  1. There may be a possibility...a very small possibility that your license may be delayed. But it does vary state by state, some states don't punish you if it's expunged and it happened 5+ years ago. Others factor in your age, how many times it occurred, and if you paid your dues or not. I would do some research on how your state would handle these things. Also I don't why you should delay your pregnancy on whether or not your license will be delayed because you never know. If you feel like you are truly come to end or whether you will get pregnant then I don't see why you can't just get pregnant while still in process of getting your license, criminal record or not.
  2. Are you saying your school allows 3 repeats per class? If so then of course you have a chance to get in. But I would advise for you to not to take another science or math class with A&P or continuing using the same study habits that hasn't worked for you in the past.
  3. I'm sorry life has not been easy for you, as well as coping with your depression and lost of your brother. I say that a 3.52 is good enough to get into a nursing program but as far as those hiccups go you need to find a lenient, less competitive nursing program where they would look only at your pre-reqs, GPA, and admission exam. It also wont hurt you to apply as many nursing programs as you can to increase your chances. Even if that chance includes an LPN program. You might even have to look out of state, but all-in-all it will be worth it.
  4. It's a catholic private university... But as far as I know they told me the laptop is $0.
  5. I know this might not relate to nursing but I need help nonetheless... I'm finishing up my pre-reqs as a pre-nursing student this fall ( I started school in the summer) and my school is giving all incoming freshmans for the fall and all current freshmans (from the summer) free laptops for us to keep as our own personal use. However, only a certain group of students can pick up their laptops next Monday if they were conditionally admitted into the school if they scored below a 22 in math on the ACT (they have to be in a math program). I was that student who scored a 21, so of course I was conditionally admitted for this fall. But I took a test similar to the compass where I tested out of being conditionally admitted, so long story short I received an email, 8 days ago from the Dean of Students telling me to come pick up my laptop on Monday. I've been trying to get in touch with the DOS for 8 days straight but they are not answering their phones or emailing me back, so should I just go pick up my laptop even though I'm "technically" not allowed to get it yet? The email addressed my processing number, the assigned brand, and the room I'm supposed to pick it up in. I'm sorry for the long post, I tried to make it short as possible though.
  6. They'll admit just about anyone so make sure you get at least a 75% on the HESI for math and reading and a "C" in all 24 transfer credit hours...
  7. Can you pin-point the specific reason why you've may have received two B's in your chem classes? Because if you know the reason why you didn't get A's in those science classes then you can change your study habits (or whatever) to make sure you can get them A's in your final prequisites classes. Also do you know an estimate of when you would take your Teas? If it's January or February then I would start getting the necessary study materials now and begin taking it day by day. Because even if you don't get the overall GPA you're looking for you can still do amazing on the Teas and it will make up for it.
  8. I'm sorry if I offended you with my comment, but throwing the comment out was also not my intent to bash Holistic Care. All I was saying is that when I attended orientation the whole focus of the program seems to be Holistic Care. Yes, I do attend a Catholic school so I feel as this is one of the main reasons why it may be Holistic focused because of the inner being spirituality principals my instructors all spoke of. But I've also met a lot of doctors and nurses who practiced Holistic Care that day and the speciality does appeal to me. I really like my school and I'm not prejudiced in any way to stop attending a school just because it is Catholic. Because I was raised differently and was not exposed to religion to be completely surrounded in it can make a person feel uneasy at first you wouldn't know how to act around certain people, but I'm getting used to it. Also I meant my statement of my school "suffocating" me as I as though you just can't expressed yourself how you really want to express yourself. But that small issue is not enough for me to stop attending my school but I've met some really great people and I do want to give the Holistic Care practice a shot. Lol, sorry for my grammer; it's 7am in the morning and I don't have time to edit it.
  9. Definitely go for your ASN. Even though you would finish much sooner with the BSN I still don't recommend getting into that much debt. Just work with the loans you got, go for you ASN, then find a hospital that will reimburse you for your BSN. Also your RN-BSN program shouldn't even take up a good deal of your time since you have most of your general education down pack ( I recommend Western Governors University if you choose the RN-BSN route since it has a flat rate each term).
  10. Lol, I didn't make the thread and no I'm a good kid.
  11. This is actually what I am really afraid of and would probably lose many of my friends that I just made. My parents told me to just go along with it because they don't want me feeling octracised. Because we actually don't start our nursing program until Jan. 10 in the university but until then I want to make a lot of friends as possible this summer (we started school June 15th).
