  1. Also read the brick and mortar remark about my education above. I rest my case. Now please delete this thread.
  2. There is a difference between offering a difference of opinion in a constructive way and doing it in a way that has that connotation. Regardless, I will be deleting my account. Clearly, questions are not wanted or welcomed on allnurses.
  3. Clearly you can't ask questions or question something someone else does on here without being belittled in some form or fashion by at least one person. Kinda ridiculous.
  4. There is no need to belittle anyone here.
  5. Again, I understand. Thank you.
  6. Okay, I get it. Thank you.
  7. The main problem with this is that she says she makes her own tests. I forgot to add that above.
  8. Hi all. I am quite frustrated. I had an A&P II exam yesterday, and it was awful. Long story short, I did a Google search after taking the test and found a very large set of flashcards on cram.com that were made in 2011. I read through them, and found about 20 questions that were exactly the same as the ones on my test. Word for word, 100% the same. I don't know what textbook they were created from, but I do know that my professor has not been teaching since 2011. Clearly, she does not make her own tests and I can't help but see this as borderline plagiarism... Have any of you ever had this problem before? I've heard about similar things happening at other schools, but I don't know what to do about it or if there's anything wrong with it in their eyes. I just don't think it's fair. Thanks!
  9. Waiting on mine as well!
  10. I am currently a pre-nursing student. I have applied for fall 2015 and should be hearing something within the next few weeks. I went up to Virginia for a vacation over my spring break to visit a friend who recently moved from where I live. He lives with some other friends of mine. He *was* generally supportive of my decision to be a nurse and cheered me on. That all changed while I was up there. He was talking about how "doctors and nurses have the easiest job" and when I asked him what he thought nurses did, he said that we just check on people and follow orders. This really made me upset. He is supposed to be my best friend, and I feel like a friend wouldn't put down my chosen profession over a little anger about a hospital bill. How do you guys deal with people like this? Should I still be friends with someone like this? My family and other friends are extremely supportive, but I don't know what to do about him. Thanks for any feedback. :)
  11. What classes/entrance exams do you have left? I've already taken the TEAS. I only have one class left (Micro), which I'm taking this summer. When will you begin submitting applications? I've already submitted my one and only application. I should hear something by the end of April. Feels like forever away. How many programs will you be applying to? Just 1! Have you already been accepted into a program? Nope!

Khan Academy should have some great stuff. I actually think there's a whole section on their website just for the TEAS. I'd also recommend watching some videos on YouTube and getting the online practice tests and doing those. They're $45 each, but very similar to the real test. Also, when you're done with the online practice tests, it will give you a breakdown of what you missed in each area, that way you can get a feel for what you need to work on. If you focus on those areas, you should be just fine! Good luck!
  14. Great job! It's a killer test. I studied for mine for like two months. Had the ATI book and went through it cover to cover, watched Crash Course and Keshwani Prep Videos, Khan Academy, you name it. I did everything I knew to do to prepare. I got an 80% overall, which is at the Advanced level. I needed at least Proficient, so I'm hoping I'll be high enough! I would definitely recommend purchasing the online practice tests from ATI. They are very similar to the real thing, both in form and in content. They also give you breakdowns of what you missed when you're done. You did great. I'm sure you'll do even better the next time! Good luck!!
  15. Hey! Sorry it took me so long to respond. My test wasn't bad. I scored an 80 overall. And no, the online ones are not the same as the ones in the book. They're more difficult but are VERY similar to the real test.
  16. I also agree with above. ^ There is absolutely nothing wrong with being in school at 30. I would advise you not to take the TEAS again until you're prepared. Not only because you personally can only take it so many times, but also because it's a waste of $45.
  17. I strongly suggest that you get the TEAS study manual. It's made by ATI, which is the same company that makes the actual exam. It has sections for all topics covered on the test. It also comes with two practice tests in the back of the book. I studied for about 2 months for the TEAS. I went through the manual, did both tests, and also bought the online practice tests and took them. You should definitely do the online ones. They are worth their weight on gold. So, go through the manual and review all of the topics, take the practice tests, and focus mainly on your weakest areas. I got an 80 overall.
  18. Hey guys! I'm in A&P II right now and we just finished the digestive, endocrine, and reproductive systems. I made an 84 on that lecture exam, which I'm VERY proud of because the endocrine system is quite difficult. The class average was a 70. Now we are moving on to the blood, heart, and blood vessels. Blood isn't so bad...but the heart is majorly tripping me up. My lab exam over this is March 26th and my lecture exam is the following week. Are there any pneumonics you guys used to remember? Any websites? I've looked at the cadaver dissection that comes with the book and I'm definitely learning the information. It's just connecting the dots. Thanks! :)
  19. I second this. And I'm sorry. I know that has to be tough. I'm glad you have emotional support. Maybe there are some trustworthy friends who don't have kids who can help.
  20. Thanks guys! I think I've made my decision. I'm going to take out loans for sure. I'm gonna do some more number crunching to figure out exactly how much I will need, but it should be in the neighborhood of 6k-10k for the full 2 years. No more than 10k. I'm also going to look into some VA/CNA/PCT positions as suggested, and I'll look into some externships while I'm (hopefully, fingers crossed) in the program. Thanks for the advice!
  21. Thanks again guys! I feel like I'm pretty much ready to get out of food service. There's a job open at my school for a peer tutor that I'm going to look into. 8-12 hours a week, very flexible with my schedule. It's definitely something to consider. I'm also looking into work-study in the financial aid office. Lots of thing to consider. Keep the feedback coming!
  22. Thanks for the input guys! I would qualify for a subsidized Stafford, so I wouldn't have to start paying until 6 months after graduation and I wouldn't have to pay interest during school. I am still thinking and weighing all my options.
  23. Yeah, ours is a lot too. My first semester I only have clinical (one 12 hr) once a week, but other days I'll have skills labs and lecture classes. My second semester I'll have clinical twice (two 12 hrs) a week, in addition to the labs and lecture. So I'm not set on what I want to do yet. I'm in a holding pattern for at least another month. I currently work in food service.
  24. Thanks! Yes, there are a few VA's around here. I'll keep that in mind.
  25. I have considered that, but I don't know if I will be able to manage it. I would likely only be able to work on weekends and I make minimum wage, so I would most likely have to take out loans anyways.
