  1. He didn't die after you did CPR. CPR is only done on dead people. He was a child and he was dead for at least a few minutes before you arrived. CPR works less than 10 percent of the time when not in a hospital setting. Being there was a delay in starting iy would have been nearly unbelievable if he recovered. You did the right thing
  2. ((Hugs)) this must be super duper tough to watch. I think the best thing is sitting tight. The withdrawal will be painful but she won't die. Alcohol withdrawal is another beast of its own.
  3. This is tough. Yes you did the wrong thing but you didn't come hear to hear that. The first step is admitting you were wrong, you did just that. Now it's time to say, you are human, you erred, this one error is not going to ruin your life. Rhere are many other jobs out there. And people do understand that a bad stressful shift can cause you to do things you wouldn't ((Hugs))
  4. That is crazy! 8 pts is too many even for the most experienced nurses. Was innaoropriate to give you that assignment. Make sure to submit something in writing, you want it documented how you are being put in dangerous situations.
  5. Update. I decided to go with the IV when I get it I will try to update
  6. Well said. this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I do not think I will accept my position as I don't know if the rest of the program is run in such a haphazard way as well. I am feeling a bit of "we have you at our mercy so be quiet until we tell you anything"
  7. ya I got that. I just thought I'd share that cuz it's a really good tidbit to know
  8. When benadryl is pushed quickly it can cause a terrible episode of chest pain in some patients and a feeling of overwhelming fear being allergic to reglan is no fun! Zofran is not always enough to kick fentanyl nausea
  9. With the IV being so new it's hard to find lots of reviews. I like that it is lighter than some other cardiology scopes i wish there was a store near me that stocks the cardiology scopes and allows for checking em out.
  10. The subject really says it all. There are pros and cons of each. I am starting nursing school and I am getting a stethoscope as a gift which have you tried? What is your experience. I want something that is going to take me through my schooling (goal is DNP) and career as well as be versatile enough for peds and adults. Thanks
  11. if you were told it was a 6 month orientation etc... They are the ones breaking the contract

Tell them, you requested one week off 7months in advance. They have no reason to deny your hard earned PTO. Especially becuse if they don't give it to you, when are you supposed to take it? tell them that you will not be able to come in that week. And if they don't give it as PTO than you will be finding a new place to work. If if you cannot quit becuse there are not better job opportunities than I would tell them that you are calling in.
  14. Your the C to my diff the Ben gay for necks- that's stiff ...gowns to rooms in isolation the RT for intubation ...c-scope for colorectal cancer prevention lasix pill for fluid retention
  15. I was switched from morphine to diluadid as the morphine wasn't enough to knock out the pain. The dikaudid still left me in pain but I was able to sleep for at least 20-30 min after each dose. I had the nurses push it super slowly because it got very nauseous and sick when it was pushed quickly. I didn't get any high feelings and did not get any addiction but when I was switched to tramadol (preventing bowel perforation with megacolon) I had terrible cold sweats and couldn't stop shaking. tip: reduce dosage slowly when possible. Give Ativan a few hours after last dose of diluadid
  16. It is the schools problem not yours. You don't have to jeapordize your dreams, careers, and education because of their decision. Depending on the program you may or may not have been accepted because of being male etc... however, a nearly perfect gpa says a lot about a candidate for nursing school
  17. You're my tramadol for colitis the PT for interstitial cystitis youre the lovenox for the clots ...IT for EMR bots ...IV team for rolling veins ...ibuprofen for ankle sprains
  18. Umn some people may have disability accomadations to show up late or leave in middle. Their tardiness is not something that need to justify with you, just to the faculty if the program. While I agree that it is a privilege and you need to work hard, someone sounds the tiniest bit bitter about the whole situation. I have learnt the hard way that being critical and bitter about other students will not help you succeed. Instead use this as an opportunity to do what is right and stand out. The ones who are not competent will be weeded out through various testing processes and nclex
  19. Thanks so much!! These tips are great!! im starting in the fall and want to do as well as possible.
  20. I was under the impression that you can only select one answer in multiple choice questions on the current format. The new one allows multiple selections.
  21. Hey! so apparently there is a new type of test that will include multiple choice questions with the option to select multiple answers. There will also be a sequencing section, identify images, and fill in section. i have heard secondhand from nursing instructors that this will be more difficult than the previous exam. I am curious to hear others opinions. IMHO the original exam was not amazing because it didn't ensure that you had the knowledge of how to be a good nurse, rather it was ensuring you can take an exam.
  22. Overall I am not very impressed with how much info we were given or the amount of time it took to notify us of the decisions. I felt rush did a much better job of telling us about the program etc... however, the program itself is supposed to be excellent so...
  23. I know they pay tuition, book and supply fees and pay a monthly stipend. They require you to work in specific settings for 2 years after completion of school. It does guarantee you a job but you will be limited there is quite a bit of paperwork. Read up on it im trying to figure out if i want to apply
  24. I know this is years later but as of now no diets have been shown to improve inflammation. The CCFA is going to do some studies now. For or a patient who has active inflammation in the colon ans is experiencing bleeding or many bowel movements than a low residue and fiber diet can help minimize that. Many people find improvement in symptoms with FODMAPs diet or SCD diet
  25. Congrats to those who got their acceptances!
