  1. so how are you all doing now that school has started and the first week is done
  2. It is dry at least some of them but once you put some of it to good use its really fun!
  3. Yes! Which semester are you in? Just registered for Nursing 2 and so nervous. especially with having the clinical on Tuesday. But I am excited as well. I cant wait!
  4. I don't think nails are even allowed in the work place, I am only a student thought but I work in food and beverage no nails. and I assume that it is the same way no nails at work. those things carry bacteria and EWWWWWW. Why introduce those nails to an already compromised patient?
  5. first semester don't get to have a say at all! but the others we do get to choose! Thank God too because some how I don't think I would beable to drive 5 hr out of the way! or what ever the case may be
  6. No one has said a thing to me about no RN anywhere in the name. My username does have RN in it but as RNtobe556. Is this ok? Im assuming it is because Im not calling myself an RN. I will be one day Hoping. anyways yes it is illegal to call yourself something you are not! But I do recommend don't try to get involved with it! it can only hurt you if something doesn't go the way it should.
  7. So should have taken advantage of all our resources this semester!
  8. All of you are on the right track. Keep up the good work. You all will do great!
  9. and as far as the book store people, they don't really know anything! one year I asked them to help and they gave me the wrong book totally! Its more of the bookstore staff that is the problem
  10. don't just do the key words and the questions... read as well! I cant stress this enough! You have to look at everything. Read the chapters, key terms, and do questions and work book! trust me on this. there is also a book called: Fundamentals of success, use it!
  11. I see well if you start now it will be a little easier
  12. prestudying? like not to the last minute or start pre studying now?
  13. How are you all feeling after orientation?
  14. half way in I have lost only 2 completely different reasons very sad. I just try to think positive throughout this whole thing.
  15. No we get the calendars a few days before first day of classes! Also its 1 whole class worth 10 credits = Nursing 1. there are 3 parts they are Theory, lab and then Clinicals. This semester we have lectures Mondays and Wednesdays 9 am to 12:30 lab days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm. There are only 2 clinicals the first semester at the end.
  16. I am resequencing ( Not spelled correctly) I am telling you READ each chapter they tell you to. First time I took Nursing 1 was in the summer as well. It is hard because it is a shorter term. but if you are able to start reading earlier go for it. or at least get an Idea of the materials. and don't just read the chapters look at the tables and boxes in the chapter.
  17. Have fun! I am doing Nursing 1 right now. Tips: Get books early and study. Don't go for the first chapter first. work on dosage. the More you know for dosage the easier week one will be! Read a head this means as soon as you get your calendar dig in to the chapters. Don't forget to take time for yourselves. It is very stressful but the weekends are welcomed relief!
  18. Had spring break last week! was fun and rough to get back to class and studying though
  19. RNtobe556 posted a topic in General Students
So tomorrow learning how to do injections! I cant wait but also I know this means need to know how to keep client/ patient safe. and I am so concerned that one day I might make a mistake... I know that everyone has felt the same as I do right now. but honestly this is my biggest worry right now. I don't want to harm anyone. But I pray I get through everything. oh I know my subcut, my dad is on insulin and he has let me give him the insulin! Thanks to my dad for allowing me to practice. still scary though!
  20. I got to share this. This past summer I started Nursing 1. I completely failed. I was working on sundays which was STUPID of me knowing that my tests were mostly Mondays... On the first test I made an D, then an F on the second test. I was not happy at all. I was studying not as much as I should have. I was also going through a lot with my grandmother in and out of the hospital. This time its not much different except for the grades. I made a B on both first and third tests and an C on the second test. I have decided to only work on Saturdays. But besides work, I have a dad who just had an amputation on his foot. anyways I know what it is like needed to pay bills, and take care of family. I wasn't trying to put my life out there, but wanted to encourage people. It is doable. Stay focused and stay Positive. If you really want to do this you can :) -P.S.: Im talking to myself as well :)
  21. I made Cs in all my Pre-reqs! Failed Nursing one in the summer but now doing great! Don't give up!
