  1. Please share your insight of any facilities that are known to have reasonable nurse-patient ratio/acuity parameters. It would also be a blessing if you could please mention the consideration of acuity of care required and other factors such as specialty, location, private vs profit, union, pay, level of experience required, etc. I am a new grad looking to work in a professionally safe environment. Thank you AN friends
  2. Sounds like you're a sure thing already And yes, they consider big picture of what all you accomplish on the daily ~ My school GPA 3.7, (Lifetime GPA 3.65) EFC: 0 BSN, 3/4 semesters remaining 100 hrs county volunteer
  3. Same for me too, so how did this ever pan out for you to find out what their codes listed match up with the hospital names? ~ Thank you ~
  4. PaulBaxter your pic is Ha-Ha-larious!! Makes me giggle every time I see it
  5. Bubble profile pic cant view my text now, I gotta change my avatar
  6. RN school credits cost less, and RN-BSN takes 1 year not 2 years. Go for the bridge, absolutely
  7. CSN is 2-yr school (only offers dental hygiene 4-yr)

  9. 90 days apart, twice I believe
  10. NSC's nursing program costs around $25,000. UNLV costs the same and is a faster time and they offer more scholarships and they have a masters because they are a university and they are building a medical school.
  11. Brookline college has a $12,000 BSN program online (local clinicals included)... I heard about it on this AN site Nursing Degree Programs in AZ, NM, Online | Brookline College
  12. By the way, there's talk of double cohorts this term so 32 ft, 32 pt and this will make it very possible for all competitive applicants to get in. Rest assured
  13. We should know by Halloween, it takes 4-6 weeks (from September 15th)
  14. My favorite is, "When we are at our very worst, therein lies the unique opportunity to respond with our very best." (Or for short, "At our worst, we find our best.").
  15. I am in need of some new mantras to get me through stressful times... Share your best mantras here:
  16. Thats excellent news Belli3! Congrats So did you have to prepay the 50% fee for this semester then? Or did they give you a "hold" while it was processing, if you dont mind me asking? They said I was good for now, but I just transferred all my recent transcripts over there today so there will be 50 more added to what I already have, and I will check back once they articulate. I can not begin the excess credit fee petition until Christmas break. Sigh, hurry up and wait, right? Lol ~ Thank you for the heads up
  17. That makes sense, thank you for clearing that up yall. Hmm, now I think it may be a good idea for me to search other threads on AllNurses about how a "traveling nurse" maintains their licensing flexility
  18. Well when I first heard "new cirriculum" (why can i never spell that right, lol) first thing i thought was, "Bummer, no saving money on used books" hahaha, right? I talked to a student who spent $800 on used first semester books this fall. So now Im wondering what price to expect for the "new curriculum"? (yay i finally spelled it right). I heard their bookstore is going paperless in couple years, so curious to know if this is going to be new ebook style with access codes or just new program content structure with same textbook materials. (Translation- must also buy a new tablet & monthly data plan?). But if it is new materials, the technology upgrades are always nice to work with though and it would be convenient to have on hand during clinicals etc I hear. Who knows, nothing can really surprise me anymore at this point. Sad to feel these changes as a burden, not a blessing huh? Maybe when the ten grand Id need to stay in my program rains down from heaven I can take this sour taste out of my mouth and actually get to enjoy my college experience. It will all work out one way or another, you'll see ~ Keep prayin @caliotter3
  19. The NSC schools newsletter September 30, 2014 also says that Spring 2015 cohorts will double (32 ft, 32 pt) and will be using a new curriculum as well. I wanted to share this with applicants who can still afford the additional $8000 program fee, although bittersweet. http://nsc.edu/9142.asp
  20. Hello everyone, I started this early because if you are like me, you will begin your paperwork over the winter so I figured why not get a good chat page going. It does feel a bit strange to have the "lull" so spaced out til we apply in the springtime, but we have plenty to keep us busy and we will be in classes before we know it! Anyone know of some potential scholarships to apply for in the meantime?
  21. CSN Fall 2015 - Discussion area for our cohort Welcome!!
  22. Excellent that you pulled that all together! Whew, my heads spinning just thinking about what you did to get where you are Sunshine Daisy, congrats ~ I am wondering though if they take into consideration if we are asking for loans vs grants vs both (as well as how much funding we are asking for). I dont see an actual dollar amount request on the appeal forms, so probably not. Just saying
  23. Id like to think they will be lenient with nurses excess credit fee appeals... Boy, so many changes for students to manage these days! Its difficult for me to focus on my learning when there seems to be just one monkey wrench after another just trying to stay above water, sheesh.
  24. You have accomplished all the way through to your 4th semester Christina? Wow, congratulations! So proud ~ Thank you for sharing your experience, what would I do without AllNurses being here to support each other
  25. ... Guy wearing his scrubs in front of me in line today was "trapped" listening to the cashier telling him all about his complex heart condition. I noticed the scrubs said "Blood donation center" of some sort, and I was laughing to myself like the cashier thought the guy was a cardiologist or something. Lol. He was very patient to the cashier & listened intently to the details of the heart surgery. Anyway, made me think of this post, lol. I cant wait to work in healthcare, so exciting
