Graduation Ceremony Woes
Do you have class officers---like a president or vice pres that could approach the director or someone else. Two weeks is a little notice and we had personal people pin us at our ceremony and it was that extra special touch. Sorry to hear about it.

ECPI versus Wake Tech, DTCC, Wilson, or Barton
Hey yall! I just wanted to tell everyone how great the ADN program is at DTCC. I just graduated in May and just took my boards and passed. I am going to start work in an ICU this Monday. I thought going to a community college would be so laid back and easy but it is a tough program. I was on the wait list for a little while but it was well worth it. We had students that ranged in ages from like 19 all the way up to like almost 60! Our class started with almost 60 students and we graduated like 38 or 39. I know that sounds like a lot that don't make it but a lot of students weren't commited and didn't focus on studying. Oh well, the instructors are great and go out of there way to make sure you understand the material. We also had the Hesi test before boards (had to make like a 850--but Hesi recommended like 900) and now the students that will graduate next year do some ATI testing? Anyways--if anyone has any questions about DTCC let me know! I will be glad to answer them!

Can I apply for license in other state and retake NCLEX earlier?
Hey yall. I too was in the same shoes--I just knew I failed. I cried over and over and over. I was so sure I even called my nurse recruiter before I even got my results. I kept hearing that if I had 265 I was "still in the game" yet hadn't yet proved myself so I got all the questions. I was sick at the thought of not making it. I didn't hardly sleep the four long days and nights. I told anyone that asked that I failed and had to retake it. Another problem was that I was above average on everything and couldn't see why I did so bad on this. Well, long story short----I passed! It looks as if everyone feels sooo sooo sooo bad after the test. A lot feel like it is do or die but those feelings will go away. Like two hours before I got my results I was finally content in knowing that I would take it again---so I hit the books, yes I was studying when I found out I passed! Don't give up and please---wait for your results before you freak!

What field of nursing would you NEVER consider working?
I would say any sort of peds---I have a three year old daughter and all through nursing school anytime I had pedi patients I would come home and check my daughter out. If she would cough (just barely) I would pull out my stethoscope and not only listen to her but do a full head to toe assessment! Call it crazy but I had seen the sick ones!

Help with a school project
I just graduated in May '05 and just passed my R.N. boards. I wanted to tell you that our class was taught a lot about cultural differences and that it really helped us in the clinical setting with patients. Examples range from post-mortem care (after the passing of a patient) to medication rituals. We also learned the basics like eye contact and touch. Some cultures recieve different messages from these things then what we are normally used too. Good luck on your project!

Took nclexrn today 265 sick
NurseKrn, hang in there. You can do it. Waiting is the hardest part. I posted the dreadful 265 thread. Believe me, I know what you are going through. It was a living nightmare--not only the test but the long wait. I will keep you in my thoughts. I just found out this morning that I passed and i didn't believe it because I too had 265 questions. Just think of it like this---as long as you studied as prepared as much as you said you do--you are fine. You know your stuff. And if for some unknown reason the results don't back you then just hit it hard again. Good luck, keep us posted!

The dreadful 265 NCLEX on 7/15. Pray for me!
Well. I am still waiting for my score. THe dreadful outcome of the dreadful 265 may be over today. In NC we usually will find out on Tuesday or Friday. I tested last Friday so hopefully today I will find out. The bad part is that if you don't pass you just wait for that letter in the mail. Please keep praying for me. I really do hope my name is listed but I still highly doubt it. I woke up last night just remembering questions I had and couldn't figure out why I answered them the way I did. Oh well, thanks to everyone with all the positive comments and good luck to everyone and anyone waiting----especially the "265" people because I swear that wait is the worst. I will post as soon as I find out, hopefully today.

The dreadful 265 NCLEX on 7/15. Pray for me!
Hey to all! I am truly living a nightmare because I took my NCLEX yesterday and had the 265 maximum questions! I feel so sad that I obviously didn't know as much as I thought. It is soo confusing because I am a good student. I just need advice on what the heck happened! I also passed school tests above average and I passed the HESI way over the 900 score they suggest you have before sitting for boards. I have done many many questions and I used about 4-5 review books all through school and in studying. I just don't know what went wrong. I live in NC which doesnt do the quick results but we can start checking in like 2-3 business days anyways! So starting next week I will check but I don't have a good feeling about this. I know, I know---stay positive but it is so hard when so much is on the line!
