  1. Also, it took almost two weeks from the day I took the exam that my actual license was issued to me. And I started the application process in February 2015, so I was very much on top of things.
  2. I completely understand your frustration. I called my school several times and requested extra transcripts because I was convinced that they were not being received. Meanwhile, many of my cohorts had already passed the exam. I started to feel behind as I wanted to take the exam right away, but I used that time to study lightly every day and did my best to be patient. My advice would not to to contact the BON, they will likely just brush it off. I would however update HR at your new job, I think that they will understand.
  3. Hey there. I applied for licensure by examination as well from another state. I want to say that I sent my transcript on May 17th 2015 and I did not get approved to take the exam until the beginning of July. I was also very frustrated, but I had no other choice. Luckily, I was able to schedule my test for a week from the date I was approved by Pearson Vue.
  4. Im not sure if you are considering moving, but I have to tell to you that Brunswick Hospital is a terrible choice. I work in this county, but not at the hospital and I have to tell you that I hear terrible things from my coworkers and my patients. They have an awful reputation and its in the middle of nowhere. Nurses quit left and right and just walk out. I would not be surprised if it is closed down due to lack of funding/profit. NHRMC is a much better choice. good luck!
  5. It will absolutely show on your background check when they finger print you. Do just what they ask and explain. Do you have paperwork on file in your home that proves it was expunged?
  6. I can't imagine work life without CNAs or techs... They are front line in the health care process.
  7. I would not repeat those courses. And your transcript will reflect when you took a course over again and I feel like that looks worse. You seem very driven and passionate about getting into nursing school and this should be reflected on your application. Do you have volunteer experience? Do you have health care work related experience? What about an awesome entrance essay or good scores on the TEAS exam (if your institution offers this). There are many factors to consider when getting into nursing school and having all A's isn't the driving force.
  8. Thank you! It sounds like they are being very supportive! If you need any advice or help in the future job hunt once you plan to move, message me on here!
  9. I passed earlier this month.
  10. I love wilmington. You have the historic, river front downtown with lots of restaurants and cafes and it's so lively. Then you have the relaxed beach end with lots of outdoor activities. It's the best of both worlds. Plus, I've had six job offers since being here. So I would never worry about the jov market.
  11. Have you had the misdemeanor expunged? If so, this will not show up on a standard background check. And if it hasn't been, I suggest applying to have it sealed. I have gone through this process myself and I am now a licensed RN.
  12. I agree, I think a lot of people don't know how to follow through. Or else I suspect she was charging a lot of money to a cc. Unless of course she used a gift card or something. I have noticed that people who post of the PVT trick being inaccurate have really just not used it correctly.
  13. Yes, it is. But don't just assume you have failed. All this stress will be a distant memory soon. You have this!
  14. She stated that she did the trick for the remainder of the day, that to me sounds like the same day she took the exam. Read her comment again.

The only reason that they give you those looks or criticism is because they are grooming you to be the best possible nurse you can be. It is all a learning experience and no one wants to see you fail. Remember, every nurse you have met at one point in their life knew nothing about medicine. We all start from scratch. They want to breed the best possible nurses because after all, we are responsible for lives and well being of other humans! You can do this!
  16. Don't fret! I've read in several places that it could mean they are just verifying transcripts or other information. I recently passed my N-CLEX RN in 75 questions and I can tell you that I even though I felt anxiety, I was still i sure I passed. The likelihood of you failing at 75 is VERY slim. Good Luck!
  17. You didn't do it right. You are suppose to wait 24 hours after you take your boards to do the trick. And everyone who makes your argument didn't wait the 24 hours. Everyone I went to nursing school with used the trick and it worked for every, single one of them.
  18. So, I started my first nursing job at LTC last week and I've only been on the floor five times. During this week, I have been floated to a different unit and have been trained by four different people AND have been left alone to do the work for hours on end. I feel so unsupported and helpless. I haven't received a lunch yet and no one checks on me or offers to give me a break. Plus they still use paper MARS, half of which are falling out of the book and I constantly feel like I am going to make a mistake. Im giving meds to residents and I don't even know why they get them as I still haven't had time to read their charts. I have two interviews coming up, one at a hospital and one a community clinical and I am ready to never show up at this facility again! Help!
  19. So, I thought this day would never come and alas it has and I could not be more excited and relieved. I graduated this past May from nursing school in NY, but moved to NC and wanted to take my boards there so it took a little longer to get proved. In the meantime I wasn't working as you can't under permit here so I bought Saunders Comprehensive Review and answered every question in the book (around 100 a day) and only reviewed what I got wrong in the content. This was the only resource that I used and I highly recommend it. I received my ATT mid June and scheduled my boards for July 1st. I did the drive by the day before and took them at 8am the following day. I highly recommend taking them early in the morning if a slot is available, this way you aren't stewing all day waiting around. I wasn't very familiar with a lot of the content, but it's N-CLEX and you can't predict what's going to be on there. I had a lot of SATA (which is a good thing) and the pharm wasn't too bad, maybe 5 questions. Mine shut of at 75 questions and I was honestly very relieved. I checked the PVT later that day and got the "good pop up" and again the next day to confirm the first result. I was almost positive that I passed after seeing this. The trick does work! Every person that I have spoken to from school has used it and 100 percent of that was dead on. I paid for quick results July 3rd and BOOM, I'm an RN! My advice-don't over study on content. Just get one book and stick to it. A lot of people did review courses, but I didn't because I didn't feel it was necessary. I passed and saved 400 bucks. But, that is all preference. Hope this helps!
  20. I just moved to Wilmington, NC and the hospital system here is always hiring. I'm waiting to take my boards so I don't have a job yet, but they seem to have a lot of openings as I hear advertisements frequently.
  21. Hello! I have recently moved to Wilmington and just graduated from Nursing School in upstate NY. I did a GreenJob One-Way interview and never heard back. Can you give me insight onto what you did to get hired there? Please and thank you!
