Good for you!! I quit (for the fourth time) six months ago. Little things still trigger an urge for one but it gets easier and easier! I know we do not know each other but... I am proud of you!!

Lots of people have given wonderful advice. My number one thing I tell the students I help with A&P is to set up your schedule with built in study times. That hour or so between classes? Spend it in the support centers on your campus. Support centers and free tutoring (whether it be tutoring or supplementary instruction) is so underused!! I tell everybody in all my classes, we pay tuition, we pay for these services- use them! So definitely ask the first day, what tools does my college provide for me to be successful in this course? Then use them! Good luck!

I am doing developmental psychology, A&P2, and microbiology. All have been fine, high A's. I am enjoying the semester but still cannot wait for it to be over! Don't we always just want it to be over? lol

I may have a silly question but where are you guys volunteering? I want to round out my resume and I feel like it would be really helpful for scholarship applications but I sort of feel lost on where to start. Please tell me I am not the only one....

Unfortunately, I do not believe this is a question that can be answered by us here. Communicate with your professor and find out where you stand and what you would need to do in order to achieve a grade still within your reach. I hope an A is still possible for you, good luck!

Being stressed, cramming and exhausted is only going to hurt you. Calm down. Put the stack of notecards away. Step away for a little bit. Come back and search for a resource that sheds new light on what you are not understanding. Then answer what you think the question that your professor might ask of you is. Talk out loud and think it through. Slowly. You know more than you think, I bet, but stressing this test it going to hurt you if you do not take a breath and believe you have got this!

Hello! Great questions! UCF has a really awesome web site that outlines program requirements and admission statistics so you can get an idea of where you need to be to be competitively. Though each group of applicates is different this gives you an idea of what the general make up of previous admitted classes GPA's were. If I were you I would look into their Dual Enrollment Concurrent ASN-BSN program that allows you to take your general education courses at Seminole or Valencia while taking nursing courses at UCF, it is also a fast track to earning your BSN. You will graduate with your ASN and two semesters later complete your BSN. I have heard great things about the program, though I am not in it. I take classes at Daytona State. You will be taking general education course like english 1 and 2, speech and usually a couple others like a humanities course and history course. Only the schools will be able to help you map this out specifically and it is never too early to meet with an adviser at the schools. If you do a traditional BSN program at UCF you will need A&P1, A&P2, general chemistry, microbiology, general psychology, developmental psychology, human nutrition and statistics completed as these are your pre-reqs in order to get in. (Along with taking the TEAS and completing other requirements!) Nursing school is a whole new ball game I hear but these pre-reqs are designs to push you to show you can handle nursing school! Your cumulative GPA will be all your courses you take, your pre-reqs I listed here as well as the english and others. Your pre-req GPA will be the GPA of the 8 pre-reqs I listed and your science pre-req GPA is well, the calculated GPA of the science pre-reqs (A&P, microbiology, chemistry...). This means, while you should aim for A's in all your courses, a B in english will probably not ding you as much as a B in Anatomy & Physiology in the eyes of the admission committee. I am pre-nursing student myself so I do not have any UCF program experience to relay myself or tips on how I got in but hope I have been able to help. Please get in contact with advisers at Seminole, Valencia and UCF as soon as possible so you can really understand what is expected of you. Good luck!

Instead of a spouse or child you can always point to them on yourself. Recite the names and characteristics that differentiate left from right and picture the bone or muscle in your head. I did this until I could, without notes, head-to-toe recall everything I needed to know. And during the exam I had what I used to study right with me!

I think you are being very smart! I get the "Why is it taking so long?" all the time. I do not think people mean bad by it when they point out how shouldn't it only take or 2 or 4 years but it does make you question if you are taking too long. You know what you are doing. Don't let them get to ya. Your plan, your way!

Take a deep breath. My opinion is, if it felt too much for you then you made the right and logical choice for you. I will have been in school for 2 1/2 years when I enter nursing school. I am okay with that, I know I can only handle so much each semester and it is not a sprint. Just take what you can handle each semester and try not to add more stress on by worrying about how long it is taking everybody else. I believe that you are doing a good job not taking on more than you can chew this semester, you will be fine! Focus on your A&P this semester, if you can get a good handle on studying for that class I think you will feel a lot more confident in possibly taking on more next semester.

I don't know what you mean by make your learning easier but as others have pointed out the only solid advice for this question needs to come from your adviser. Don't ever be afraid to meet with them, I meet with mine every semester and usually it starts with me saying, "Okay... tell me again like I am stupid. What do I still need to take?" I want it all spelled out for me. Even though I know what I am needing to take it is good to constantly be in touch to stay on track! Also, familiarize yourself with your prospective schools website fast. Take the time to explore it, many have sample programs, program requirements, program prereq's, application guidelines and some even update their current acceptance statistics so you can get a feel for the program's GPA trend. Start there and go see an adviser with any questions. They'll lay it all out, good luck!!

I am sorry to hear of your loss but great job on getting an A. Sounds like you definitely earned it!
