  1. Thanks so much for your prompt response!!! Also did you pay the entire $895 for enrollment, or were you allowed to make a partial payment in order to enroll? If so ( if you don't mind me asking) how much did you have to pay
  2. Question, I just found out about the Oct 1st deadline, I just sent my application overnight FedEx, so they should have it Monday, how long did it take for you guys to be accepted? My hope is to be accepted ASAP and Enroll right after to make the October 1st deadline, my A&P and Micro just hit the over 5 yr mark
  3. Thanks for posting this, I'm also in Michigan. I looked into ISU last year and there very few sites in Michigan, the only 2 I saw were in Grand Rapids area. I'm actively, looking into the ISU program again, I took a break from school because it was overwhelming. So I will either look into Michigan sites or Ohio sites. Good luck!
  4. Hi all, I haven't been on here in ages!! I graduated as a LPN in December 2010, became licensed in March 2011, and finally getting ready for the next step Excelsior. I've been paying off a community college that I attended 3 yrs ago so that I could get my transcripts. I will send them their final payment this coming Wednesday. After that I will apply to Excelsior. I have taken majority of the pre-reqs at community college, so I'm hoping all I have left are nursing courses. I spoke with a rep last week who informed me about the October 2012 deadline for 5yr limit on sciences. There's no way I'm those again, they are 5 yrs old as of this past winter. I researched EC throughout the years and learned tons of info here. Now I'm finally going to be a student! Yayy so excited!!
  5. Hi Cindarent, what books did you use in place of TCN guides. I have an appointment with a TCN rep next Wednesday and don't want to sign up with them if I can find the books elsewhere. Also I have about 10 classes already done, I only need to Clep out of two clases and take the 4 entrance exams before I start phase 2. Do you think that there were alot of hoops to jump through to get started with this program? I would like to start this coming fall
  6. I'm also intrested, just finished my LPN program and ready to start on my RN, any info on Monroe's program is greatly appreciated
  7. I currently attend PSI and it is great!! Has a very high reputation, and is one of the only schools that many hospital will hire LPNs from. I will be done in december and it's great, very very hard but great! Teachers are really hands on and very approachable, their goal is to make best nurses possible. They take pride in their high reputation. TSPN reputation not so good, look on ohio nursing state board website, they are getting ready to lose accredidation. I aslo live in Michigan, the travel is ok, if you get into a carpool its even better, that should be no problem over half of the students here are Michigan. Good luck!!
  8. Hi there are u by chance going to PSI? I also start Jan 4

Ok, well as far as I know we have to pass Foundations Lab and Lecture to move onto clinicals, and the days are random. It depends when the clinical sites can fit us in, so they don't tell us a set date up front. We may have evenings or Saturday clinicals, it's all up in the air until a few weeks before we actually start clinicals. Where are you from in Michigan? Maybe we can get a car pool going. I'm from Pontiac. I will actually be there towards the end of the day during orientation, because I already attended, I have to come towards the end to resign my enrollment form, get fitted for uniforms and take my ID pic. So maybe I'll see you there:yeah:

Well class times are from 8-4pm m-fri. I attended orientation in september, so all i have to do is come back on dec 15 to get refitted for uniforms and re-enroll in classes. As far as clinicals they didnt really say how the times work out, but we wont do clinicals until the last 3 weeks of each quarter, we have to pass foundations lecture and lab before we can go on to clinicals. My name is Stacie btw, we'll be in classes together. I'm from Michigan, are u an ohio or michigan resident? Anymore questions feel free to PM or email me, using the links above (below user name).

Hello just checking if there are any PSI students out there, especially any getting ready to start Oct 5th?! That's my start date and would like to meet some of my fellow classmates before starting classes:typing:)
  14. Actually no the entrance test was really easy....you can go to atitesting.com and do the practice tests. However they're pretty much done seating the october day and evening class so I doubt you will get into that session especially if you haven't taken the test yet. My suggestion is take it now so that you can start the January session. However evening classes are only offered in OCtober. I took my test in Feb and had all my background checks and imuunizations done by march, and I didn't get in until october. So just a heads up, you're not going to get into the october, what they do is fill up the seats and if you didn't get into the first session they put you into the next one. Anymore questions please feel free to pm me
  15. Also mostly LPN's transition to their RN through this program. Even if you recieved your lpn through a vocational school rather than a college, you can still get your ADN-RN through them... Also I don't know of any places in that look at what school you went to, they look at your nursing license. Thjere are a few state nursing boards that are challenging recent excelsior grads, the two that I know of are california and georgia. Your best bet is to look under distance learning and look up excelsior
  16. Hey there Dana, Well I start Oct 5.. not sure if you've taken your test, background check etc, however I believe that the october session is full so you may have to start getting everything in order to start the january quarter. I will keep you posted on how everything goes
  17. None taken, I just hate that our city get's such a bad rap, and there are really good hard working people here. The media can be so one-sided. Many visit the area and are pleasantly suprised that the "D" is acutally pretty nice.
  18. Ok I tried to keep quiet, but for all of those that keep stating that this job is in Detroit, so it must not be too good, obviously didn't read the OP. She said the Metro-Detroit area. Which could be Detroit or the surronding suburbs. I am from Detroit an LPN student and work in a LTC facility. The area hospitals don't pay LPN's much however alot of the LTC's do. Don't be so stereotypical of an area that you may not know much about. All large cities have their good and the bad, so stating that it's "DETROIT" as though that's something that's sooo awwful and very ill-informed of those that are looking their noses down at this city, who they obiviously don't know much about. It's a very diverse dynamic city to live in and around with great people and culture.
  19. I personally haven't but I plan to go in Jan 2011. I graduate from a LPN program in Aug 2010. I have worked with two RN's that have both done lpn to rn through excelsior and they both were very satisfied. However I also worked with a lpn that was also doing excelsior and she couldn't pass her clinical portion, but she admitts that she never studied enough. There's tons of info under the Distant Learning student section...good luck!
  20. :typing Thanks so much for the reply. I'm actually in the daytime program . want to hurry and get it over with :typing. I'm so looking foward to getting this chapter of my life started and over so that I can focus on the rest. Glad you had a good experience, and hope all is well with you and your nursing career.
  21. Hey were they very helpful in obtaining funds for your tuition (financial aid, loans etc) I haven't been in for my financial aid appt yet. I go next month. Also how was the class scheduling, I start in Oct and I'm driving from Michigan so I'm trying to get myself prepared for whats ahead.
  22. Hi there, I was recently accepted into Pro Skills and will start Oct 5, I'm very excited about the program and have spoken to a few of the students who all love it there.
  23. Hey all, Congrats to all that were accepted and anxiously awaiting to start. I got my acceptance letter in the mail this Saturday. I'm so excited and scared. I'm currently 4 months pregnant with baby number two my daughter is 6. I've spoken to my doctor about enducing me one week early to cooincide with my 1 week break we have from school. I'm so nervous about having a new baby and going to school, to top if off I have to drive 1 hour back and forth the school. Please pray for me, this is going to be a doozy.. However I'm not discouraged I'm more determined than ever. I've been done with my RN prereqs for a year and haven't been able to get into a school here in Michigan with a 3.7 gpa so I'm attending PSI in Toledo OH. I start July 6!!!! Good luck to everyone.
  24. Wow this thread is so encouraging, I plan on going thru a LPN program Fall 09 and was looking for alternatives for RN. Thanks to all who have given their input and knowledge of EC.
