I thought the TEAS was a little more difficult than the NLN. If you can, take both and submit the exam score that benefits you more to the school you're applying to! :)

Oh bummer! I'm sorry to hear that. No worries, though. A week is not enough time to study and comprehend all of the information needed to do well on the exam. If you have the money, I highly recommend the ATI-TEAS study guide and practice tests. When you're studying make sure you take plenty of breaks; move around, drink water, and grab a snack. Try to set aside 2-3 hours a day to focus on one subject. The exam results provide feedback as to what you need to focus on or "review", utilize that! There are hundreds or videos on YouTube and Khan Academy offers loads of information. Those resources are FREE so you don't have an excuse to not use them. Reading and English can be tricky. I would search for grammar lessons online and take "practice grammar tests". Take your time with the reading sections. The questions are geared toward comprehension, point of view, what is the author trying to do (persuade, inform, etc.), know the difference between fact and opinion. Go back to the basics of reading comprehension and grammar!! I know I needed to when I took the exam haha. The Internet has a lot of information to offer you for free. Take advantage of it! A couple of tips: - Don't study the night before the exam. - Spend the day before relaxing, if you can. - Get plenty of sleep the night before. - Have a good breakfast the morning of. - Leave early so that you have 10-15 minutes to sort of "prepare" (mentally) before the exam. - Bring a bottle of water with you. - Take breaks between each section (if they allow it) to get your blood flowing again! The acceptance is based on points, so it really depends who else is applying for that semester. A 3.00 with give you 3 points, 3.50 will give you 3.5 points, etc. They also base it off of TEAS scores, job experience (for certain medical related fields), college credit hours, cumulative GPA, and...I think that's it. They have a points worksheet on there website that allows you to figure out how many points you will receive.

Okay! Well, just because they only require a score of proficient doesn't always mean that a proficient score will be accepted. However, if you feel as though that score will get you accepted into the program then that's all that matters. Good luck and congratulations, again! :)

Try talking to the professors? Sometimes they (or someone higher up) can write off the restriction and allow you to take both classes together if you have good academic standing.

Congratulations, though! That's a great score for your first time taking the exam :) proud of you for passing with a 70%!

I would talk to a nursing advisor (at each school) before submitting that score. Some schools weigh the TEAS more than they do GPA, but if that is not the case for the schools you are applying to then don't retake it.

Well hey, at least you have the experience now and know what to expect next time around! That is, unless you did phenomenal and are just psyching yourself out. Haha let me know how you did! Don't worry, the science part can be a little tricky. Make sure to study more than just the ATI guide next time or just review the guide again. Usually they do a good job of covering everything, but sometimes they leave out a couple of things. No sense in stressing, though, what's done is done :)

I did much better in A&P II (A+) than I did in A&P I ( B ). Micro was...well I didn't really enjoy micro haha, but that's because I didn't take the lab with micro (bad mistake on my part). I passed, though! You'll do well though, just study study study! Stay focused and you can achieve anything. Best of luck.

The only reason the exam will be hard is if you haven't been studying, but since you've been studying the practice tests and for the past few weeks you should do fine! There are videos on YouTube (just type in TEAS-V) that are great refreshers. Also, Khan Academy has a ton of information that touches many important aspects of each subject. If you search on AllNurses (Teas) you should find some helpful tips. Keep in mind the exam is changing August 14th and some schools may require a score from the newer exam if you are applying for Spring semester. Just make sure to check that way you aren't paying $90 two times.

- University of the Incarnate Word -University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Actually, instead of listing off a bunch of schools, I am going to suggest you go online to the Texas BON page and compare the NCLEX-RN pass rates for the BSN programs. I'll even post the link for you! Simply click on NCLEX - RN Pass Rates of the Last 5 years by Program. Scroll to the section labeled "BSN programs" and there you will see all the BSN programs in Texas :) then compare the schools retention rate, pass rate, etc. Also, make sure you look at pictures of the campus or visit if you can...unless that isn't important to you. I find that a positive morale on campus helps to keep me motivated and excited to be graduating from the school. I hope this helps with your search! Texas Board of Nursing - Education Programs

I just received my letter of acceptance to SAC for the Fall 2016 Nursing Program!!

No need to panic. There is a plethora of information and study tips on the Internet (for FREE) that could benefit you immensely. If you study regularly for your prerequisite courses (which I'm assuming you do considering the 4.0) you will do fine. If you can, try to take a practice test (there are plenty online). Just be aware that the ATI is administering a NEW TEAS exam sometime in August (August 14th, I think) so make sure you look into that; schools may require you to submit a score from the newer TEAS. If you study diligently, time will not be a constraint for you. KhanAcademy, YouTube, ATI, and Google are you friends. :) basically, utilize the Internet as often as you can, because the majority of the time it is free and easy to use! Hope this helps. I scored an 85.3% on the TEAS-V, advanced placement.

Texas has some of the best nursing schools in the country! I'd look at every option in state, since you aren't restricted to location, and go from there. Do you want to attend an ADN program or do you prefer to go the traditional BSN route? Some schools are only accepting the TEAS-V exam now, so take that into consideration. Most schools will look at your cumulative GPA (which is great, btw) and your science or pre-requisite GPA. I'd say that as long as you are making As and Bs you are good to go and you will be considered a competitive candidate. Which universities/colleges have you already applied for?

My grandfather said to me that when he worked in L & D, he had experienced some of the most rewarding moments in his entire medical career. This was after I told him I was interested in L & D. I'm glad you realize that it won't always be about the reward, and that in a time when you least expect it, there could be death(s). It's as frightening as it is exciting. Maybe one day our dreams will become a reality. Really great read, btw.
