I have not found a program in near me (Sayreville). I looked at the Rutgers program as well but I do not have a bachelor's, so I am unable to apply into their accelerated BSN program. In order to get into the nursing program for a BSN, you must have a certain amount of credits from Rutgers (20+ credits). I have an associates degree (liberal arts), so I wouldn't be able to do that either. So I am searching for either an associates nursing or a 4 year school that will allow me to transfer my associates (including all my sciences) so this way it will take 2 years in either scenario.

I just relocated to NJ and I recently completed all of my pre reqs in NY. The problem is that the one Community College (Middlesex CC) near me doesn't offer the nursing program at night. Rutgers is approx 30 minutes away but they only offer a Bachelor's program and I need to get into the work force ASAP. I would like to get my Associates, then eventually work on my bachelors. In addition, Rutgers is competitive and you have to take once class on their campus first before taking any nursing classes. I have an Associates in Liberal Arts in addition to the Nursing pre reqs. Another CC nearby (Raritan) takes county residents, which I do not reside in. Does anyone know of a Community College within a 30-45 minute drive from Sayreville, NJ that offers an evening program? I would love to quit my job and go to school full time...but that is not feasible. Also, I am older and would like to get this done ASAP. I had 4 classes left in NY and now I can't find anything in NJ!!! Thanks!

Hi everyone, I basically have all my pre -reqs and electives done prior to even applying to the nursing program at my CC. I am only able to take one NUR class each semester (so it will take me two years, not offered int he summer) to take all 4 nursing classes. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction with upper division electives for my BSN. I am in NYS so I was hoping for some advice to get the electives done. Congrats to you all! I was wondering if anyone is going to do the RN program at night that also works full time? How would this work? I am going to apply in the Spring once all of my pre reqs are completed and I'm worried about the scheduling of the classes because I work full time during the day. Also, can we take the NUR classes 2 at a time? As in NUR 101 and NUR 203 in one semester? I almost done with everything else (at the end of 2014)...i just need to take the NUR classes and AHS 202. If not, it will take me an 2 years just to get those NUR classes done. : (

Dezi919, Do you have the pre-reqs done? I am in my 30's and I started last fall with my pre-reqs. In order to apply in my area I need to have Eng 101, Into to Psych, Intro to Stats and A & P 1. Last fall I started with one class (Eng 101) just to get used to it. I went twice a week at night. Then this past semester I took English 102 (fully online) and A&P 1 (Friday night from 530-1145pm). I recommend taking A & P alone if you work full time because I got a C+ and I really needed a B. This summer (as of next week) I will be taking Sociology online (its part of the pre reqs in general) and possibly Intro to stats at night. I am registered for A&P 2 this fall for friday nights and Intro to Psych. So...it can be done but once I get accepted into the program I can only take one nursing class at a time so that alone will take 2 years (1 class per semester, no summer allowed). Good luck!
