  1. Then don’t put that crap in your body and don’t finish nursing school it’s that simple. If you don’t follow the rules of the facility they will not let you in that is how it was in my program. For instance we had a girl that had a conviction for an open container on her background. The hospital she was supposed to go to denied her and they had to find one to accept her. Even with that acceptance it was very limited for her. So ask yourself do I wanna finish my degree or do I not want to “put that crap” in my body? Also how are you going to educate and promote health awareness if you yourself don’t want to have vaccinations?
  2. Usually before applying it is a requirement that both a&p 1&2 be done and for my school micro before the third semester. I think it would be hard for them to base an acceptance on just half of the info.

You could try a providers office that’s probably gonna be the best bet for no weekends or holidays. It may not be the best pay but it’s an ideal schedule. In my experience with home health, the LPN was always the first call during the week and second on the weekend if there was a Baylor nurse. That being said the week you would be on, you might be drawing labs 30 miles from home at 6am.
  4. Was it in the curriculum for the last semester? It’s usually part of that and is explained at the beginning of the last semester. I know when I graduated with my associates, if a student failed to pass the HESI 2xs then their paperwork would not be sent into the state and they would have to come in and take a mandatory review course. The paperwork that is filled out for the state during the last semester, is what matters not the degree or the transcript. A person can hold a degree in nursing but at the same time If the school doesn’t send the paperwork in because they did not satisfy requirements ,it will mean nothing. Just like if someone went through nursing school and graduated top of their class if they didn’t meet state requirements say they lied about a crime etc they couldn’t take the NCLEX.

Hi all. Advice needed here. I’ve been a nurse for almost 3 years. I really wanted to do the ER when I graduated but got turned down because I was a new grad (even though other new grads where hired in it). I feel stuck. I’m so unhappy with my nursing career and I don’t feel like I’ll achieve happiness till I scratch that itch of the ER. Please advise and no negative or rude comments we all see that daily in life. Thanks.
  6. I'd give her report at the nurses station. If she walked off from the report, well I do believe I'd tell charge so my a$$ would be covered, and then I'd clock out and go home. If she's a staff nurse then "chart review" is not her job. It's just her job to do her review not go through your charting.
  7. I'd get out now sounds like poor mgmt and it probably won't get any better.

New nurse almost 8mths to the day. I work on a m/s floor at a small hospital. I dread my job everyday. As a new nurse I get zero respect from others both licensed and non licensed. I've had 7 pts while another nurse has one. I feel like my voice isn't heard and most days I question myself into what the heck did I get myself into. Is this just a first year feeling or will it be like this all the time.
  9. I feel your pain! I worked yesterday with 6-7 pts while another nurse had one! Yes one pt! We are always understaffed. Just last week I had two pts getting blood back to back plus they were trying to give me a new admit (plus no aide). I am so frustrated with nursing and wish I'd followed my heart and applied for the ER instead of a M/S floor! I'm discouraged wth nursing and I'm hoping something better comes open soon. Hang in there friend! Hugs!
  10. New nurse here literally about 7 months. Being a student and then an actual RN is a whole different world. I'm on a med surg floor and sister let me tell you I despise it. No resources, lateral violence, and constant HCAPS singing. Has my attitude changed? Yes greatly! It's hard caring for 6-7 pts that all want something and you only have one aide. The acuity of floor patients varies greatly. You may have 2-3 total cares plus more that need 2 people max assist. Be thankful you're still in school because once you get out talk about a total shocker!
  11. Happens twice a pay period for me needless to say my eyes are open.
  12. That would be a negative from me. When I clock out I'm glad to be home and to be gone.
  13. I've put into to transfer to another location that's more up todate etc. but is within the hub of the network.
  14. Hello! New grad here.... I've been licensed since Jan 17. I've been on a Med Surg floor and absolutely can't stand it. The short staffing on a constant daily basis, multiple total care patients, makes me not wanna go in. I floated to ICU and the ER and loved it. Critical thinking really kicked in on those areas (and it does in Med Surg too) I listened to everyone say med Surg for a new grad so I went, but it's not for me. Anyone else have this problem?
  15. Good luck to you! I am glad things are working out in your life! ((hugs))
  16. My abuse is by the mouth and ways of the ex-husband. It still haunts me daily and I've improved some but there are days when it comes back like a tsunami wave. Days when clinical's go horrible I can hear in my mind stupid, idiot, fat a$$, all the lovely things that made him feel like a big man and me like the rug at the front door. I am only in my first semester but the past couple of days I have just been letting those words own me. I've made an appt to see my dr about possible antidepressant meds or something to help with it, but I don't wanna feel drugged. I keep telling myself I can do this and maybe after I get through this first semester the snide remarks that haunt me will go away for a while. No one should ever have to suffer and be called names and put down by others. I don't care if they are 800lbs with yellow and orange stripes. In my opinion verbal abuse is the hardest abuse to overcome; aside from the physical they may enforce on you at the same time. Whomever said sticks and stones by break by bones but words will never hurt me needs to be evaluated. I am so sorry for everyone that has had to go through it! (((hugs))) To the ones that are thriving keep setting a good example for the me and whomever else that may need it!
  17. No it is not school related at all.
  18. How many nursing students past and present were victims of verbal abuse? You do not need to go into details, but I just wanted to know if this played into your feelings of if you would succeed. I was a victim of verbal abuse, and I find myself still struggling with the constant questions and doubts of if I will succeed and am I smart enough. Please tell me how you over come this or does it just take time to stop doubting yourself? I know I should not doubt myself. I mean after all I am in nursing school. I would not have been accepted if I was not competent enough right? Thanks in advance for your replies!
  19. Ok thanks. Like the pic btw lol
  20. Soooo question. What should I expect for my first pharm exam. This exam is covering drugs where as the last one was kind of the history of pharm etc. Any comments would be helpful! Thanks in advance! :)
  21. That occurred to me as I was driving down the road lol. I was so mad at myself for not using my "noggin" and getting spazzed out. Thanks
  22. Hi all! I need some insight on a question that I thought I answered correctly. What is an important nursing assess for a patient receiving O2 via nasal canula? Select all that apply. Assess for skin breakdown behind ears. (Y) Determine if patient is mouth breather (Y) Inspect bag to make sure it is fully inflated (N) Monitor for dry oral mucosa. (N) Restrict fluids to 1000ml/day (N). I looked through my text book Fundamentals 8th edition to verify my answers. Did I miss something here? The only mucosa that was mention was nasal and how it could dry out. GAH this makes me feel like a minuscule ant lol Any input is greatly appreciated!
