  1. I am taking A&P 1 the first summer semester (we just started class yesterday) and I am taking A&P 2 the second summer semester. I think that starting a club would be great...we all can use help. I hope that your classes go well. :)
  2. I'm taking A&P I (start today) A&P II in the second summer semester. Sounds like everyone is going to be busy this summer! I hope everything goes well for all of us!
  3. I hope that someone can help me...I need to get flashcards for A&P but I have no idea which ones I should get!? We are being tested on the bones and muscles. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated!
  4. I go to MSU in Beckley,WV. It is considered a "private":uhoh3: college and is sooo expensive. Tuition for 1 nursing course is about $900.00. So, I am unsure how much debt I will walk away with but it isn't going to be pretty. I already have about $8,000 for 2 semesters. Getting to go to nursing school for $8,000 is a GREAT deal! I wish all of us could be that blessed!
  5. I had a seizure when I was 14 years old and didn't have a second one until I was 23 years old. I had an EEG after the first one but no seizure activity was found, I had another EEG after the second seizure and they detected sezuire activity. I was then diagnosed with adolescent onset Epilepsy. WHo knows why it happened like that? I have been on medicine and seizure free for four years, thank the Lord!
  6. This is in fact a real disease, my sister was diagnosed with it after spending years working in a school building infested with black mold. She has been very ill for a long time. She is allergic to everything from food to laundry detergent and has reactions to just about everything. It has been horriable for her to live with but there isn't much that anyone can do. It has caused so many other problems in her life. She is constantly weak, reacts to smells that the rest of us wouldn't notice, the list goes on and on. It really upsets me when people say that it is all in her head b/c I have seen how sick she has really been. She has to see a specialist that costs her a ton of money. So, it is VERY real. I do think though that like all other illnesses, some people claim to have it just to get attention. I think that this is something that is fairly unknown and b/c we don't know all the answers why or how it happens and there are no tests to confirm it people assume it is all psychological. Take it from someone whose family member is suffering from this...it is very real!
  7. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has replied to my post!! You guys are great!:) This site is the best!! Thanks again!
  8. There is a chance but I was thinking if I was there the first day of registration then hopefully I will be able to pick the professor I want. If by some chance he is the only one teaching it I will not be taking it then. How many days a week were you in class? Do u remember how many hours a day? Thanks!
  9. Nuttmeg, Maybe we could try to help each other through the craziness if I decide to take it this summer also. I am giving it serious thought! You can pm me if you want.
  10. Hello everyone! I really need some advice from all of you experienced nurses and nursing students! I was enrolled in A&P 1 this sememster but I chose to drop it because at the last minute they hired a foreign professor that I couldn't understand. This is such an important class I wanted to make sure I learned everything that I could and I felt that would be impossible with this professor. I am trying to decide if i should take it during the summer semester or not!? Many people have told me that it would be good to take it then b/c that is the only class that you have to think about. I see their point but I am also worried that it will be so fast paced that I will be overwhelmed. Has anyone taken this class during the summer? If so, do you think that it is doable or do you regret it then!? I would appreciate any advice that you guys may have! Thanks!
  11. I had the same thing happen to me. When I went to the dentist the infection had spread through my entire jaw!! I was in so much pain!! The infection was so bad that I had to go through two rounds of high dose antibiotics. Then i ended up having to have them cut out of course. It wasn't pleasant. He needs to get them out as quickly as possiable! It will only get worse! I hope that you will be able to work out a payment plan with the dentist! Good luck!
