I should point out that just because someone is dying, that does not necessarily mean they are always in pain. I had family members arguing with each other the other day that their family member was in pain or not in pain. One sister wanted me to give morphine and the other sister did not. I told them both that I did not feel the patient was in pain at that time and that she was resting peacefully. I held the morphine, but if I thought she was in pain at all, I would have given it instantly. It really is the nurse's call.

It is hardly affordable. Premiums are doubling and tripling. You don't get to keep your Doctor. It is nothing like what they said it would be. It is a nightmare

I had a patient who could not pee unless she had warm water slightly dribbled on the coccyx. Not sure why, but it worked.

Im a new nurse and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on what to discuss with doctors when rounding with them. Should I use SBAR? I was always told in school to use SBAR, but I feel like a real moron reading off the SBAR to the Doctor. I really want to improve my communication skills. Im welcome to any tips. Thanks, Justin

As a male nurse I think it is about protecting yourself a lot of times from false accusations. I prefer not to perform female catheters but I will if a female nurse or NAC is present. As a guy you are more prone to accusations that can cost you your license.
