why do nurses discourage nursing students?
some of my clinical/classroom instructors mentioned something of the like during the first day of each semester. "they don't want to be nurses... they want a paycheck. can you blame them? 2 year (minimum) in return for a somewhat stable career with decent pay. decent enough for a modest lifestyle. patient CARE... ha!"

Making the leap
the majority of females in my cohort had the support of their husbands (they didn't have to work), their family, (no babysitters), etc... all they did was attend school and some barely scraped by. i'm not bright, but my school had a minimum of a 3.6 GPA to enroll. it's not hard, but you need to devote TIME. i emphasize time.

Did anything really help you pass nclex?
I passed in 75. Definitely needed a refresher but I didn't want to spend an absurd amount of money for. I did the 3 week NCSBN for questions and I found a 90+ page study guide on youtube for $30.00. I think it's up to $50.00 now. All I did was read a couple of pages and did questions daily. After all the questions and going through that study guide 3 times, I passed. Everybody has their own method/reviews. Good luck!
