  1. Tell me about it, night shift, 4 years here. i feel tired and sick every day. i've become an old man quickly at 24.
  2. best of luck to you, i have nothing to add to this post. but my mom has stage 4 melanoma. and i've been there while she goes through all her surgeries and all the tears she cries afterwards. i hope you make a full recovery. any one with cancer has my blessings. :)
  3. you are looking at the king of burn out. the current job im at. sucks, point blank. been here for 4 years. i guess thats what i get for working in a prison while going to school lol. the best advice i can give you is, look for a different career. you can get burnt out in anything you do. just either have to deal with it. or change it.
  4. yeah, if you want to go to college in texas. be prepared to take an extra semester in anything you do. they have more remedial classes than any state ive ever been to. its daunting.
  5. yes, i bought my GF some resistance bands. and she works out in her office with them when she has down time. Good luck on what ever you do. i know diets are a hard thing to stick to. but just take care of your self. because no one else will.
  6. i am a male, and i do not run. i am muscular, and that increases the rate at which my body burns calories. BMR goes up basically. i can eat between 1800 and 2200 and still lose weight. if your an athletic female, or just semi in shape. you could lose weight on 1500/day. 1200 a day is starvation.
  7. To be honest. i've talked with other paramedics. and one guy who has been on a Rig for 20 years said he's only inserted a foley cath 3 times in his career. so i mean, getting used to them just well enough to perform one, would be ok with me. because like i said, its going to be a rare case when one needs put in anyways.
  8. The hospital here is small. They dont have any specialist at this hospital. Pretty much. They are a stationary ambulace they just stabilize and transfer.....they suck. No one in this town goes there because they have a bad rep for killing people.
  9. The nurse tried first. But when it got stuck in the urethra. The ER Dr. Came and did it.
  10. so...... im in paramedic school, and i almost passed out while a Dr. was inserting a Foley cath into a patient. and the patient could not urinate. so they go to put the foley cath in, and it hits the blockage. and they cannot get the cath into the bladder. so the Dr. begins thrusting the cath into the member with all his might over and over again. and then blood starts coming through the cath tube and out the sides of the opening of the urethra. come to find out. the patient has sickle cell. and the shedded cells ended up in his bladder and clogged the urethra. was interesting. any one else ever see this before?? also, i don't know how well im going to handle putting in a foley Cath after that. i felt severely faint. and the room got really got. i had to sit down and put a water bottle on my head lol. any one ever experience this? tips? advice?
  11. As a former Tech guy. i have to say..... you just can't replace the Good ole laptop. sure there are advantages to a tablet like mobility. but there is just more flexibility with a laptop. also, any smart phone these days is basically a small tablet. you can even get the blue tooth keyboard for it.
  12. i eat 1800 calories a day to lose weight, i wake up and eat a small 300 Cal meal and then i have a snack or 2 before my other 400-500 cal meal for lunch. then my last meal is right when i get off work. or some times while im at work i get too hungry from running on a busy night. but i go to bed as soon as i get home. so that way i don't over eat. for a zero calorie "filler" i eat the Gel-O low calorie cups from walmart. they have like 5 calories each in them. i eat those if im hungry when i wake up or before i go to bed.
