  1. There is also Hospice Nursing.
  2. Hi, My family and I are interested in relocated to NH originally from Southern New England, How is DHMC, honestly. DO you know how the New Grad Residency program is and is it possible to find a home with some land within 1/2 hour that costs less than $250,000. I really appreciate any feedback. Bean
  3. I hear you and can relate, Stand strong and never do anything you feel would jepordize your license. And why does your preceptor have additional patients??? Your in my prayers.
  4. I am a recent new grad. I took a sign on bonus and I have been licensed and working since June 16 2005, I have to say that I am in disharmony with where I work, the educator has split, my manager makes promises that she can't keep, the nurses rarely follow policy and play passive aggressive with the Doctors, but will still do things not within there scope, like write verbal orders prior to speaking with the Doc, or pulling Chest tubes out of the pleural space, and there is no such thing as a sterile dressing change. THere are 3 of us new grads that began in the ICU, we were promised a critical education program, and some structure. The education has been reluctantly done by the nurse educator who has dissappeared...and the only structure I have mustered has been through my own generation, like reading policies and getting comfortable with norms, utilizing other resources as well as communicating with my preceptors and manager. I am sorry to go on I guess I needed to vent, the reason why I am writing in response to your message is I have been doing research and found JH to have quite an impressive New Grad program, while I am across the country, in AZ, I am longing for a place where teaching and learning is ingrained into all aspects of patient care, medicine and healing. Even though it may not be even remotely feasable to relocate right now I take my Nursing carreer very seriously and feel like I won't have this 1st year as a new grad back. Doctors do fellowships..right? Any words of wisdom or suggestions are welcomed. C
  5. How is it going??? C
  6. I have snuck into your forum in search of much needed guidence, I am a new grad in CV/ICU and there are 3 of us who began in June/July this summer, our educator has split on us. What we have asked her for as far as any type of education or guidence has been rushed and unorganized, so thanks for the drug info. And pray for us... Blessings C
  7. Brina, I did my preceptorship in the PICU recently and I was on nights. I had an amazing experience, What I can offer to you is to be willing to go the extra mile and be open to learning everything you can from the Healthcare team. I was in a teaching hospital which made a huge difference, I found it easy to approach the residents and ask questions, offer suggestions, and share my observations. Peds are a special population that I love also. Best wishes to you, C
  8. Congrats, Have you already found a job? I worked as a CNA in prep for Nursing while taking my pre-req classes. I found the experience to be invaluable. The best words of wisdom I can offer you is to have an intention or goal in mind, like "I want to work with Peds, or geriatrics, or a place where there is lots of teaching involved, or the unit is team-oriented..etc." Then apply, all hospitals seem to be in need. Best wishes, CNA's truely are the heart of Nursing, C
  9. The same is true for Boswell Hospital in Sun City, there is a Nursing edu program affliated with Mesa Community College. There are numerous scholorships available, most of which require a work commitment. I also believe Banner Desert in Mesas has a ADN program. Theres lots of monies out there, its woth the resarch. Best wishes...
  10. So, Are there no good hospitals for New Grads here?
  11. Maybe try Louise Hays books fos some insight into the origin of his dis-ease. You can find her books in the self help section of any book store. I personally believe that health problems are a symptom of an internal discord, either psychologically and or spiritually. Best wishes to you and your friend.
  12. Have you considered joining the American Holistic Nurses Association? My understanding is you are not required to be specifically trained in "alternative" healing, yet have desire to practice Holistic Nursing. The association teams you up with a network of like minded Nurses with all levels of expertise. I too bring a Holistic focus into my nursing practice and am pursuing a career as a Holistic Nurse Practitioner. This may be a good start, also some university and community colleges offer classes on theraputic touch, etc. Hope this helps, C
