Employer not Informing Employees when Someone has Covid
I had a question. My employer at an outpatient surgery center discovered an employee that had covid. There was not contact tracing involved after she was sent home (she's been sick and out for 2 weeks now). I have inquired and management says they can't say anything because of HIPAA, but shouldn't my employer inform us that we've been exposed to covid??? There hasn't been one word. Is this legal? Shouldn't they HAVE to tell us?? Not one word that I've been working next to someone with covid. The only reason I know she has covid is because I know her friends outside of work and they told me. Am I crazy or is it immoral at the very least not to inform us. I think they are keeping is hushed because if they let everyone know they would have to shut down and test everyone.

New Grad looking to get into endoscopy and operating Room
I'm finding it difficult to find hospitals that would be willing to hire new graduate nurses into the OR, so I need some advice. Would becoming an endoscopy nurse instead help my chances of getting into the OR in the future and count as sufficient experience?

New Grad in the OR
Glad to hear I'm not the only one haha. I'm going to try to get into residencies for OR nursing, but I've heard they are very competitive so I'm wondering if there's anything else. Do you know of anything?

New Grad Looking to get into the OR
I appreciate the response. I agree that residencies would provide the best learning and training experience, so I will continue looking for those. I'm going to try and get into a residency, but am also looking at new grad positions in the OR that offer 6 months or more of training where you follow a preceptor and learn on the job. What are your thoughts on these lengthy training positions for new grads in the OR (as an alternative to a residency program)?

New Grad in the OR
Hey everyone! I'm a new grad looking to get into the OR right away and was wondering if you had any tips. I understand it is difficult as a new grad to get into this speciality right off the bat, but I know it's my true passion and will do anything to get in. Besides residencies and OR training programs, are there any other ways to get in? I heard maybe shooting for pre or post op for a year or two could be a loop hole in to the OR, but would love to hear any recommendations.

Question about continuing education hours as a nursing student:
Hey everyone, I'm a current nursing student set to graduate in 7 months. I want to enter the OR right away as a new grad and am looking for anything that can boost my resume/get me more qualified and educated to be an OR nurse. I plan on taking a periop101 course, but I was wondering if completing mini courses through "continuing education contact hours" will be beneficial to me. Will this benefit me and be appealing to hospitals/facilities? Thank You, Jason Mitchell

Advice on Dropping Pharm??
We got our first assignment a week ago and were on our 3rd week of class out of a 14 week semester. I'll check the policy and see if it's even a possibility because I'm already 2 weeks behind..

Advice on Dropping Pharm??
Hey everyone. I hate that I am posting this, but I am in an accelerated 15 month BSN program and just started my second block. I have pharmacology 1, adult health 1, psych, OB, and evidence based practice. My pharm teacher accepted a new job so we are having our first pharm test tomorrow when we haven't had a real class yet with the new teacher (no syllabus and relying completely on ATI to learn the material). I am not prepared for it even though I studied all week and I am realizing how difficult it will be to catch up and pass this class. My question is: would it be worth dropping this class and taking it next semester alone? I feel like I'll learn more in my other classes this semester and also learn more in pharm next semester. It would only add on 3.5 months to my program. Any suggestions? Does my reasoning make any sense? Thanks!

New Grad Looking for OR Job/Training Program
Hey Sandra, thanks for the information! Would you mind telling me what facility hires these RN's without experience? I'm just trying to find out more information about possible programs I can look in to.

New Grad Looking for OR Job/Training Program
Hey thanks for the information. If you don't mind me asking; what hospital/facility hired you? I won't necessarily apply to the same place, but I just want to find more information on what facilities have to offer in general regarding OR programs. Also, did you have a very impressive resume or great interview to get into the program? I know many nurses, doctors, and surgeons practicing today so I feel like i have a pretty solid network I can refer to for job openings, but I'm just trying to find out how realistic it is that I can get in. I replied to someone else, but I would be 100% willing to take a decreased paycheck as well as signing a contract if that means I can get into the OR right away post-graduation.Thanks again!
