  1. ugh. so unfortunately I guess im not alone. my sisters a nurse in CA and makes really good money, and shes in peds which I would absolutely love. I know its more expensive there but its almost as bad in nj. and I could be making almost 2x what id get here or anywhere on the east coast!
  2. Hi all, so I'm a fairly new nurse, i have been doing home care for 7 months in NJ and I just had an interview with a LTC in my area. The pay is astounding . Im sure I'm preaching to the choir but i just feel like I worked my butt off in nursing school and I'm not sure about this anymore. I can't find anywhere that pays more that 25 an hour. Is this typical? I want to do nursing, specifically peds, maternity or l&d. I have no doubt about that. And I get that you have to start at the bottom. Trust me LTC is not my idea of fun but I'll start anywhere...But considering I have no kids and nothing keeping me in Jersey, I'm wondering if there's any other states that are cheaper cost of living and pay a little more. Nj is expensive and I Litterally can't live on the nurses salary here! Anyone who can tell me salaries and if they know who's hiring RNs who dont have BSN yet, it's much appreciated!!
  3. Hi all, i failed my nclex the first time, im retaking on oct 25 but i am having doubts....not only about the test but about being a nurse at all....and its terrifying me. Nursing is all i ever imagined myself doing, but im concerned im not cut out for it. Every Timetime i think about being responsible for a life, i get really bad anxiety. Im sure a lot of it is lack of confidence after failing the nclex. But i did good all through nursing school and i still had anxiety about lives being in my hands. Ive caught.myself making stupid.mistakes and it scares me to death. Ive always had a horrible memory, even before nursing school and it gets worse when i am nervous, of course. Im beginning to wonder if i want to do this anymore. Do i have any other options within the medical field? I dont want my education to go to waste. Im still going to try to pass the nclex this time but i dont know where i want to go from there . Help!
