First Nursing School Test-Failed...
Welcome to nursing school! Not being funny, but I have been there! Be sure to check your book against what you answered. They are human and sometimes the book reading contradicts the the test answer. If you show it to them they may give credit. Also, remember your abc's when answering a question. Hang in there, it doesn't get easier, but you will get better. :)

What is supposed to be the hardest year?
In my area the first semester was the worst. That's not to say all of the others were a cake walk though!

Do you get painful menstrual cramps?
I can get a bit more crampy and general ill feeling when I am super busy and not eating properly. I have never taken days off for it though. That said, you should check with your GYN to be sure nothing is going on. If not, definitely try to change your diet and exercise as well as get plenty of sleep.

Medical supplies
I understood the question to be that the facility would pay for them and since you are a new full time nurse you are trying to find a supplier to order decent supplies from; am I correct?

Pay for parking?
I live in NC and the major hospitals here require paid parking. Even worse, some employees as well as nursing students are not allowed to park in the decks and are required to pay to park and ride at an offsite location. The bus has you to arrive 45 min before shift...if you are just a few minutes late from the house you will miss report! Oh, and while I was in nursing school we could use a deck a few blocks away for $2 an hour, that is $20 a day!! It was a mess! If you are caught in the hospital deck you are ticketed and towed! Because of that, I would never give working there a second thought!

Readmission into Nursing School Letter
If I were writing this letter I would not explain what happened last time where the children and work are concerned unless they ask for it. It makes the request long. Get straight to the point. Tell them that you were there previously, it didn't work out, but you are prepared to give it your all; if accepted again.

Career Move Advice
I wouldn't leave the current job. Nursing school is stressful, and adding a new stressor to that isn't going to help you. Although I had been a CNA for almost 10 years before going into nursing school they assessed our CNA abilities and we used them regularly when in the clinical setting. It might have benefitted you to have CNA experience before entering, but now that you are there I would roll with it, learn all that you can!

What do people think about 'older' students?
I just graduated with an ASN in May. I am 34 and at least half of my class was 30 and above. I never heard any negative things regarding age. And to take it a step further our highest class gpa was a man that was 48 and I myself graduated second in my class. I would also like to add that most of the older ones in my class were starting a second career and had our stuff together, we just wanted a change. I wouldn't let it worry me at all!

Should I quit my job?
I would absolutely get out. I worked too hard for my nursing license to lose it or get a mark on my record for something crazy. I went into this profession to take care of people. There is no way you can give proper care to that many people at one time! Do give a notice though.
