I work in a 25 room OR. Our facility is trying to increase the efficiency of turnovers with as little help from extra staff as possible. Just wondering who does what job during the turn-over at your hospital? For example, currenly the circulator and the anest provider takes the pt to pacu, the scrub stays in the room and starts cleaning (sometimes with or without the help of the assistant). After the circ leaves pacu, they drop paperwork and specimens off at the proper locations and return to the room to help clean, set-up, and count for the next case. The circulator than returns to the holding area to check the next pt and bring them to the OR.

Hi! I'm writing a paper about cultural competency and nursing practice. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences throughout their career dealing with a patient from a different culture or ethnic group. Were there language barriers? Did you experience unusual customs of that culture that you were not prepared to handle? How did you handle the situation? Do you think better training is needed for nurses to prepare them for dealing with cultural differences? Any comments or stories would be appreciated! Thanks!
