Capital Community College 2015 Accepted Students
Hi Crista! Congrats on getting in we will be seeing each other in the fall! Is it possible to private message somehow so we could actually get to know each other better? I'm also curious about the books we need for NUR 101. On commnet, it states that we only need one medication dosage book, but it seems to me that there should be more, maybe someone on here could clarify that for me. Lot's of luck, this is exciting!

CT-CCNP 2015 applicants
I have A's in all my prerequisite courses but I still feel pretty nervous about the fact that there are usually a lot of applicants to compete against.

I scored a 75.3 on the teas. I've been told it's a pretty good competitive score, but I guess only time will tell..

I feel your pain! I'm pretty sure though that if you are accepted, you will defiantly have a spot in NUR 101. Hopefully we should be hearing something within the next few week--I read somewhere that the last class found out after Easter sometime.

NYC and Buffalo RN pay
Buffalo has a much lower cost of living than NYC. You could live very comfortably making around $30 an hour there compared to $42 in New York. Buffalo also has a lot of new medical development going on in the city right now with the construction of new hospitals and the expansion of the University of Buffalo's medical campus. The city itself is also very much on the upswing, great summers, lots of winter sports, beautiful waterfront and if you have kids it's very family friendly--plus Wegmans is there, best grocery store ever! I live in CT and would move back in a heartbeat if I was in the position.

Upstate Jobs
Buffalo New York has a large and rapidly growing medical corridor in the heart of the city. Check out Buffalo General, Gates Vascular Institute and the soon to be built new Women's and Children's Hospital. Great city with a lot of new development going on--low cost of living, friendly people, good food and nightlife. Check out the popular Elmwood village or the new canal side along Lake Erie. I currently live in Connecticut and wish I could move back Rochester is another good city, Strong Memorial or Rochester General are popular hospitals.

My dream is to become an O.R. nurse
I am not advertising myself as having nursing experience in the OR; however, working in a surgical environment at a major hospital for close to 10 years, I believe, is a form of job experience in itself. I apologize if my statement wasn't clear--of course I realize that there is always an orientation period in a new role and I would gladly welcome the opportunity.
