------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello: I am not a nurse yet only a student,but I do know charting for a doc is a big NO! I have been in the hospital and seen a number of doctors for my sickness and never saw a nurse chart for a doc. Look at this from a patient point of view__What happens if one of the patients request their records for another physician to look over their case. The new physician will look at the physician notes that you wrote and think that is from the doctor. What if he calls the doctor and have a question about something that you over look by being a nurse. The patient decides to sue the doctor for poor charting and overlooking something important. Who license will be on the line? The doc will probably keep his and you lose yours. Nursing school is too hard to play with the license. How do you know that your license is covering this? Remember your license is your bread and butter. Look for a new job because once you rep is gone it is gone! Hope this helps, moon30

LPN's do not make that much money around the United States. Look a http://www.monster.com and click on salary information for your state. My state the average pay is 34,000.00 annually. Hello: Do LPN's with a degree in another field get paid more than a LPN with out a degree? I would like to know do the employer pay you for your BA degree. I heard that BSN's get paid more than ASN's at some hospitals around Louisiana. The BSN's at state hospitals are getting 3.00-5.00 more than the ASN's. Someone told me sometimes 10.00 more depends on the department. So is that true? moon30

My friend is a BSN and she stated that most of the LPN's she work with are better nurses in knowledge and experience as the seasoned RN's. She also stated that a LPN mentored her to be the great nurse she is today. Sometimes we make decisions without thinking then regret for wasting time . Best thing is pray then look at the whole picture. I am currently changing careers and it scares me. I am applying to nursing school only because God put me in a situation that I was hospitalize 6 times in 2004 and 2 times in 2005. but, i can say that it is a relatively cheap school and the number of students is much smaller than alot of other schools. i was waiting in the office there the other day and as students were walking in i noticed that the seceretary knew them by name. i was pretty impressed with that. but i would just call if i were you and i'm pretty sure they have a waiting list for information to be sent when the program starts. hello: flecter do not know when the program will actually start :angryfire . it may start in the spring or fall of 2006. flecter is waiting on approval from some board that i forgot the name of . they may require you to take an entrance exam to get in, but they do not know what kind. the information that was given by the register :deadhorse is confusing . i went to nicholls and the professor stated that they are putting two-year rn protential students on hold to see; if flecter will start in the spring of 2006 . if you find some information, please tell me. thanks moon30

hello: I live in the Houma area. I know a 3brm apartment starts at 700-900.00 a month. Where are you moving for that little rent? That sounds real cheap for rural area of Louisiana. I was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Houma because the rent for a single parent is cheaper than living in New Orleans. Hello: LE Flecter is located in Houma, Louisiana. It is about a 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from New Orleans. The school tution is very cheap! :rotfl: You can take 12 hours for less than 750.00. Hope this is useful, moon30

Hello: Their is many programs in New Orleans and the Baton Rouge area for LPN to be an RN. Delago has an RN program, but an entrance exam is require even if you have an LPN. Our lady of lake college in Baton Rouge have a 1 to 1 1/2 year program for LPN's desire to be RN. So many universities over the web offer LPN to RN transfer. Others I heard about is William Carey College, Holy Cross College, McNeese, and Southereastern in Hammond. Do you think a nursing student paying out of pocket should go for the LPN first then work as an LPN to pay for an RN? What college did you graduate from for the LPN? Is the LPN a waste of time as people say. \ Do LPN's really make 10.00 to 15.00 an hour in New Orleans? Thanks, moon30

Hello Everyone: L.E. Flecter is so confusing about their nursing program. The register who is attending Nicholls for her college degree stated that the program may start Spring06 or Fall 06. :uhoh21: The program will require an entrance exam to get in the program. They do not know what kind of entrance exam will be used for students entering the RN program :angryfire . Students who are in the LPN program can not transfer to the RN program when it starts. Flecter do not have the teachers for the program either. Oh! If you have a bachelors degree and go to Flecter you will be treated like a second grade citizen :angryfire . Thanks for the support with my response. This site is very scary because the ones that responded so harsh may be nurse themselves. This is why I want to become a nurse to make a good impression on nurses. I have been very sick the last 12 months and seen some crazy stuff in the hospitals. I had one nurse give me a little medication to make me suffer in pain. I reported her and found out I was suppose to get 10mg of morfin instead of 2mg. Some nurses are not very nice. moon30

I am starting my pre-reqs at Delago in the fall of 2005. Also have an appointment with one of the advisors at charity this month.
