  1. I can't imagine why you'd leave nursing. There's so many different things you can do and different places you can go. But, good luck to you! I hope you find what you're looking for!
  2. Thanks for that clarification! I was just going to start calling around to check on all of this. Can't wait to meet all of you!
  3. I know this is old, but try remote area medical :-)
  4. I needed to hear this tonight. I think I am just spazzing over something I can fix. I'm sure everyone has bumps in the road. The advisors from UNCW were not concerned with the F as long as I keep a 2.5. Which is no issue. I am normally an A/B student. Thanks so much for your reply. I definitely appreciate it.
  5. I really appreciate the feedback! Very good advice. Thank you so much. And congratulations on the completion of your first semester and good luck in the ones ahead.
  6. Hi everyone! So I start my ADN program at GTCC this Fall. I figured I'd get ahead of my BSN while I waited for August to roll around and take Microbiology. It killed me and I'm going to fail. I'm devastated. I'd like to provide a big long sob story as to why I messed up so badly, but honestly my head just wasn't in it. (Better that happens now right?) Now I'm kicking myself because Im not sure I have time to retake it while in the ADN program (it's not required for my ADN) and it will crush my GPA if I don't. My questions for all of you pertain to new grad programs at the hospitals. 1) Is this one bad grade going to ruin my life as a new grad nurse in the job market? 2) Should I retake or wait until my RN-BSN program? (UNCW online says the F is no big deal for them) 3) Is it really as competitive as everyone says for new grad academies? 4) I'm working as a CNA now and volunteering in the ED. Should I try for my phlebotomy and EKG certs? Will this make a difference getting hired as a nurse later? How would you suggest I make myself more marketable starting now? 5) Do ADNs even get hired at hospitals anymore? I know that's a lot of questions and truly appreciate any insight. Thanks so much!
  7. Nope! No thanks!
  8. Yep! Sent her two emails, left two messages and emailed the admissions director too. Absolutely nothing back. Would you please let me know if you get an email back from her?
  9. Yeah no one will email or call me back. So frustrating! Starting to get worried.
  10. Did you guys accept via email? I did and haven't receive a confirmation that Ms. Dalton got my email. Thanks.
  11. You should call to make sure they have your correct info.
  12. Hi everyone! So I'm gonna be obnoxious and toot my own horn for a second. I applied last semester with 58 points and got in. I had to decline because nights weren't going to work well. I have 61 points this semester and I haven't received anything so I don't think anyone else did either. Try not to worry too much. GTCC is overwhelmingly unorganized in every aspect. So, this is normal. I would guess that letters have not even been sent out yet. I was told that there were 112 applicants, 85 will be accepted. Of those 85, 15 are alternates. Nearly all of the alternates receive acceptance calls after the seat acceptance deadline passes for the regular accepted students. There was a large number of applicants with single digits for points. I'm fairly you'll all be fine. I hope this helps guys! I'll see you all next semester!
  13. Don't worry about humanities. Take hum115 with Rawley online. It actually frustrating, how easy it is. As far as TEAS, I took it yesterday and got an 84.7! Not a clue how that happened. I did study for it though. There were over 10 others in that room taking the same test. Not everyone passed, judging by their faces. Which stinks. My printout with results said the program average score at GTCC is only 64. I thought the test was hard. Or annoying. I'm not sure which one because I was nervous. I ended up with 61 points altogether because the requirements changed. I'm also sad that ACA course didn't count because that class was awful! I think that there's just some changes going on at GTCC. Regardless of these changes, the pass rate and NCLEX pass rate at GTCC are still some of the best as far as community colleges go. It will be fine guys! Hard, but fine! Stop worrying and be excited for the letters coming in 2 weeks! í ½í¸† Good luck!