  12. Well for one it's a very prestigious university that will no doubt open many doors for me. And I was never exposed to religion as I am now at this school, most of my classmates are all Catholics and alway wants to pray before study time or to take an exam, so I just go with it. But I never felt this uncomfortable around religion until I came to this school, and now I'm just suffocating in it. There is even a cathedral a walk ways from my dorm. You just can't get away from it.
  13. Lol, they may require that but there will people who will apply with a 3.5 or above. My nursing program requires you to have a 3.5 to even be considered, so there will be people who are applying with a 4.0 or above if they took any honors on a 5.0 scale (there was a girl who got a 4.0 and got waitlisted because she supposedly had a "W''). Never be deceived by the minimum requirements, at least aim for a 3.0 or higher.
  14. No, but my school boasts on being holistic focused.
  15. You worked two jobs while going to school and only earned a "C"? I don't know about you but I find that very admirable. Because the only reason why I got A's was because I chose not to work and I just had so much free time on my hands to study up to 6 hours daily, plus time to read a novel for fun. So I commened you on that, and just try not to be so hard on yourself all the time.
  16. I totally agree with you. Religion makes me so uncomfortable, and before I came upon this post I honestly thought that all nurses would be required to show some kind of spiritual support. But I guess not.
  17. If a psych floor is not what you're looking floor or wanting to go back to then I wouldn't take the assignment. Because if you do happen to take the floor then you'll just be settling for anything. But it's ideally up to your decision if you choose to go through with it or not.
  18. If you actually end up unintentionally failing the course then retaking it will be the only option you'll most likely have. Also I'm sure no one really has a definite answer for you since it's your future and it should be your own decision if you want to drop the course or not...but MsCupcakes has given some good advice on first checking with all 7 of your schools lol. They can give you a true definite answer.
  19. I second this. If you are receiving a really low grade in the class and the school you're applying to is looking for "stellar" then by all means drop the class then prove yourself to be more than capable.
  20. Yes, nursing programs are soo competitive these days that some even requires no "W" (my school is like that). I also heard that some nursing programs have certain tier groups where they place students into "tier 1" if they repeated no classes, and the "tier 2" students are the ones who repeated a class (though I'm not entirely sure how this would affect the chances of being accepted and I doubt it pertains to you). So I would just look into your schools first and see what their requirements are before you make any final decision and mess yourself up entirely from getting into even 4 of those 7 schools. If most of the schools have conflicting requirements then I would just pick your top 3 schools and go by their rules first (a safe school should be in that top 3).
  21. Thank you for being so encouraging! And seeing children in pain hits home where my young neice was always in pain, suffering from Acute Chest Syndrome.
  22. Thank you for responding, and yeah lol I've definitely learned my lesson, I am now taking out an hour a day to study for the test. Also I don't want to sound unintelligent but I honestly never thought of clinicals revolving around just learning how to be a CNA as well. I know we have to learn the general basics of actually being a bedside nurse, but I initially thought we would learn it all in the classroom. Wow, I guess I should do a little more research on it , and your post is actually aspiring me right now of wanting to become a CNA more than ever. I really want to be a very good nurse and if it'll help me to become that then I'll just go ahead and row with it.
  23. Thank you for responding! And I do agree with you on connecting with other students, especially since I will be attending a university and dorming with other future nurses. Also would you recommend that I should get my CNA license next summer? I'm just really nervous that it either may kill me physically or open my eyes completely about the nursing profession, and I may not want to do it anymore. But that'll probably just make me too naive, shielding myself from nursing realities.
  24. Wow that is very informative. I actually start nursing school in the spring and the only thing that comes to mind when I think about it is clinicals and med/surg. I don't really think too much on the work aspect but I am sorta like you too, I believe I can go in and knock out all these classes as well (my school will be a direct entry so no pre-reqs are needed). And yeah studying 8-10 hours daily is like watching a movie with no sound. I've tried that method before and I definitely won't be going back to it.
  25. Peds nurses how are you able to detach yourself emotionally from hurting children and babies? I can't even watch a 5 min clip of children in the ER without crying about it. I wanted to be a pediatric nurse in a children's hospital but not anymore.