  12. Thank you for your reply cjnursewarrior! Are u attending the program full time or is it only offered one night a week? I was also wondering how long it is going to take you to complete the program? Are u satisfied with it so far? Sorry to ask you a million questions I just wanted to speak with someone that is in the program. Thank u so much for answering my post! I hope all is going well! Steph
  13. I want to apply for LPN school but have to take the appitude test....whta is on it and what study guide do I need to get....I have to tak this test at the end of sept....HELP please. It is as hard as the RN NLN? Please someone help! Steph
  14. Hello everyone!! I just found this thread for Nurses in WV! I am not a nursing student yet but hope to be one soon. I saw where a couple of you go to MSU....I am going there taking some pre-reqs. I am finishing up this semester as a Independant Study student and will be coming on campus in the fall. I am a little nervous about that. I was wondering where you went to get your LPN...How long did u have to work before getting into the LPN-BSN fast track? Was getting your LPN hard? I am trying to figure out if I shoulf get the LPN first or try to get straight into the Rn program!? Any advice would be appreciated!!!!! PM me if you want..I'd like to talk with people who have been there and done that! Thanks, Steph
  15. Thanks! I know that I am not the only one...I was just wondering if I had to wait longer because I am in WV. We don't have as many ns as bigger cities. I know a lot of people apply to more than one but that's kinda hard to do around here. Besides every school wants something diffrent..diffrent pre-req's..ect...It just makes me want to scream sometimes. Plus there are so few posiitions open in the school's which makes it harder. I appreciate your encouragement...at least I'll know that I am not alone if I don't get in this time. Thanks again! :)
  16. I was just wondering how long it has taken those of you who have been accepted to get in? Did u do a year's worth of pre-reqs? The program that I want to get into only accepts students once a year...is this the norm? I want to get in sooo bad but it is very competitive! So, I was just wondering if anyone else had to wait a year before being accepted!? Maybe if someone else has done that then I won't worry as much if I don't get on the first shot and maybe not as depressed. :) just wanting to know what other's have been through! Thanks! Steph
  17. LOL....that is so funny! :rotfl:
  18. We had something like that in high school and it turned out that you had to pay to get your name in the book. I think that they are just out to get your money. They got mine when I was in High School! :chuckle By the way I love the quote about bacteria! Steph
  19. I am taking som pre reqs now but in the fall I will be taking A&P, Chem1, Beginning Algebra (yuck), Lifespan & Human Development, and Sociology(SP?) The college here only takes nursing student 1 time a year so I am trying to get in for the fall of next year. Wish me luck...I still have to take the NLN plus pass all my classes with a C or better. I am in WV and will be taking classes from two colleges in the fall MSU and Bluefield State. Bluefield has the nursing program that I want to get into though. Maybe we can all try to help each other out if we have questions...it would be nice to have people to bounce ideas and questions off of. :)
  20. Thanks everyone...do you remember what study guide you used to study? I bought the study guide written by The National Nursing League but if there are other books that can give additional help I'll get those also. This means so much to me and I want to do well. Thanks for all the advice. :) Stephanie
  21. Has anyone on here taken the NLN pre-entrance exam yet? If so what was it like...how hard was it? Just curious because I am very nervous about taking it. The college that I want to get into requires that you have at least a 100 on the exam in order for them to consider you. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
  22. I am taking a Bio 101 course at home and it isn't working out very well for a few reasons....1. my professor doesn't like IS students :angryfire 2. My tutor (who is studying to become a bio teacher) says that this course is more like a 300 level course than a 100 level. :uhoh21: I have to admit that I have panicked about this class because it is so hard, I wish that someone would have told me not to try to take it at home. I think I would have been better off going to campus. Our problem is that we only have one car. I am taking Chem next semester but I plan to go on campus...my husband and I are just going to have to make it work somehow. The stress of doing this at home isn't worth it. But I also think that it depends who your professor is...try to talk to students who have had them before. That will help you make your decision. I am taking other prereqs at home and they have worked out fine. Science is just hard..at least for me. I need to be there in a class room I guess. Good Luck.
  23. I have had a few people that are trying to talk me out of it. I am taking pre req's in order to apply to nursing school. Did u have to take pre-req's before getting in to nursing school? I am doing IS courses and the Biology course it really hard and not being in a classroom with a good professor is making it harder. I am feeling discouraged and I don't know if I should even post in here because I am not in nursing school yet. I guess I am just looking for advice or encouragement. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated if anyone sees this. THanks!
