GrnTea: I respectfully understand you don't agree with my post but please don't assume anything about me or my family when trying to disagree with me.

The NCLEX is minimum competency… so I agree… 3 strikes and you're out sounds fair. But when I think about all of the time and money I put into surviving nursing school, I find peace with the idea that all survivors should have the opportunity to take the test until they pass.

I too have a B.S. in Sociology and after working 7 years in the field, decided to grow into nursing… Nurses are not born… they are developed.

As a new grad nurse, I have really enjoyed all the thoughts/information addressed on this thread. Hands down… best thread by far. :)

Congrats on having multiple offers… it doesn't happen to all of us. My advice would be to discuss this with your family. I think it would be great for you to pursue your dream job but you will need family support.

Are you depressed because we are unfamiliar with your working environment or because of the nurses you are working with? Having a BSN is a major accomplishment, and I in no way want to dilute your efforts, but maybe what you are experiencing stems from adjusting to a new working environment, not your credentials. Orientation is a period of grace to learn, ask questions and grow as a nurse. Don't waste it. It's humbling. I know because I too am a new nurse.

I have good news to share… They called … and I said yes!!! I'm an RN in a hospital!!!! :) Hope you too have good news to share. Please keep us posted.

I am in the same position. I have interviewed with HR, the unit manager, peer group interview, and a phone interview. Waiting patiently… it's tough. I want the position so bad, I have stop applying to other positions. I guess the wait is important because it teaches us to value to position for which we are applying.

I am a new grad RN and I currently work in home health. I've seen this in practice and I was shocked. What shocked me more so was that the parents of the PDN patient were aware and allowed such things to happen. The relationship the families have with their nurses definitely cross professional lines. Families have lied to me to protect their nurse.

I'm a New Grad RN and I am currently working in home healthcare. I have applied for many nursing jobs, and have been given offers in LTC but my desire is to establish my nursing career in a hospital setting. I recently interviewed for an RN position on a Med/Surg Tele floor. I am very excited and it's my first choice. My only concern is that the hospital is located about 45 mins from my home and will be about a 2 hour commute when traffic is factored in. I recently was called for an interview for a Nurse Clinician II position in the ER by a hospital that is 15 mins from my home. I understand that travel time will have to be a decision I ultimately make, but I am very much concerned by the job title. What is the difference between an RN and a Nurse Clinician II? They both require an RN license. Any information you can share will be gratefully received.
