  1. Wow I am sorry to hear that. Good luck and I hope it all goes well :)
  2. My school had Kaplan built into the tuition. I think it taught me a lot of strategies, which could help you narrow down answers faster so you don't run out of time. If you fail they also will give you money back. I highly recommend Kaplan!
  3. Thanks for the encouragement!! Around 22-23 hours after the exam I went to my PA BON license checklist website and my license went from 'pending' to 'active' with a license number. Did not have to pay for quick results. I am SO excited!!!
  4. I'm an absolute nervous wreck! I think I failed. Test shut off at 85 questions. I prepared with Kaplan and did almost the entire qbank with remediation. I also used the study guide floating around here. I just tried PVT even though I need to wait; used my credit card and changed the expiration date, clicked submit and I got the good POp up. Any words of encouragement are appreciated cause I thought the test was very difficult! The questions are a blur to me now.
  5. Thanks for all the encouragement. I also used Kaplan and this makes me feel very good as I am testing tomorrow. Congrats!
  6. I also moved my date up. First I was scheduled the 25th and then changed to the 18th but it was out of state and I was going to stay in a hotel. Now I moved it again because another date opened up closer by so I will be taking it the 17th!! :) I have also been studying using Kaplan and I think it has prepared me well. Good luck :)
  7. Thanks for all the encouragement and congrats! I'm testing this week and my school also enrolled us in Kaplan (last week). I though it was a HUGE help. @nightflower the course is a lot of strategies to teach you what to do if you forget a lab value or a med. I think that was a huge help because you aren't going to remember everything and have to rely on strategies to get you through. They don't review much content in the course but they offer enough content review in the online materials. Good luck :)
  8. My class had the Kaplan course built into tuition. Our teacher for the course said you should aim for 60% on the cumulative QBANK score so I would say you are in good shape there! The lady also recommended doing 90% of the QBANK with remediation. I'm about to test this week too so I have been going through the qbank. good luck :)
  9. Here's my update!! Hope I don't jinx anything 4/16 sent in application/ paid fees 5/27 graduated and school sent grad verification (PA BON and from a PA school) 6/12 ATT (seemed like they were sent completely randomly because some of my classmates who put in applications a few weeks ago were sent ATT before me and I paid over a month ago) 6/16 interview for nurse residency 6/18 (because I'm crazy!) nclex
  10. I'm not sure how many people apply to the program but your best bet is to apply as soon as you can so the spots don't fill up. I know a lot of people were still finishing up pre-reqs while they were applying. They just need to be finished by the time you begin in May.
  11. Definitely try to be a CNA. I know that around me, you are already eligible for some jobs at hospitals just by having one clinical rotation done, so you don't even need the certification. You can also look for positions called nurse externships. While you are at clinical, you should definitely try to make relationships and be helpful to the nurses. Networking with other nurses is extremely valuable.
  12. Thanks!@friendlyelse I actually called them today and they said to just keep waiting. I graduated 5/27 and the school sent verification that day to the BON that I graduated. From that point, it can take 10-14 days to get ATT. I have been refreshing my email like crazy hoping that it comes asap!
  13. I am curious to know too! Which state did you take your boards in? I am taking them in PA. It's a relief to me to see you were able to schedule your test so quickly because I want to have a test date before July (hopefully!!) Here's where I am at: 4/16 paid BON and submitted application 5/27 graduated and school sent graduation verification Now I am waiting/ constantly refreshing my email for ATT!
  14. I go to Thomas Jefferson University (12 month 'FACT' program, but there's also a 2 year bsn program for second degree). Jefferson has its own neuroscience hospital, so we did a neuro clinical rotation. I think most people were placed at the neuro hospital but other people were on neuro floors at the main hospital. Some people also got rotations at the rehab hospital nearby. The clinical was only 2 weeks, so we didn't get to see everything but it was my favorite rotation. Not every school gets a neuro rotation though. I love the Jeff program and highly recommend it. If you have any questions though just inbox me!
  15. I am going to graduate in may and would love to work at my school's hospital. I have had a few clinical instructors who work at this hospital on units that I would be interested in working at. I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to show a particular former instructor that I am very interested in working on that unit. Also, if anyone has advice on how to further network to get your resume passed to a nurse manager. Thank you
  16. Also if you are interested in neuro nursing, we have a neuro rotation at the jeff neuro hospital. I heard from instructors that not every school offers this rotation. (IT WAS SO COOL)
  17. I think you need a 65 but I haven't heard anyone worrying about it and we are taking in 2 months. It isn't made to be a big deal like the Drexel exam is. All our tests are in NCLEX format (multiple choice/ select all that apply) so they really teach you so that you can pass Kaplan and NCLEX. But the Kaplan tests that we take throughout the year are not easy!! I LOVE the program. I am very happy I did the 12 month since it goes by so fast, but you learn a lot. The clinical instructors that I have had are all great nurses who train you well. A few of the teachers aren't that great but you can get through it because there are a lot of other good ones. My biggest advice for anyone thinking about doing the program is to make it your #1 priority because you have to study a lot. In the end it is worth it. I got a small scholarship, but talking with other people in the program, it looks like they gave a bunch of people the same amount. I think I got a letter about it a few weeks after my official acceptance. I don't know much about financial aid but I don't think they offer much because it is a 2nd degree program (but that's the same anywhere). If you call financial aid they are pretty helpful though.
  18. TJU doesn't use HESI. We do Kaplan prep tests throughout the year for 5% or 10% of our grade in some classes. Then we do a final Kaplan test at the end of the year that you do have to pass. You get a lot of prep before the test to help you pass.
  19. I'm in FACT and I have really enjoyed it. The program is fast so you have to make it your top commitment for the year. They give us our schedules at the last minute sometimes, so you have to be flexible. I chose FACT because I had a previous degree with some science/ health classes. I also wanted to get the BSN as fast as I could because I knew I was a hardworking student and I could manage. Some people extern during the program but it isn't recommended. Our schedules change a lot as we go through rotations. So, if you are interested in working during the program I would recommend APW. If you want to get your BSN done fast then FACT is the way to go.
