  1. I needed some good advice
  2. Don't be so busy working that you forget to make a life!
  3. It doesn't matter what area that you work in, when you change areas it is all new and scary. I work in ICU and if I had to go to Oncology I'd be a nervous wreck and wouldn't know the first thing to do. So don't settle yourself short, every area of nursing is different, there are some of the basics but they are like night and day when you switch. When I started ICU I felt like I was as dumb as a rock but I had to keep telling myself it was ok cause this is a totally new area and I learn new things every day. When you started oncology you didn't know anything about it but you learned. So keep your chin up girl it's ok, we learn something new every day and you aren't supposed to know everything
  4. I wasn't aware that it was ok to test for nicotine.....I guess I'm behind in this issue but his was the first that I've heard of this. What is it that they do to test and why? What is the reason for it?
  5. I'm sorry I guess somewhere I missed something, you graduated and passed NCLEX and you are having trouble getting a job??? I'm seriously confused. The hospital that I work at hires new grads all the time so I'm not understanding what the problem is..
  6. I guess I am confused about you saying that you can't retake the NCLEX in oklahoma again. If a refresher course is all that you need then why not do that in Oklahoma and retake the exam? I to failed the exam and I am struggling with what my next step is to be able to pass it, this is why I am asking you these questions..
  7. Yes, the program that I did was an LPN to RNBSN program. I had to pass the 5 areas of the RN NCLEX tests in order to be accepted and have my prerequisites as well. I did this and completed the classes at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. You don't have to be an RN to achieve this.:)
  8. karieb935 you have given me inspiration to take this journey to finish my career that I have worked so hard on. I too failed the nclex exam on 2 occasions and I have been discouraged and wanted to give up....actually I wanted to do more than just give up but thanks to my 2 children I continued on with the embarrassment and humiliation that I carried every single day with me that all that I worked so hard for has failed me in the end....the end being the nclex. Thank you for your inspiration cause you have given me hope that I had lost during this time of critical need...
  9. I too read into the tricks....to me it is all about how to answer questions and that is where I fail....
  10. I'm sorry but I too was one of those people thinking what resource will be perfect to help me pass the test. I know my nursing stuff since I've been in nursing for 15 years however going from an LPN to RN with the boards is completely different entirely.... The 2014 new version of RN boards isn't much about nursing care of a disease or person it's more about management of different multiple diseases and this is where I fail every time. Maybe my graduate school didn't prepare me for this or maybe I just plain and simple don't understand what the heck they are asking but I continue to look for help in answering those nclex questions. Believe me when I say that I don't have the money for prep classes but so far I've spent $600 for the dang test and now I'm stuck trying to figure out how do I answer those questions when they are a SATA questions.....
  11. I have been an LPN for 15 years and I have worked just about every area there is except OB and Peds. I recently graduated with my RNBSN but have yet been able to pass the boards, I just wanted to reply to your topic to say that I love nursing and I can't imagine doing anything else with my career. Maybe you should step outside of your box and go where your heart takes you within the area of nursing that will open up your passion that you have for the area that you want and get out of where you are at currently. There are burnt out people everywhere you go so why not be in a place that you love instead of a place that you work...go for it!
  12. OK. I've been an LPN for 15 years and I've raised 2 beautiful children but while I did this I also took classes and worked very hard to finish school. I finished my RNBSN degree and graduated in May '14 and right after this my life fell completely apart.... I lost my aunt who was like a mother to me since she has raised me off and on throughout my life and as grateful as I am for being able to take care of her through the last week of her life I am feeling as though I am a complete and utter failure for not passing my nclex for the 2nd time......I felt like the 2nd time was great, the test I felt went very good and when I left I really felt confident that I passed....wrong!!!! What a let down to myself, my family and everyone around me....The first time I took the nclex I had the entire 265 questions...Holy crap I thought when I left to myself...I felt as if I wasted my entire life on school cause I didn't know anything that they asked me during my almost 6 hours of testing...so before I took it again, I read books and I listened to videos and I read everything that I could about how to answer questions for NCLEX....I felt prepared and confident when I went in but apparently I was completely in my own little world where everything is safe and perfect cause I did not pass.....I don't know what to do now or how to study for this...I feel like giving up on everything that I worked so hard for...I lost my dream job and I've been without any income since april due to my schooling took so much of my time I couldn't work and I've been able to pinch every single penny I had to make it this far...now what do I do???? I can't even begin to figure out where I will get the money to pay to retest again for the 3rd time....I couldn't afford the Kaplan review or any other review that would help so I relied on books. I used Saunders, Davis, the 10,000 questions for nclex book, I've done over 2,000 questions and I still did not pass.....Being a nurse has been the greatest reward that I have ever done as far as working goes and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life but how do I get through this new 2014 NCLEX-RN exam.....Please help me cause I feel like I have lost all confidence in myself and everything that I have worked so hard to achieve....did I mention that the first time I got all 265 questions and the 2nd time I only received 75 questions before it shut off.....
