  1. I won't be applying for at least a year, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the part-time schedule for the nursing program is? 2 days a week? weekends?
  2. Any tips/advice? Where and how do I start? Are part time positions hard to find?
  3. Has anyone heard anything about this? Does anyone have any info?
  4. Thanks for responding. Do you have any insight as to what other students could've been doing wrong to fail by the hundreds? Like do you remember why people in your cohort failed out? What did you do differently to stay in? Tbf I'd much rather stay close to home than have to travel. What campus were you on, any studying advice? Do you remember what GPA/HESI you had when you applied?
  5. I have searched these threads and read nothing but horror stories about Broward College. I was temporarily in an LPN program a few years back and more than half of our class were former Broward students who had been kicked out. I have even had my own past problems with Broward College (see past posts) with their undergrad classes, but was considering retaking my courses so I'd be able to enter Broward nursing next year since its the closest school to me. Should I even bother? I am at Miami Dade College currently, do any past graduates or current students have any information on their nursing program, are they as awful as Broward? Do they fail people out for ridiculous reasons? I remember one LPN classmate told me she was a minute late to clinical due to unexpected traffic and was failed out of the program for that.
  6. I had a quick question. The way its looking like I will possibly have to delay applying for entrance to nursing school until Spring 2022. I will finish my associates in nursing in Summer 2021. When does the cycle open, every January? So I won't have time to apply for the scholarship for January 2022? Tia
  7. I will have completed an associates degree in nursing next year. Do you all know how long will it take to earn my BSN from chamberlain-miramar? Will all my credits transfer in?
  8. Hello I had a question on how GPA is calculated. It's only from the prerequisites, right? Does grade replacement count in the GPA? Also, when is the deadline to apply for fall 2021? I am at MDC and will be finishing my last semester in Summer 2021. Ty
  9. Could I get the study guide too please, [email protected]
  10. Hello, thank you for responding. How long did you study for? What was your technique? Did you see A&P questions you didn't see in your class but saw in the book? If you were me would you take the 16 week course instead? Ty
  11. Does anyone know if we're allowed to complete UCC's the Summer before acceptance? Im applying for fall 2021 but won't be done with my AA until Summer 2021
  12. How has your position been going?
  13. Since this is the first time theyre using TEAS instead of HESI, the initial class scores might be lower and you never know you might get in. Youre applying for this august?
  14. I will basically have to take everything over. Which will put me back 2 years before I even start the prerequisites. I've decided to stay at my current college, the distance is a bit of a struggle but its less of a hassle than trying to go back to BC
  15. Hi moonlight I've been reading this thread and your information has been very helpful. I had a question about clinicals- do you know if any are held in broward? Ill be commuting from broward to (hopefully) the medical campus and while jackson memorial is convenient by public transport, the other clinical that I read MDC has, miami Jewish, is not. What time class usually starts? Is MDC a weedout school? I've read how hard it was for your friend group to find a job. Would it be better for me to do the AA in nursing to transfer and get the BSN instead of the ADN in nursing? If I have to transfer ill be looking to other universities like famu, or fgcu, I heard fiu is impossible to get into. Id prefer to do the ADN and then work at a hospital so they could help pay for the BSN...do you know anything about broward's hospitals?( broward general, plantation, florida medical center, etc) thanks!
  16. Title. Im in a time crunch. The deadline is May 1st of next year to enter in August 2021. I have the momentrix TEAS secret book and pocket prep app. Would you take both A&P's at 8 weeks each, or A&P full term and take the TEAS based off of A&P 1 only? My school requires a 60.
  17. My ultimate end goal is to get a BSN and work for a clinic or health dept preferably. I wonder if its best to just get an associates and transfer to a university, or enroll in an ADN and start working ans earn my BSN part time. The CC I am attending is an hour away from where I live which is slightly an obstacle. With the ADN I am concerned with cramming my prerequisites for fall 2021...I would only be able to take a&p1 this fall before I would have to take the TEAS to make it in time for fall 2021. I also want to apply for the nurse corps to hopefully cover my BSN...I currently have a 4.0 and worry about cramming courses with bad professors and jeopardizing my GPA. I am also on the older side,27, so I anticipate ill be 29-31 depending which route I take. Any insights?
  18. I am a former business major with 13 credits worth of classes past the drop date, so I have to finish them. There is a 6 week a&p1 coming up and wanted to know if it was a good idea...my other classes are-accounting(4cr), speech(3), philosophy(3), math(3cr). Speech, math, and philosophy will apply towards the ADN but the accounting is basically a waste... I wanted to apply for entry in fall of 2021 and was told its better to have both A&P's done before taking the TEAS... My other options are to take both A&P 1&2 in mini terms over fall(8 weeks each) with a teacher who has horrible ratings, or take them in mini terms at a campus much farther away with a decent teacher...this isn't really an option since I take public transport and the classes end too late. I guess I can always just take a&p1 in the fall and a&p2 over Spring next year, but won't I lack info for the TEAS? what should I do?
  19. During my first couple years at BC I was suffering from bad health, all while enrolling in classes-and not attending. I was failed for a total of 56 credits which resulted in a GPA below 1.0. I have since received help and transferred to a community college an hour away and have been holding onto a 4.0 ever since. None of my failed classes transferred in for credit or GPA so I started with a clean slate. I attempted an unsuccessful appeal. From my understanding broward college calculates GPA just from the prerequisites, right? https://www.broward.edu/academics/health-sciences/nursing/index.html So do I have a chance at transferring back to BC and entering their program? Or should I stick with my new community college where I have a 4.0(even won a scholarship). The huge con is its an hour away by car and about 1.5-2 hours by bus(which is my main mode of transport right now).
  20. I've decided to go with LPN. But what can I expect to make, particularly in the Broward County area?
  21. Hello I'm not fully decided on what I want to do woth my life so I decided to go to technical college and pick one of their programs. I've narrowed it down bwtween these two. Any pros/cons of either one?
  22. In the past ive failed out of lvn school due to anxiety. Ive since gotten it mostly under control. Im now at a place where idk what to do...itll take me at least 3 years before i can get into any program at my cc due to the layout of prereqs. Any insight? Anyone a nurse with anxiety/bipolar? I was initially drawn to lab tech because of anxiety but i dont want to "cater" to my disease if you will, plus i hear its very low pay...
  23. I don't think any of these statements really contradict with each other, imo.
  24. "Hard" to get into, as far as number of positions compared to other specialties. Thanks for your response!
