Did you disclose your Plans for CRNA school
So glad I did not work in this type of environment. From the beginning I told my manager I wanted to go to CRNA school when he hired me as a new grad.Everyone for the most part new that going to CRNA school was going to be my ultimate goal (My hospital actually has a CRNA program where at least 2 nurses get admitted too every year). There were those old nurses that sated "You need at least 5 years of ICU exp. before going" or "CRNA is too boring why would anyone want to do it". Will my advice is to be the best possible nurse that you can be! Help out with all admits, get your certs, be involved in your units politics. In my short 2.5 years of working ICU I was the charge nurse, precepted students and nurses, and became the full time rapid response nurse for my hospital. I recently had my last day of work and will be starting CRNA school next week. All of my coworkers could not be more happy for me. Don't hide your ambitions! Embrace it and own it!

TWU CRNA 2019
Good stats! I am sure you will receive a invite to interview. The interview is what will gain you acceptance to the program so make sure to stand out. FYI, I believe you need to take a chem & algebra class before beginning. Good luck í ½í¹‚

Shadowing a CRNA
You can contact local county hospitals and get transferred to education dept. From there just stat that you want to shadow a CRNA. Most county hospitals in CA are major academic teaching facilities. So they might be able to accommodat you even though you are not affiliated with the hospital. Thats how I got my date

Path to CRNA/ ICU, please help!
Hey hows it going brotha... Coming from someone who had the same path as you I'd say some back home and apply at county hospitals. They usually are teaching centers and pay less so they depend on nursing going for their first year and then bouncing out to better paying facilities (Private/KP) but try that route. I actually volunteered at my hospital, got hired in the ICU 2 days in I actually fitted in with everyone, and will be starting CRNA school this August at the same facility. PM if you need some advice on the applying process. Its going to be just as bad as applying to nursing school lol

10 things that got me accepted to CRNA school
I work in a MICU so I had to study a little longer with the CMC exam. I feel as it was way more difficult then the CCRN as it dove in deep with the knowledge you needed to answer questions regarding PAWP readings and IABP ratio questions. The review which they have on the AACN is a excellent resource to study for the exam. Good luck (:

What are my chances of getting in?
Well said brotha. I was not as competitive as many of the other nurses stats which I have read on allnurses (GPA 3.2, BSN=3.4, 1.5 yrs exp) but what I did excel in was participating in leadership roles on the unit. I was chair of the Unit Practice Council, participated in the code blue/rapid assessment & patient safety committees. It is all about how well rounded of a nurse you are and the drive which you have.

TWU distance learning option
So I will be in the cohort which starts this year but from what I know from my colleagues who have recently finished the program and those who are currently in the program, it is intense. If you are choosing the distance portion you will be required to attend the university at the start of the first 2 semesters for 2 weeks. This time will be used for orientation, meet and greets with professors, and be used for time in the simulation lab. The semester usually runs Mon, Wed, Fri and students are required to be present at the distance learning location during the duration of lecture. I believe students need at least a B- to move on to the next portion of the program. Hope this gave you a little bit of insight brotha.
