it and realized I could get pell grants because I was a single mom and could take my classes online and continue working. So now I finished all my pre-reqs, took the summer off to get married and took my TEAS and now have officially applied to the AVS program at Valencia....When people asked me how do you do it...I thought about it this way...The days of your life are going to come and go whether I do anything or not so why not not waste the days you have and FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!! YOU only live once!! If your dream has always been to be an RN and you love the field of Nursing then BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE and since I do LOVE my job and helping those who need it then I am gonna go for it!! Don't let anyone take the wind out of your sails!! You can do it!!
  20. Are you all doing the Traditional program or the fast track?? I applied for the fast track for this coming up summer 2016..
  21. Tay- I applied to the AVS Program at VCC for this summer and haven't been able to find anyone on here who have as well. When I turned in my app the girl at the desk told me that I would know in 5 weeks. Not sure how accurate she is but am anxiously waiting. The wait is agonizing.
  22. I went into LPN school in 1993 and I was 22, have worked as an LPN ever since and I am 44 now. I started doing my Pre-reqs for the AVS Program at Valencia in Spring 2013 and just finished them due to having to work full time while a student. I applied to the program and am awaiting hearing back. It is NEVER too late to go to college and reach your dreams. You are not TOO OLD!! If this is what you want to do then go for it!! If it takes a little longer so be it!!
  23. The app deadline was 1-15-16 and I turned my app in on 1-12-16. When I handed it to the girl at the desk she looked it over and said "you should hear something in 5 weeks." So I am hoping that means their not full yet considering I turned it in kinda late. So crossing my fingers.
  24. Really? Oh wow cool! Yes I learned a ton working there. I started there in 1996 and left in 2002 only because I moved to Orlando in 2002....It was hard to leave Healthsouth.. They hired LPN's a lot back then. I was a fairly new LPN when I was hired there and got 6 awesome years of experience that looks awesome on my resume. They just opened another inpatient Rehab hospital here in Orlando and I tried to possibly land an interview there and being that I'm an LPN they never called me to interview me...Prob because they don't hire them anymore...
