  1. Congratulations on your acceptance! This is an awesome program. I am a current student in my first year. The school year will be divided into trimesters (Spring, Summer& Fall Semesters). During your first two semesters (January-Mid August), classes will be online, but you will be asked to come to Richmond campus (even distance site students) for a short, in-person session at the start and finish of these semesters (2-3 days). You can continue to work full time during these first two semesters if you like. In late August, (start of fall semester) you will begin in-person classes. It is strongly discouraged to continue working at this point in the program. Keep in mind that you will not be given substantial time off between semesters (less than 1 week break between Spring-Summer and Summer-Fall). So keep that in mind if you do not live near campus, and are making plans to move. If possible, it may be easiest to move before the start of your program or during the Spring when the course load is relatively light. I personally moved in August during our break between Summer/fall semester, and found that difficult to pull off. Also, just wanted to add that you will have a month off in December-January of the first year, so there will be a real break eventually!
  2. Got accepted off the waitlist today for Richmond Campus! So pumped!! in my acceptance email, they said they would reach out after September 5th about submitting the deposit
  3. Sorry, I cant answer any questions about the content of the interview, that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the group. You'll do great, take time to study but don't stress out too much!
  4. Just completed my video interview, it was defiantly nerve-racking, but I did my best and I am happy to be done! excited to hear back about final decisions in a few weeks! Best of luck to everyone.
  5. Got invited to interview this morning (interviewing for a spot at the Alexandria campus). As stated above, I believe invitations will continue to roll out, best of luck to everyone!
  6. Hey all, first time CRNA applicant here. I know its a bit early, but has anyone been offered an interview yet? Good luck to everyone!
  7. Soccergod, I'm a current student in Masons ABSN program. You have a good chance of still getting in. Your undergraduate GPA is excellent (alot higher than mine was) as is your prerequisite GPA. I wouldn't give up based on a few less than ideal scores, I definitely had some weak points on my transcripts as did many of my classmates. Just put a lot of effort into your video and essay and get all your documents in on time! Best of luck :)
  8. Hope2Nurse2017, I am also a current ABSN student at Mason. My GPA for my first degree in biology was pretty low (just under a 3.0), although my course load was very challenging (2 semesters of ochem, 2 semesters of physics, 2 semesters of calc, lots of advanced biology classes, you get the point). As someone else mentioned you can make up for a low undergraduate GPA by getting all A's in the prerequisites (or close to it), and by getting a high score on the hesi A2 exam (I had a 94%). Its good that you completed both semesters of A&P before applying...the more prerequisites you complete by the time your application is due, the better. My advice to you is to remember show a little bit of your personality in the video interview...that's your chance to show them what you can't on your transcripts and other documents. Believe it or not, in the field of nursing, a high value is placed on a person who has an upbeat, energetic, and balanced nature. I think I talked about my work and academic experience for the first part of my video and then ended by showing some of my artwork (I paint) and talking about my other hobbies and interests. Just a thought! As for the intensity for the program, I have found it to be very time consuming (which is to be expected) but I have not had trouble getting work done on time or succeeding in the program. The professors are attentive and helpful and and you'll have your fellow students to lean on as well....if you have the desire to succeed you will! Good luck!!!
  9. I tested it and had a friend and family member test it and if you type "GMU Accelerated BSN Fall 2016 Entry" in to the search bar in Facebook the group should pop up. Not sure why it's not working! Maybe if you are Facebook friends with someone in the program they can add you.
  10. It should be searchable... I have the privacy settings set to public. here is the link to the group so you can find it more easily. [link removed]
  11. You're welcome! The facebook group is called "GMU Accelerated BSN Fall 2016 Entry"
  12. Hey everyone! I started a Facebook page for the fall 2016 nursing cohort! Check it out :)
