  1. I am a Hospice nurse as well as the office manager of Home Health and hospice. There is still lots of politics even with hospice, you are more relaxed and can adjust your schedule unless you have a death. The dosctors act the same as in the hospital, you know nothing and they know it all. The best thing to do is maybe try in PRN some and see how it goes.
  2. That is just part of being in home health. It is not necessarily you that may not like, there are personality conflicts anywhere you go. As being Office Manager of Home Health and Hospice, I get them phone calls about every one of my nurses.
  3. There are lots of different nonclinical areas. I myself went into Home Health as an office Manager. I really did need the change and it has been great this far.
  4. Thanks, I will try some of the ideas. But, I only have one lecture class the others two are online and you know sometimes that is worse. Thank for the info.
  5. I am now a Home Health nurse. But, I work in the office. Yes, I love it. I started out in the field with this company and then moved into the office. I liked both ends. I especially like the ours, I get to be with my kids more. I am only on call one week a month. There are some bad points about it. It is not as "easy" as everyone thinks. There are strict Medicare guidelines as far as Start of Care assessments that have to meet certain qualifications. They are about 15 pages long. They have to be done, turned in, typed, and printed within a certain amount of days. But all in all it is great.
  6. Hey everyone I I have not posted new threads before, just answered a couple. But I have a question. I have been an LPN for 5 years now. I decided in 2003 to go back and get my BSN. Well into the 2nd semester I got pregnant and stopped after I finished that semester. Now I have decided to go back, I have 2 small children 6 and 20 months. I work full time as a Branch Manager and pretty much do all the stuff at the office, considereing I am the only one in the office. There are two field nurses and 1 field aide. But, to the point How do you find the time to study and do the things you need to. I drive 1 hour to work and back. And I work from 8-5. On the weekends we go out of town to go and see my husband for he does not wor here close. I am starting to feel as if it is entirely to much. And I can not quit my job so it would have to be school, bu tI would like to advance. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry this is so long.
  7. 327.16 for 3 books, and 1872.00 for the 3 classes.
  8. I do believe this is unfair. This infringes on a persons right of freedom. I do smoke although I agree someone should not take advantage of their addiction and go for a smoke five or six times in their shift, Any person is entitled to two fifteen minutes and one thirty minute break during their shift. This is to reliev some of the stress and get off the floor. I may not go smoke everytime, but if I have to I will go and just sit in waiting area or I may go a smoke. But, as far as getting fired from skoking at home that I do not agree with. If you smoke your insurance premiums are already higher than if you don't.
  9. I had a patient once, well actually it was my husband. He was hit in the mouth by a horse head and required 15 stitches in the TONGUE. That is what I told him, next time he would not back talk me.
  10. Your posting just makes me blazing mad. I have been an agency nurse for 5 years. And as someone else posted, I was offered a job on every unit I worked at. DO NOT jusdge agency nurses just because they make more than you, you have the same oppurtunity. There are staff nurses as well as some agency that i would like to know how they got a liscense. So do not put everyone in the same boat.
