Best City to Work/ Have a Career in
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if you would share where you work? My husband and I have been looking to relocate but can't seem to agree on a location. I'm shocked that nurses with 5+ years of experience can make that much without OT. I usually check the BLS website for mean annual salaries and for RNs in Minneapolis it states about $76,000 a year. The cost of living around there, at least as far as real estate, seems high.

Boston RNs
What better way is there to learn about income and affordability in your career if you're relocating then by asking nurses who live and work in your designated destination?

Boston RNs
That doesn't sound bad. What general area do you live in if you don't mind my asking.

Boston RNs
I have my BSN and OCN with 4+ years experience in acute care for adult hematology/oncology. I'm looking for a position in oncology but wouldn't mind trying critical care either. I've been reading that it's extremely difficult to find a job in Boston without knowing someone which is daunting.

Boston RNs
I've been looking in areas surrounding Boston such as Lynn, Medford, Winchester, etc. Most of the rent prices I see are $2500+. We're looking for at least a 2 bedroom in a good school district.

Boston RNs
Hey everyone. Just wondering if any RNs in the Boston area would be willing to share their hourly pay/monthly income? I'm wondering how anyone affords to live/work in this area with rent prices! My husband and I are looking to relocate but can't seem to agree on a location, and Massachusetts is on our list. Any help is appreciated!

San Diego Wages and Patient Ratios
I am in a very similar situation. Looking to move to San Diego with my husband and 1 year old son. My husband is also in school and we are living on just my income. Wondering if you ever found out if it's possible to make it on just your income as an RN in San Diego? Did you make the big move yet?

San Diego Area Nurses
Hello. My husband and I are thinking of relocating to the San Diego area since he has family there. We had been considering some east coast cities, but I love the idea of living in SoCal. I'm wondering how other nurses find the affordability of living in San Diego county. My husband is in school full-time and stays home with our toddler son, so we have been living on just my income which gets us by in Pennsylvania (we're about an hour outside of Philly). I have my BSN and OCN with four years of experience. Would anyone have any idea what I might make in this area, and if it would be affordable living on just my income?

NHRMC or Novant?
That sounds horrible, glad your pay wasn't affected at least. Thanks for the response.

NHRMC or Novant?
Hi everyone! My husband and I are thinking of relocating to either Wilmington, NC or Charleston, SC, leaning more towards Wilmington. I have read some pretty mixed reviews on NHRMC, but not much about Novant - Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia, NC. Does anyone have any experience with these places and could say if they like working there or not? I'm wondering about pay, nurse-to-patient ratios, scheduling, PTO, benefits, etc. I currently live about an hour from Philadelphia and make just under $27/hr. I have my BSN and OCN with about 4 years of experience - any idea what I might make at either of these places? Any info would be appreciated!
