  1. Is there anyone here who has switched to Hospice Nursing and can give me advice? I have been working as an RN on A stepdown Med/Surg unit for a year and really like bedside nursing but I am tired of all the "Politics" involved in nursing. I love bonding with my patients, realize the importance of continuity of care and holistic nursing practice. I really try to hard to do that on our floor but unfortunately with the pace and multiple physicians and orders, it is becoming hard to manange. When you're missing bedbaths and timed medications and your charting is three or four hours behind something's wrong. Yes, some nurses can do this but i have learned pt's suffer. It's either safe nursing care or charting for our floor. I truly love my job but I guess I'm just tired of all the nonsense and unsupportive nature of our industry. I am also tired of having to apologize to pt's and family members for my lack of "promptness" and always having to explain myself with no backup from administration. Thanks for letting me vent!! :monkeydance: God Bless Princess RN
  2. I am only a first year RN, but Milk of Molasses enemas are amazing!! I could not believe the results you could get from milk and molasses together!! PRINCESS RN.
  3. Beware of multiple IV Bags and pumps!! I had accidently, during shift change, increased a pt's Dopamine drip from 10cc's to 50 cc's. The patient was not harmed but his HR went up to 150 and I had to call the doctor. I was lucky to have a monitor tech to cathc it and also lucky the rate was going only a few minutes. Always double check your work, I never thought it would that easy to mess up and potentially hurt someone. God Bless PRINCESS RN.
  4. I worked full time and went to school!! It can be be trying at times but know your limits. Congrats on your acceptance and be very easy on yourself. DO NOT let anyone discourage you and tell you what you can't do!! It's an amazing journey but is also life changing. I thought I knew it all before nursing school and found out I didn't. Get ready to change how you think and work with problem solving. I found out they didn't teach us a whole lot about critical thinking in our twelve years of school. You can do it:icon_hug: !! Lots of Luck and God BLess, PRINCESS RN
