Hi thank you so much for posting this is exactly what I have been looking for. I've been debating for the past how many years on whether or not to go the msn/mba route or msn np and have finally decided that the leadership administrative route is the best place for me. What I'm worried about is if I would be able to get accepted. If you don't mind me asking a little bit about your background? Did you previously have any supervisory positions? I want to be able to apply and hopefully get in for the fall 2018 term and am willing to get any certifications or experiences that would boosts my chances. I have my bsn and ccrn with 3 years of critical care experience am currently working as a disaster response nurse. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I'm a new nurse working in sicu/micu. I been working in my unit for close to a year and have learned so much and I am still continuing to build my knowledge and skills. My question is is it forbidden or not advised to draw morning labs while the patient is undergoing dialysis? My patient had a time cardiac study that had to be done at that specific time and also had a schedule cbc and cmp so blood was collected by the phlebotomist at the same time. I got a call later that the potassium was critically low and informed the doctor who then in turn told me in a very rude way that I shouldn't be drawing labs while the patient is undergoing dialysis. I honestly never knew this. Does it really affect the lab results for everything like CFCs? Or just for cmp?

Im a new grad in an icu and have never heard of this? its hard enough trying to keep track of the bazillion things you gotta document plus you gotta turn in a personal journal?? O_O

Right? I have also stopped applying for other places as well. There's another hospital that called me up wanting me to come in for an interview I guess I'll do it since I haven't gotten an official offer yet.

Hi everyone! I understand this has been posted about a million times so I apologize in advance for being repetitive. I had an interview around 2 weeks ago and was told by the director already that I pretty much got the position and to wait for HR to contact me with the final job offer. That was last week on Friday. My question is how long should I wait till it's appropriate to contact HR for a follow up? Also what exactly should I say? I'm just worried because the next orientation starts next week Thanks!

If you go far away from the major cities it's easier to find a job. I got my license in december and started applying for jobs in janurary and already got two calls for an interview and i live out if state. I just went online and applied.

I've been extremely blessed this year to have all my goals and dreams accomplished. I'm looking forward to 2015 and welcoming it with an open heart and mind. I truely believe that with hard work, determination and faith anything is possible. Will be using some of the suggestions posted on here. Have a happy and blessed new year everyone!

Hello everyone! I just passed the nclex last friday and am now starting to write my resume. I've been scrolling down and reading many of the posts concerning new grad rn resumes and cover letters, so I'm kinda getting the gist of it. From the research I've been doing, I noticed that many are simple stating the hospital where their clinical's were held and the specific departments and leaving out descriptions of their tasks. My question is since I graduated outside the country is it still necessary for me to specify the hospital where i had my clinical's? Or can I just place the different areas and the number of hours? Also I have no experience in the medical field but I did work for 3 years in the hospitality industry before moving out of the country to pursue my nursing degree full time. Should that even be included it has been four years since my last job. I do understand the importance of making sure that the resume is straight to the point and condensed so that only important highlights are specified. Any advice would be amazing. If there is someone out there in a similar situation and can present to me how they were able to create their new grad resume I would be extremely grateful. Thank you!

Just like many others on here I can not stress to you how much this site has helped through out the nclex journey. I made a promise to pay it forward and contribute my knowledge and experience through this whole process. The passed 6 months has been very stressful to say the least. A little background about me I was born and raised in California but attended college in the Philippines. It was actually from the website around 2 years ago that i found out about the whole concurrency issue happening in California so I mad sure to do some research and keep myself updated. It did hurt to know that I wouldn't be able to work in my home state but having lived in Texas as well It wasN't hard for me to make the decision to just move back to Texas and just have my family relocate with me! Once that was settled I started to look up all the steps required for me to apply. Thank god I found some very informative threads here! The follow are the steps I did for the application process. 1. Applied with ERES and had my school send in my TOR this took around 8 weeks. When it is approved they'll email you and inform you that they have forwarded the info to whichever BON you are applying for. 2. I sent in my application to the tx bon. There website has a tab where you can search the status of your application. So you can keep track of everything you need to complete and see exactly when those requirements were received. 3. Applied to get my fingerprints This took me two months cuz i had to do it the old fashion way and it kept getting rejected so i had to do the name search. That alone took one month. 4. I did the nursing jurisprudence test thats required by the tx bon 5. Registered with pearson vue 6. Waited for my att the scheduled for the closest date which was dec 10 what i did to prepare: 1. Kaplan i enrolled to the whole course. Their questions are really challenging but thats what really helped me. Their videos were boring though. Qbank score 63% qtrainers qt1 72, qt2 68 qt3 63 qt4 56 qt5 67 qt6 71 qt7 67 2. Saunders nclex reviewer 6th edition 3. Kaplan basic book and course content book 4. Exam cram 5. Quizlet 6. Youtube for procedures 7. 35 page study guide i stuidied for 5 months for 5-6 hours for 5 days and took the weekends off to relax my mind so i wouldnt get overwhelmed. Two days prior i stopped studying and relaxed my mind and eased my tension my watching funny movies. The day of the test i was feeling great till it stopped at 75 then i started to break down and cry. Over 50% of my test was sata some came right after the other i got a bunch of drag and drop some meds and one calculation. After 24 hours i did the pvt trick and got the good pop that was the first time i smiled after 24 hours haha. The next day i paid for the quick results and found out that i passed! I really am thankful to my family and friends for the support
