  1. If the school is still on your mind give it a shot. Only you can decide if the school is best for you. Think of all factors, is your current job enough to pay your student loans while in the program (I strongly suggest this route) or are you going to have to wait until you have an actual RN position and work overtime, weekends, holidays( thats expected anyway) not to mention bills to pay besides loans. Its sept now so I assume Rasmussen does a monthly entry etc. You have a 3.2 go ahead and give it a shot but make sure you have other options. Remember competition is high
  2. May I ask what is the lab class like in spring I have to take a lot of lab classes because I already did lecture for A&P
  3. THIS!!!! 65k is beyond expensive most places ask that you have a BSN and if you don't sign a contract stating you will complete within 5 years. I have never heard of a graduate being paid 28hr let alone an ADN so your very lucky. where are you located? Unless the school lied to you about that as well. In that case your about to get a big wake up call not with just school but life period. The best thing I can think of is get a part time job at the hospital and start paying immediately. Do as a previously stated live frugally and once you graduate work OT
  4. I go to red Cross tomorrow to find out for a fact if they offer the class, I have gotten really confused now. On the website my city isn't listed however every time I have called they referred me to a specific person ( who hasn't returned my calls) so now tomorrow I find what's correct and whats not. I have found a class in another close by city but the deadline for the full time class has already passed, so I'm debating the part time. I've called all the nearest city nursing homes and none of them teach the class anymore which I thought was very odd since a lot of websites still have their name listed. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. Its very frustrating
  5. I was gonna apply to Orlando campus but like the other poster said the price changed my mind. I already have previous student loans so having 40k or more sitting on top of my head when Florida is already saturated and there is a huge possibility I wont work for x amount of months was a big factor for me. Good luck!
  6. Thanks you guys I will try to find another accredited class. Right now red cross is the only one nearest me and I can't find the class at a community college or LTC facility.
  7. I'm getting ready to challenge the test. Where there specific books you used to study besides YouTube videos?
  8. I'm preparing to become a cna to get experience so I can work in a hospital or ambulatory clinic and possibly get my foot in the door while I work on my BSN. However I don't want to take 8 weeks or more programs for $900 etc. I found out red cross offers a 4 week class for $250. Red cross however never returns my calls I always talk to staff but the actual person who does the class I can never get in touch with. My mom is a cna. I have an AS degree in massage therapy which teaches ROM etc. I saw on the registration papers I can challenge the test. So my question is would it better to challenge the test and my mom teach me everything else? Thanks in advance!
  9. I think the hospital name is central Florida health and alliance. Chpham you may notice when you get down that it seems extremely busy but once spring and summer gets here its slow. I honestly think even the snow birds call themselves snowbirds lol. Good luck!
  10. I would also try south lake those are the nearest I live in Leesburg majority all application is online but I would also call there are job postings for all 3 hospitals
  11. I'm getting ready to do a cna program at an LTC facility that is 4 weeks I originally planned to do my pre reqs for fall but due to financial reasons decided to do pre reqs in spring and start my BSN journey in fall 2016. With the cna I'm hoping to gain experience. People say you really find out if your meant for nursing if you start out as a cna or lpn Did I mention if you train at the facility if you choose to work for them they reimburse you, and they also pay for nursing school.

  13. Don't do it! Just do the math $30k for LVN 3/4 of that will probably be loans now add in ADN depending where you go $15k or more we haven't even gotten to your bsn yet and you have already acquired 45k. There is no nursing shortage so with that said once you have your license are you prepared to possibly not work for 3 or more months with that amount of debt to the point you may have to work double shifts? I almost made a similar mistake please if you have to work your way up do that instead or move. But don't acquire debt that you can avoid.
  14. I'm almost in the same boat as you honestly. I have an AS degree however some of my science classes required a lab which I didn't have and the other classes didn't fit with the pre reqs for nursing so I practically have to do it all in January. Schools like Rasmussen, keiser, herzing etc would be your VERY last option I was told now a days employers who see you graduate from those schools put you at the bottom of the list for employment. Also I saw that some bsn programs require statistics and chemistry so those could also possibly bring you up a bit. Idk how any of the schools actually work I've talked to students who went to these schools and loved it and talked to others who didn't and were against it. Since nursing is NOT a shortage you need to consider all the debt you will take on. Some people get a job right out of school others don't . are you prepared to possibly not work for 3-6 maybe more months and have over or close to $30k in debt when you haven't even gotten your bsn yet?
  15. The classes you got Cs in I would probably take over depending on the class, for example if its a science class I would redo those also what's your GPA I saw that the average admittance for lake Sumter was a 3.3 altho they accept 2.7 the higher you GPA the better chance you have, I saw in their info packet they go by points as well the higher your GPA, the grade of your science classes, and your hesi all goes into factor. Also I wouldn't go by everyone just because there are a lot of people applying dont mean they all will fit the requirements, but as a safety caution can't you apply to UF also since they have a concurrent program with lake Sumter? You may as well attempt to get your bsn since some hospital prefer that anyway
