The mid-wilshire district??
yeah the housing market has changed in Atl over the years. My 2br east of the city out in Lithonia is $1100 and it's not a highrise or exceptionally luxurious or anything like that (and I have a sucky commute to and from work) it's just gated and not as old as some of the other apts in the area. I'm over here b/c I got booted out of my old house which was on the outskirts of Buckhead until someone decided to start throwing up cookie cutter mansions on my street and I started seeing signs being put up about my little neighborhood becoming a "live, work, play" next thing I know we couldn't afford the property taxes anymore...but that's another story. I just figured that if $1100 buys what I have now in atl will that equate to a "shack" in LA or somewhere with bullets whizzing by my head when I step out the door, or schools where my child isn't safe. I really do want to be adventerous and move to Cali but it's kinda scary b/c I don't know as much about the different areas as I wish I did. I think I would probably be ok w/o my car I have been debating whether or not to leave it behind. Atl isn't very friendly either for those without cars. The couple of times that I did take the subway in LA it seemed ok but I did notice that It didn't really go anywhere and I would probably have to get a bus too to go to any non tourist places. I'm not sure how I would do in Atl w/o my car which is why I'm not sure about not having one in Cali. I hoping to secure my job first and then go from there...I guess I'll get this figured out eventually ...somehow. Thanks for all of your input though

The mid-wilshire district??
I saw some of the units on apartmentguide dot com and also some on a website of a developer that bought like some of the old hollywood hotels or something and converted them into apt units. I'm looking for a two bedroom and they had some on their site for like $1100+ which looked pretty good in the pics. It just seemed too good to be true...and you how how the old saying goes. I can't even find a new or newly renovated 2br highrise in atl for that low of a price so it just made me wonder...what the heck is wrong with that area?? The website is swelgroup dot com ...am I allowed to put web addresses on here? (hope so...) Thanks for the input

The mid-wilshire district??
Can anyone tell me what this area is like? Why do I keep finding so many listings for unbelievably cheap apartments? Is it that bad there?

should i take a ucla job??
Hi Blee...I too live in Atlanta and I'm also thinking of relocating to LA and have an upcoming interview with UCLA. I see you said you'll be graduating this summer. Have you already started looking at your housing options for when you move out to LA? I think that has been my biggest concern is how will I be able to afford housing? Well I hope everything is going well for you in school and I'm open to any advice you are able to give. Thanks... Mimi

So confused...and a little nervous
Ok...so I am planning to relocate to the Los Angeles area from Atlanta by the end of the year. The problem is I'm not sure what area to live in. I've only been to Cali as a tourist and the times that I was there I never ventured into any of the "real" neighborhoods to get a feel for different areas. Is it possible to find a 2br apt that is remotely near my potential employer (Mattel Children's hospital at UCLA) for under $2000/month or at least accessible by public transportation in an area where I don't have to be worried about nightly gunshots or robberies and also have a decent elementary school nearby for my daughter. All of the areas that I have visited have been really nice but I have also heard some not so good things about some areas. Also does anyone work at the Mattel Children's Hosp or have heard/know anything about it pos or neg? Any and all comments are greatly appreciated!!! Thank you so much you guys are all so helpful

Question About Mosby's Cat
Hi...I used the Mosby CAT and found it to be very helpful. Although it says your ID will work for 30 days, my ID continues to work even though 30 days came and went a long time ago. Don't know if I got lucky with that or what. Between Mosby, Kaplan, and Saunders I did many practice questions and was able to pass the NCLEX with 75 questions. Good Luck to you. Chermene, RN

Just Took My Nclex Today
Hi, I feel your pain all too well. I just took my NCLEX on the 16th and I felt like the biggest dummy ever afterwards b/c it cut off after 75 questions and I was 99.999% sure that I had failed. Have faith in yourself and your abilities and try to hang in there, Good luck to you. :) Chermene, RN

NCLEX shut off around 82+
I just took my NCLEX on the 16th and your test sounds similar to mine. MANY choose all that apply and MANY priority questions. The computer shut off at 75 for me and I thought I was going to die and just knew that I had failed miserably. But after being on these forums I read that many priority questions was a good sign and those are higher level questions. Turns out they were right because 48 hours later I found out that I passed. Almost no one feels good after that dreadful test. Hang in there because from what you said it sounds like you did just fine. :)

The most embarrasing thing you've done at work!
My most embarassing moment Happened in nursing school... LOL I will never forget my first day of clinicals. I was terrified and I felt like I had no clue what I was doing. Well I got "lucky" and there weren't enough patients to go around so I got sent to endoscopy to observe procedures. Man!!! How about I ended up fainting after watching all the bile swimming around in the containers and on the TV screen. :chuckle Talk about being embarassed!
