UFV September 2016 Applicants
As someone currently in the program the number one piece of advice I would give would be to make sure ALL your electives are done prior to starting. Eng 105, Stats 104/106, a 100 level Anthro, Psych or Soc course...it will make your life in the program way easier. Like if your planning on starting in Sept, and you don't have something done, take it this Summer. It is worth whatever adjustments you'll have to make. The only one I didn't have done was stats, and I am now forced to take it online during what should have been my break (I'm a third year fast track) Anyways, I have an stats exam today and am loathing it, so i figured I would procrastinate studying for bit to drop that random piece of advice. Good luck to all :-)

Why are nurses so.....?
Ok. Haha I'm going to take this as a reminder of how badly things can be misinterpreted online. I wasn't saying anything bad about nurses AT ALL. I was mocking broad generalizations that claim that any group is so this or so that but saying all groups of people ( nurses, firefighters, stay at home moms, whatever) will be made up of some people who are awesome, kind, honest, hardworking, and will also have other people who are less fantastic,(mean, rude etc). Meaning that one trait cannot be used to accurately describe a whole group of people because the individuals in that group will act in different ways. It was a lot more fun and less wordy the way I first put it but whatevs...[emoji12]

Why are nurses so.....?
Haha hybr1d I'm sure they are I wasn't saying their not. It's just a sarcastic remark to statements like "why are nurses so mean?". Because their people and sometimes people (even nurses) act mean or are mean. Just like some nurses, like other people ROCK [emoji6]

Why are nurses so.....?
Rude, mean, gossipy, unprofessional, uptight, bossy, unforgiving, non-friend making and judgmental? Probably because nurses are also just people and all subgroups of people seem to have members that have one or more of these unfortunate traits...

Christian School and Atheism
It's very weird to me that you chose to attend a Christian school and are now complaining about the "biased" curriculum. Of course there's a lens on the way the content and classes are presented...it's their RELIGION. There is no hidden agenda here, you knew this going in. My suggestion would be to leave. It seriously confuses me when people attend schools/events taught by religious groups they disagree with and then act bewildered/ offended by the audacity of the program to actually expect them to follow along with it. I wouldn't attend a Muslim academy and then bash the Quran...

UFV 3 year fast track Questions
I did get in last year! We just started our summer semester so now I'm in 2nd year! Time flies!! The program is a lot of work there is no way around it but it is completely doable. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security in the 1st month of 1st year lol they ease you in slow but when things pick up they pick up. The amount of things we are expected to do/know will blow your mind so try and keep up and stay organized!! Personally still working on that one but eventually you have no choice lol. Congrats and good luck in the fall! I am sure your eager but believe me when I say just try to RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!! This time next year doing three heavy semesters back to back you'll be begging for time off! All the best!!

Ufv 2015 sept intake
Hey! I am currently in semester 2 of UFV's nursing program, I started in Sept. This time last year I was you guys and I remember how anxious I was! Last year what they did was two waves of information session invites. The first wave from what we gathered in hindsight were the "top applicants" as far as grades went. They got their invite and attended the information session 1st. The second wave of email invites came about a week after, and (again, they never told us, this is just speculation on my part) it seemed to be those who didn't necessary have straight A's but had extensive volunteer/work experience (i.e care aids, paramedics etc). Everyone who got an invite to the information session completed the written part of the application (trust me, its not an essay, more like 3 short answer questions) and got an interviews. About 100 people got invites, and 48 of us got in, so once you get a invite, your down to about a 50/50 chance. This is how things worked last year, I have no idea if they are using the same format, or what they may have changed, so don't quote me on it! Good luck to you all! The program is A LOT of work (don't let the 1st month of 1st semester fool you! ) but definitely worth it!

Nursing programs in BC....
Hi! I'm a first year BSN student at the University of the Fraser Valley. Trinity is very expensive. My aunt works there and I did look into it but for those tuition rates your not getting anything special compared to other schools. I don't know too much about the other schools I did apply and get accepted to kwantlen but UFV was my 1st choice due to location. I know that its pretty competitive out there in general. Good luck!! :-D

UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year
Hey there guys! I'm currently in the program just started in September. I was talking to one of the profs they said that they just finished putting the list of potentials together and are going to start contacting them around 1st week of October. I know the wait sucks! Hold tight good luck and hope to see you in January :)

UFV Jan 2015 intake
I had 2 As and 2 Bs for pre reqs and English 105 and psych 101 completed with a A and A-. Also I had quite a lot of health care experiences in a variety of settings which I think helped boost my application a lot as my grades were average considering a lot of people admitted have straight As. Good luck to you as you start this journey! It's a long haul to the starting line but don't get discouraged it's possible!!

BSN program @ UFV September 2014 Intake
bkim88 if they told you your on the waitlist I wouldn't completely give up on September! I know of 2 people who received acceptances who will not be taking them One got into BCIT's nursing as well and is going there to avoid having to relocate and the other just found out her husband got a job offer out of province so their moving. Things do happen and if you read past threads there's almost always a few people called off the waitlist!! Anyways all the best with your wedding /honeymoon plans and in your future applications

BSN program @ UFV September 2014 Intake
What program did you apply to UFV for? I had 2 A's and 2 B's and with all three references combined probably close to 700 hours of volunteer/work experience. But honestly for me I think it was my interview that made all the difference, the lady who interviewed me told me I did very well with all the questions. Will you still apply to the UFV nursing program for Jan intake, or try to get into TRU's BSN? Good luck in whatever you do!

BSN program @ UFV September 2014 Intake
Kiran, I would submit any healthcare/setting related references possible. I submitted 3, one from volunteering in a long term care facility, one from volunteering in a clinic abroad, and one from my job as a support worker. I'm a good student, but my grades were pretty average, considering a lot of people apply with straight A's. I had 2 A's and 2 B's in the prereqs, and English 105 with a A and Psych 101 with a A-. I think having some of the nursing electives done at the time of applying helps too. It sounds like your academics are all amazing, good for you! I would concentrate, as Meghan said on getting as many volunteer hours as possible. To kbevan: lol trust me I am also not the person to be creating the FB page...but I will definitely join it once one is made. 48 people, somebody is going to bite :) and hopefully in second semester, we can join another split off group for the fast track students. Only time will tell. Right now I am hoping that the "within 2 weeks" is more like end of this week, I am just dying to get my hands on my official acceptance package!! I went to the book store today and just stared at the nursing section for like 5 mins. Yes, I have been on my "weekend" and had far too much time on my hands, lol. Back to work tomorrow, thank goodness, actually grateful for the distraction!!
