  1. Hands down agree @RunBabyRN
  2. Sounds like a crappy HR department and like others said, I wouldn't want to work anywhere like that. If they pull SS records and IRS records they would see your previous place of employment regardless if you filed taxes or not. My boyfriend used to work for a company ( not health care) and they rejected one of the applicants because the applicant wrote down the wrong dates of previous employment! It happens but I would steer clear of that employer.
  3. Thanks SV I'm looking at all hospitals nationwide but I'll google the one you mentioned.
  4. what worked for you, may not be working for others. I am glad you are happy with your RN position at SNF.
  5. Good for you. Everyone has different journey and different goals
  6. There are no non or hospital RN positions anywhere that I am eligible. Everywhere it's one year experience at least.
  7. I moved to Cali from Hawaii and had to take a job as an LVN. I have BSN degree, passed Nclex in October from first try and have gotten zero responses from any new grad programs here in California. California as other states will not offer you an RN position UNLESS you have a year of RN experience. If you are a new grad, they will prefer you have a BSN. If you don't have a BSN and have to move to cali I would honestly apply to nursing homes and either get your BSN and apply to new grad programs or hold your breath and work as an LVN or an aid.
  8. wow that's really messed up that they said that! I applied and have not heard one thing. I also did not graduate from California and have Hawaii license still ( they have not responded with transfer of license either!)
  9. Sorry to hear that SamanthaKelly, stay positive and work hard. I'm happy to work as an LVN right now! Majority of my graduating class are working as RNs or CNAs nation wide. I don't think luck has anything to do with it.
  10. Thanks Meriwhen~ I have an offer ( started training) for an LVN position at a nursing facility so I decided to go with it and apply to warm states including everywhere in Cali. Give it a bit of time and see who responds and what happens. I did get some calls from indeed.com ( posted resume there) to work in correction facility but they wanted a year experience.
  11. Meriwhen, what is your suggestion? I applied to a handfull of RN residency here in Cali and heard nothing from any of them. I also started applied to Florida ( applied to 3 last week). Thanks!
  12. Yes, I was asking you, Umad. Did you interview already for other states? Have you applied to a lot of new grad programs? I am sure there are more opportunities in other less desirable states but San Diego is already way too cold for me so my other option, if I don't land an RN position here, is to move to the gulf somewhere warmer. I am training as an LVN right now ( next week actually) at a nursing facility.
  13. Saw that, thanks and applied. Are you looking for work in Socal also?
  14. No no, I am already in California. there is no way of gaining experience in Hawaii. They take only RNs with a year experience and you have to work as a CNA for at least a year. I am taking an LVN position here at a facility (assisted living) and in the meantime will be applying to new grad programs. There is no place in this country that it will be easy to get into unless it's a middle of nowhere state. Hawaii is very saturated. Many RNs work as CNAs for years in Hawaii
  15. BriManRN... where did you work if you don't mind me asking before you entered as an RN in the hospital? I have an offer to work as LVN here in SoCal at a nursing/assisted living facility. Any thoughts if this is a right track to get experience and get in at a hospital further on? thanks!
  16. Aloha.. hello to all! Well the Nclex is over and I finally got my HI license number ( going through endorsement to CA license now). Does anyone have a list or can point me in the right direction in regards to new grad programs here? I am obviously applying to nursing homes and for tech jobs as well but I am not from here and I know literally 2 people here so I am hoping to get a bit of advice what hospitals I should be looking at. I have looked at Scripps and their program is closed for winter. Sharp has nothing posted. Palomar has nothing posted. I even looked as far as going north of SD. The road is open as long as I am somewhere in So cal. Tri city doesn't have new grad programs. UCSD is off limits from what I understand they prefer local students only. Any advice with dates would be helpful! Mahalos!
  17. I passed with 89 questions!
  18. How long ago did you take your test? Don't you know you can do Quick results?
  19. Really, hopefullapass? How did you find out so quickly? Also, that trick doesn't really work according to a lot of people so I wouldn't rely on it. I know the results for most states arent available until 48hrs post exam.
  20. it's crazy how many SATA i had I didn't have time to count them obviously I was super focused. I took me a long time to get to 89 questions so I was surprised they didn't cut me off sooner. I have a bad feeling about this though.
  21. According to my Kaplan instructor the pop up trick no longer works. I am sure you did well.
  22. shut off at 89 questions. I am pretty sure I failed. All my questions were SATA and meds I had no clue what they were. I had a few easy ones and some I surely answered wrong because I started losing it after 75 questions.
  23. good luck fusionfire32~!!
  24. Ugh so exam is tomorrow morning and I just finished my last qt. Not feeling too confident with my scores but I am just going to go for it. I feel very week on meds still and unsure but I just keep using Kaplan strategy and hope it will work for me tomorrow. Here are all my scores so far: Diagnostic 52 QT1 57 QT2 59 QT3 52 QT4 53.3 QT5 59 QT6 51 QT7 55 Readiness 62.2 Q BANK 60 at 100% complete
