  1. which kind of temp agencies. the only places ive found work in NYC was via a School Nurse Agency, and the annual is 47K
  2. so.....how did it work out.. the not working anywhere, but at a hospital thing? or hopefully you DID get in...?
  3. as a school nurse in Queens and Manhattan, NY, I am so warmed to read this..... thank you
  4. How did it all turn out. I am most curious. jrm
  5. Have you begun working there? I looked into them, the " no non-hospital RN need apply" applied. any other avenues into NYH? JON
  6. is it 36 or 40 hours per week? and how DOES one come to the 87K offer? the math isn't adding up. thanks.
  7. How much experience is expected PRIOR to such an offer?
  8. Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as orientation in a DaVita Setting? Sufficient amount? Method? I am an as of yet, NON-prior-clinically employed RN, (Some call us 'new' Grads, other could call us 'Dalit') but am seeking HD work as a start of my more clinical nursing experience. info, thoughts, feedback, pearls of clinical and professional wisdom...?
  9. I have to ask.....what was the pay like, back then, for requirements such as these?
  10. I sent in some applications/resumes online. I was called for an informal phone interview in 25 minutes. my head was spinning. great company, culture, and Ideal. A great opportunity, I'm thinking, for a new grad.
  11. wow. where was this? 'New' to NYC. I have been on the New Grad Hunt.
  12. BostonFNP. OK. thanks. are you saying as far as becoming an active NP or RN, as I was referring to? A bit confused.
  13. [COLOR=#003366]futureeastcoastNP. Right after graduation, no. I was acting as a Caregiver for 3-4 months for a Friend In-Passing. then continuous for 2 years. then 2+ years as a Home Care Aide and also the insurance RN position. thanks! I did get into a SNF briefly, then was downsized with half the RN staff a month late.
  14. crapola. graduated on Aug 09, still trying to get hired as an RN, let alone use my MSN degree. I have been secretly concerned about the stale RN, AND MSN aspects......
  15. hmm, would love to talk. New RN MSN here in NY. not much luck just yet.
  16. YES musical chairs. one persons 'advice' turns out to be the majorities 'We Don't Accept that'. The Nurse recruiters don't see you unless you have an appointment, no appointment unless the Clinical Nurse Manager likes your resume. NO prior experience....ie 'poor resume'. I tried to get into hemodialysis here in NYC. a fun series of go there, go there, go there etc. You know, when they offer you a number/contact, and that starts a Jacob's ladder of nothingness. Or tell you, as a 'New Nurse' to get your CNN (Certified Nephrology Nurse) and then push that credential hard and often on my business card. hahahahaha the joke? research showed it takes 3000 Clinical hours, i.e working full-time 1.5 years to gain the required hours TO EVEN APPLY to the exam. fun. a tad disingenuous.
  17. sadly, I am here. and am seeking to get the dirt, or pearls of NYC nursing life? JON
  18. I have waiting for months is the norm, if I hear back at all..... .... .. j
  19. I got in with a GRE of 1120, 20 min of study. An undergraduate in Philosophy and Religious studies, my GRE Math was 34%, not the best. Bridge program, Adult Nurse Practitioner: palliative Care. That specialty is not longer there even.
  20. I did Bridge program that allows me to do the BSN equivalent, then go straight into the Master's component, the APN Specialty. I am wondering about other's experience and wisdom in this: Is it better to have experience for a few years as a Nurse, before becoming a NP. Have any direct entry NP( gone straight into NP work without prior RN work) had any issues or gleaned pearls of wisdom, or regrets or advice. I decided to try working as a nurse first. big mistake, I feel, as I have YET to be allowed to work, as I do not have prior clinical experience. I am still a 'New Grad" after 5 years. )I do have some rn work, but travel assessments for insurance companies)
  21. For you all trying to get into Vanderbilt Hospital, do you already have experience? I lived there after graduating the Vandy SON, and could not get a nursing job to save my life. Except for a SNF, which then downsized, literally, 5 RN all at once due to systemic internal restructuring. Finally found a job doing assessments for insurance companies a few years post graduation. now I am recently to NYC. ouch. much worse.
