  1. Yeah. Luckily at the hospital I work for, we get 3 x 15min breaks and 1 x 30min lunch.
  2. I know CHOC only hires BSN now for new grads. If you really want NICU at choc. Just find an RN job there meantime and do your BSN Choc also hires Fellows (experienced RN's that wants to go to pediatric specialties) I had a coworker who worked for Pediatrics ER and ended up in a fellowship program for NICU.
  3. I work night shifts. 1900-0730 and that's PEDS ER. This is my usual routine 1500 or 1530 wake up and drink a preworkout and head straight to the gym 1730 get home from the gym and eat dinner 1830 leave home for work 0750-0800 get home from work; quick protein shake and knockout TRY TO SLEEP before 0830 and repeat I usually sleep 6.5 - 7hours or sometimes 7.5 I try not to binge eat after work so I usually pop a protein shake right away.
  4. I usually workout before my shifts. After the workout, I feel I have lots of energy for the shift. Usually when I miss my pre-work workouts, I usually have no energy at work. I believe working out before the shift is the best. It gets my blood flowing and feel awake during my shift.

1year experience as PEDS ER. Got my CPEN within 6months of working. Now trying to work on my CEN without adult ER experience. Tips? Currently have the 6th edition Emergency nursing core curriculum by ENA. Will also get the CEN review (tests questions) by ENA. Anything else good for resource?
  6. I live in my own apartment. I'm paying my loans. Paying rent. And definitely not starving. Able to manage it. Don't generalize
  7. I went to WCU. Loans are manageable. Got a job within 1 month after passing nclex (acute care hospital). Had multiple interview opportunities and job offers.
  8. That would be a hassle. Specially if you start your clinicals and nursing classes. My gf is from San Diego. She started just commuting to school. She got tired of it and eventually just got an apt. She's from WCU too.
  9. Not everyone is suited to work for centinela. My 0.02 cents.
  10. centinela offers low. But they pay overtime after 8 hours. If you calculate right, centinela pays decent.
  11. Thank you. I'm trying to look for answers online. Clients status changed so quick from rapid response. Client unresponsive but eyes open and dilated w/ pulse to code blue. Client was still speaking this morning. -_-
  12. Hi. I'm a new RN. First ever participating on a code blue I was not the primary nurse for patient. Anyways my question is, While we're doing acls for patient, large amount of Dark-brown discharges was coming out from Oral while doing the code. We filled the auction container right away. What are those dark brown discharges? When do MD think it's time to intubation the patient? It felt like forever until we incubated the patient. I know pt was a dialysis patient and hadn't have dialysis for awhile. Thank you.
